https://inrix.com/blog/2020/03/covid-19-eliminates-congestion/

Yes, less congestion, but also 75% greater speeds than before the pandemic.

I ended up at this story because of a different one about a teen driving 191mph (308kph) near Toronto.

I think you are catching on that some citizens - and even some leaders disagree with the level of "lockdown" governors are getting entire states to.

Easy answer?  Still no.

A "right" and a "wrong"?  Nope.

Only to those who value money over lives or who have not thought it through all the way.

There are citizens who disagree with everything, Kid, and that some people disagree on things does not change whether they are right or wrong.

Slavery comes to mind. The right to refuse somebody service because of their skin color. The right to punch people in the face because you feel like it.

Rape.

Pedophilia.

Children working in the mines.

Yeah, I can find you plenty of folks who think those are okay.

Whoop-ti-do!

That there is disagreement does not change the bottom line. And your inability to grasp it doesn't, either.
That’s a response?
And you are a teacher?

Gen. Lengyel reportedly tested negative today, as promised.

I only found that buried in a separate story on the Military Times website.

“Let me tell you what true leadership is. Zero. Zero people need to die from coronavirus. Every death is a failure of leadership. Vietnam has zero deaths. Taiwan has six. Korea has 250, which they mourn. These are true leaders, and we should praise and learn from them....

“Western countries wasted valuable time computer modeling white people and debating various outcomes when the best practices were clear from the beginning. If they had just followed Asian leadership they could have saved themselves.

“Taiwan, South Korea, Vietnam, and basically every country near China reacted in January. They didn’t wait for anyone to warn them and they’re not blaming people now. These nations had all been preparing and building pandemic institutions for decades. The playbook they followed is hundreds of years old (find/isolate/trace), the only major additions being PCR testing and PPE. Every country could have just looked over there and copied them. Many other countries, like mine [Sri Lanka], have.”

Trump is already tits up and badly dressed and made up. All that is required is that he stop breathing. I’m sure someone will build him a box and dig a nice hole for him somewhere.

https://www.cnn.com/2020/05/11/health/hydroxychloroquine-doesnt-work-coronavirus/index.html

Quote
In the most recent study, researchers at the University at Albany looked at 1,438 patients with coronavirus who were admitted to 25 New York City area hospitals. After statistical adjustments, the death rate for patients taking hydroxychloroquine was similar to those who did not take the drug. The death rate for those taking hydroxychloroquine plus the antibiotic azithromycin, was also similar.

However, the patients who took the drug combination were more than twice as likely to suffer cardiac arrest during the course of the study. Heart issues are a known side effect of hydroxychloroquine.

Patients receiving either drug were more likely (relative to neither drug) to be male (Table 1). Black or Hispanic patients were as likely to receive hydroxychloroquine and/or azithromycin. Median patient age was similar in the 4 groups (hydroxychloroquine + azithromycin, 61.4 years; hydroxychloroquine alone, 65.5 years; azithromycin alone, 62.5 years; and neither drug, 64.0 years [P = .35]). Six of 25 (24.0%) children received either hydroxychloroquine or azithromycin. Patients receiving hydroxychloroquine + azithromycin and hydroxychloroquine alone were more likely to be obese and have diabetes than those in the groups receiving azithromycin alone and neither drug. Patients receiving hydroxychloroquine alone had the highest levels of chronic lung disease (25.1%) and cardiovascular conditions (36.5%).

Now that we know these precautions are being taken for someone as low worth and useless as an imposter president, we need to turn up the volume on demands that these steps are followed in every workplace around the country that opens and operates during this pre-vaccine phase.

Easy answer?  Still no.

A "right" and a "wrong"?  Nope.

Americans still overwhelmingly support the "lockdowns."  I posted recently a breakdown by business.

This also contradicts REDSTATEWARD's contention that we are all just going to accept people dying of COVID19, which is a separate issue from the "lockdowns."  Because if we really are ok with getting sick and possibly dying, then the choice he alludes to is real.  Governors reopen their states and people head out to restaurants and movie theaters in droves, all returns to normal.

Of course, as with most things REDSTATEWARD says, it has no relationship with reality.  The choice he presents is a false one.  Removing the "lockdowns" without pairing with routine testing and contact tracing is not going to give most people the confidence to go back to life as normal.  And even the states that have opened up have done it in a limited way that is insignificant to the economy.

The end result is that we get sicker, and still saddled with a huge economic downturn which is at this point, thanks to Trump's world-class fuck-up of a response, a certainty.

Trump’s ongoing fuck ups are excruciating and extraordinary, even by nasty puppet standards.

It will be nice to know who has been in the market for cheap puppets.

The reason we have economies,  in a democracy, is to lift everyone.

So,  we don't sacrifice some people to lift others.   The founding principles of America include that the individual life has value and dignity.

Trump's official instagram account has this picture, I am told:

I see no reason to expect that would turn out differently than anything else they are doing.

The left goes left, the right goes right, and Roberts, though on the right, frets about his legacy.

Needs seems to think sending the economy into a long and senseless depression through lockdowns will have some positive effect on covid-19. But he won’t recognize the overall acceleration of deaths by other causes along with ruined lives, mental illness, future generations deprived of a decent education, et al is a price we are not signing up for.
But what he is really afraid of is turning the country back into the hands of the people.
