fuck, you can start with massive incarceration and taking away voting rights of prisoners; move on to reducing polling places in black areas; requiring hoops to jump through such as picture ID; pruning voter lists intended to shake off poor people who tend to move more, etc.

White prisoners can't vote either, right?

Just checking.

I find the differences among nursing homes and particularly veterans homes interesting.

60% of Massachusetts COVID-19 deaths have come from nursing homes (or people connected to them). We've got a Veterans Home in Chelsea (near Boston) with 34 deaths and another in Holyoke (western side, near Springfield) with 84 dead and another 150+ infected, combining staff and residents. NY Long Island's got one with 53 and St. Albans in NYC has 33.

In New Hampshire, though, the Veterans Home has managed a total of 0 dead from the virus and thus far no cases, though they've tested more than a dozen residents.

How much is management, how much community, and how much just plain luck?

The criminal justice system disproportionately cracks black heads and gives them longer sentences.  The racial disparity in arrests, convictions, sentence length (and death penalty) likely comes as a shock to you.

I copied and pasted kiid's exact question into Bing (google is banned here) and amazingly you get lots of info:

Quote
In 2017, blacks represented 12% of the U.S. adult population but 33% of the sentenced prison population. Whites accounted for 64% of adults but 30% of prisoners. And while Hispanics represented 16% of the adult population, they accounted for 23% of inmates.

Blacks = 37.7% of US Federal prisoners.

I'm sure it's not hard to find state by state breakdowns of prisoners by race.

But anyone who does not think (or claims to not think) we as a country would be in a better place right now during this pandemic if Hillary Clinton was at the helm is too inextricably embedded within the anus of Donald Trump to be worth hearing.

Please expund.

Is it her positive history of assembling and managing people that has you gushing so?

Maybe its her decision making under pressure.

Que', exactly?

Three reasons among the many;

1) She can read. How many still would have voted for trump knowing then what we now alll know, that he is functionally illiterate? Not very many in the suburbs for sure.

2) She remembers what she herself has said not only hours, but whole days and even months after she makes an utterance. This is clearly beyond trump

3) She is not obviously mentally ill.

Kevin Hassett, senior economic adviser to President Trump, now fears the unemployment rate could hit 20% in April, two months earlier than he previously expected.

You would think that story was from March or maybe early April, but no. It's from today.

He's worse at mdeolling than the IHME folks!

Speaking of modelling, some good news about that 3,000 (up to 9,000) deaths per day tale, out of Johns Hopkins:
He wasn't done and has no idea why that's circulating in the White House.

No promises that it gets lowered, but it might, right?!

And also... the president was asked about the newest IHME numbers, which up to now he's quoted freely.

Today, he flat out lied about them, claiming the were based on no mitigation, when they are directly in response to reduced mitigation.

The question got asked (and ignored): How many deaths are acceptable before he'll decide that things have to be rolled back?!

Let me ask you folks, Blue, Red, and NotA voters, what's a viable trade-off to you? Would saving/restoring 18,000,000 jobs be worth 200,000 additional dead? 300,000 additional dead? 10,000,000 jobs? 30,000,000 jobs?

Is there a ratio or perhaps a logarithmic scale that works for you? 10 mil are only worth 50,000 dead, but 20 mil are worth 200,000 dead and 30 mil are worth 1,000,000 dead?

How do you calculate it? What would cause you, looking at future numbers, to say, "Yeah, that was a mistake," or "Huh, that worked out okay," do you think?

Breaking Down Mass Incarceration in the 2010 Census: State-by-State Incarceration Rates by Race/Ethnicity

From 2010, but a lot of good info there.

A few prison facts that stuck in my head and might be slightly out of date by now:

1/3 of all black males over 18 were either in prison, on probation or parole.

It costs the same amount per year to incarcerate someone as it does to send them to an Ivy League university.

There were a number of chances for Trump to get this right.  And probably ensure his reelection.  Even after he completely botched the early stages, and outbreaks occurred in the US, Trump could have done like Cuomo and tried to reassure people and tell them the harsh truths, and do the best job mitigation job possible.  Instead, competency and compassion were just way beyond his ability.  In the face of a national emergency, Trump still goes in for self-aggrandizement, ratings, dividing, and unwillingness to take any blame.  Just a jerk form start to finish.  And yes, he is finished.

That there's a still a chance and I'd say a pretty good one that he gets re-elected speaks to what a nightmare the Democratic Party has become.

I'm sure there's more, but spending 1 minute was enough time on your nonsense.

Next he’ll quote polls which show support for voter suppression tactics.
