What moves will the Giants make this offseason?
-
Looks like another long season after the smackdown by the lowly Browns.
-
A practice game in the first week of August with the vast majority of the playing time given to guys who won't play a down this regular season is some sort of predictor? Wow. Tough crowd.
-
Diva WRs seldom lead to titles. I would have traded OBJ for at least a one.
-
Five years now waiting for Eli to return to form. Just too old and beat up.
-
When are the Maras going to finally figure it out? Not the coaches, not the oline, not the RBs, or WRs.
-
Ok the Drew Lock draft.
-
Five years now waiting for Eli to return to form. Just too old and beat up.
Heh
96.6 passer rating
-
What? That's a career high?
Ok
-
Which, given the huge run-up in passing numbers this year for everybody, makes him the same average QB he's been for the last several years.
-
Holy Tom Dempsey, that's a sucky way to lose.
-
Eli should just retire now and stop embarrassing everyone. HOF career now dragged into the mud. Just a five yard dinker and dunker now.
---Are the champs back? Eagles look dominant in steamrolling Giants---
-
---Behind closed doors, several Giants players have expressed frustration with Manning’s performance, according to sources. One player specifically commented recently about Manning’s inability to do anything against Cover 2 and zone defenses.---

I love the HOFer Eli but it is clear he just is not the same QB he was in his twenties. You can look for scapegoats blame the coaches or the OL but the truth is the game has passed him by. The front office has hitched their wagon to a fallen star. He is 32nd and last in YPA.

Nah
Having quite a solid year
Tough conditions today.
-
I guess you loved the headline today
Giants Expect To Keep Manning For 2019
-
Needed that Iowa State 2 of conversion
3-4 entering today
Taking Michigan, Oke and ND.
-
Everyone expects NYG to take a QB in the 1st round.
But y tho?
The team has a lot of needs and the may as well extend their QB in place. (Renegotiate the deal offer another year for a smaller cap hit)
BPA.
LB.
-
for a former #1 draft pick and highest paid ever RG
Giants save 1.5 mil on the 2019 cap.
Once DG signs a RT in FA and drafts a couple backups in the 5th rd, the O-Line will be completely re-built.
Eli will have a line to defend him and Saquaon will have bigger holes to exploit.
1st round, will be either an Edge Rusher or OLB.
Sweat. or White.
-
Yeah.....defense makes sense at #1
I like the idea of looking at the U Buffalo QB
-
Yeah.....defense makes sense at #1
I like the idea of looking at the U Buffalo QB
Giants are looking closely at the Duke QB Daniel Jones.
Regarding Josh Rosen the Giants do not want to trade any of their first three picks for him (6, 17, 37)
They are also wary of Rosen wanting to start right away and creating a controversy with Eli, who was promised to start.
-
My team is run by the stupidest motherfuckers on the planet.
-
Yeah.....defense makes sense at #1

Jones is the pick. Giants pass on Haskins.
The word was the Skins would take Jones if the Giants took Haskins.
So the criticism is that the Giants did not trade up from 17 or down from 6 to get Jones and more.
Valid criticism of DG.
End of the world?
Nope.
-
If Allen turns out to be a superstar and Jones a bust Gettleman will be gone. So of course he's going to say Jones could sit for three years.
Lawrence might be a good pick. Did we give up too much to get the CB? Probably.
-
Guess DG was picked because he bought the Eli koolaid. Sub-standard QBing for the past half decade. Dont think Jones is the answer. Giant could be like the Lions of the Barry Sanders era?
-
Hmmm
Maybe
Wouldnt kill the Giants to not win a title in the Barkley era. Lets see them just get back to playoff football.
-
10 years for Barry
12-4
10-6
10-6
9-7
9-7
7-9
6-10
5-11
5-11
5-11
Crushed Cowboys, lost to Redskins in the 12-4 year.
Could have had better coaching
-
Well, also better players and better drafting. Cf., Andre Ware.
-
Giants just get worse. Bad owners seem to end up in NY. Terrible team effort, little talent.
-
Sad for #10. Happy for Big Blue.
-
Have not seen a jint QB run around like that in some time. How slow is too slow. Eli is 5 years too slow. Just too easy too defend.
-
Sad for #10. Happy for Big Blue.
Dont be sad
a) happens to everyone
b) we may see Manning in a game this year
At least Eli was a losing (record) QB when he was demoted - unlike Kurt Warner
-
Looks like Mcadoo was right Jints needed a change at signal caller.
-
Problem with this team is outside of the front 3 the defense is atrocious.
The first rd pick DL Dexter Lawrence is a gem. Thanks Odell.
-
Ok nostalgia buffs Eli is back. Mara is a teflon god, Seven straight years of mostly terrible football and the coach still gets blamed. Still caught up in the 40's and 50's.
-
Giants were begging to get beaten but Giants wouldn't let it happen
- LaGreca on ESPN Radio NY
-
You mean Eagles? Eli was good for a half than iggles adjusted.
-
You mean Eagles? Eli was good for a half than iggles adjusted.
Shurmur has no adjustments. He's a coordinator. Not a HC.
-
old school jints fired jenkins. Nice losers?
-
Disgusting - first Eli pass right on Shepard's numbers for a DROP.
And now a HORRIBLE offensive PL call as Manning on the mark again.
-
old school jints fired jenkins. Nice losers?
Wanted out. Zero trade value. Bye.
-
Right on the mark again....1st down to 82.
Now Saquon goes to work.
Giants not too far off....
-
old school jints fired jenkins. Nice losers?
Wanted out. Zero trade value. Bye.
Oh no, he called an opponent a "retard". Picked up immediately.
-
Giants would make a nice boy scout troop. Loyal and pc perfect. May not win many games though.
-
Thank you, Coach Shurmur - good luck in your travels.
-
Another terrible season for the NY area NFL fan. Jets and Giants two of the worst for the decade. Shurmer,Macadoo, Coughlin, doesn't matter. New ownership is called for. Paying fans (not me) had to sit through the mess in the open air dump.
-
Shurmer modern offensive mind fired dinosaur gm kept.
-
yyyeppppppp
Wise move
-
Judge is in session
-
Hires as Giants tight ends coach.
Go Judge has Garrett and Kitchens as former NFL HC's on his staff.

Would like to see the Giants shore up the line this offseason. Both tackles and a Center.

Draft should be all about the O-line

or...
Gettleman never trades down and always has his eye on big athletes. There are a few OTs that fit the mold, but Simmons, a 99th percentile Adjusted SPARQ athlete, is rare and immediately improves the Giants’ 27th ranked DVOA defense. Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller also said, “Many NFL scouts believe the New York Giants will select Clemson linebacker/safety Isaiah Simmons at No. 4 overall.

You don't need to use the first round pick on the O-line but you better invest multiple picks there, day 2 and 3.
I'm not too high on Simmons.

I'm not too high on Simmons.
heh
ok
I saw him play in the title game and was duly impressed with his speed and vision but not sure what position he would play in the NFL. Is he a linebacker? Is he a safety? Would rather draft someone with a more certain position on defense or go with an OT at 4 if the trade down doesn't happen.
-
You could whiff on your OT pick (read: pick a 5 year starter but a guy who isnt great for you) and see the freak athlete dominate the league in someone else's uniform
I think Simmons is gone by 4 anyway, so not sure we should quibble. Looking like a deal down for Giants - gain an extra pick or two and get the lineman. But should be considering other defenders and even WR as well.
-
I think they're probably thinking:
1. Draft Young if available
2. Draft Okudah if available
3. If Simmons is the BPA then trade down and take an OT with the new lower pick
-
Yeah, maybe....
Have you read anything of the sort - that Giants arent in at all on Simmons?
I saw one mock where they took Isiah - and just one where Giants took Wirfs. Others are all over the map, including trade downs and ups.
No chance I talk you into Tua? If we put it out there as a possibility maybe that forces an Oakland or a Miami or a LAC to move up ahead of us, leaving us Young or Ekudah (most likely draft I have seen had Ekudah 2 and Young 3).
-
I like durable QBs.
-
And I like the current New Orleans system. Just a thought. There has been no indication Giants go that way. Do you think the player would prefer this - an opportunity to be on the field right away - in wildcat situations - to sitting behind a vet on a bad team?
-

You want to draft Tua with a FRP and then play him situationally? T. Hill was not a FRP. It would be a huge waste of a draft pick.
-
A weapon and a huge trade chip
Not sure Gettleman has the balls.

Not sure Gettleman has the balls.
Also would create a QB controversy. Not sure you wanna do that and undercut your pick from last year.
-
Nah
No way in hell
-
I'm warming up to Wirfs.
Young/Okudah/Wirfs are my top 3
-
Good player - no doubt
Plays either side as well.
Gettleman just about cant blow this one - and why would he? His drafts have been solid.

I think his first round picks have been solid. I don't see him as a visionary who gets value in the later rounds. But he has gotten the broad strokes correct and you have to give him credit for that. Only debatable gripe seems to be going for Barkley instead of Quentin Nelson. The OL would've been better and the need for a guy like Barkley who can make solid plays (when healthy) out of nothing would not have been so great. But at the time i wanted Barkley and it would've taken major balls to go for a OG there. He was right in not taking a QB there.

He was right to take BARKLEY there. No - Saquons don't grow on trees.
It was the QB or the RB. Dont muddy the discussion by throwing in a lineman.

Not mad at the pick and happy to have dodged those QBs but its proven you don't need a Saquon to win.

46-196 - and 4 TDs
11-94 receiving and 2 more TDS
What's that - 6 TD for Damien Williams in the playoffs?
57 touches overall in 3 games?
Not necessary to have a great back?
OK - sure does make it easier.
-
Great teams make good RBs look great. That was my point. Williams wasn't even drafted! They invested elsewhere.
-
Nah... nice try
I dont think anything makes a good back look great.
Eye test on Williams - I dont care where he was drafted - his background was quite impressive pre-senior season - and he is now a seasoned pro with GREAT tools.
Nope - doesnt mean the KC Chiefs could have taken any undrafted "athlete" type and made him a playoff lead dog. Not one bit
I think we have said enough on the issue. I am thrilled Barkley is a Giant. But if you want to lay out how the team might look had we taken Darnold or an OT in his place, I will sure listen. You cant just make a blanket statement that we'd be better off and let it lie there.

I'm still taking Barkley there, not Darnold. But there were those advocating trading back, getting more picks, and landing Nelson.
https://www.espn.com/blog/new-york-giants/post/_/id/56763/trading-down-for-quenton-nelson-a-realistic-option-for-giants-in-nfl-draft (https://www.espn.com/blog/new-york-giants/post/_/id/56763/trading-down-for-quenton-nelson-a-realistic-option-for-giants-in-nfl-draft)
Giants took another guard in the 2nd rd (Hernandez) after taking Barkley in the first. So it's an open question if they would have gone Guard in rd1 and followed up with Hernandez in rd2.
It's hard to project what happens if they'd gone that route. Do they take RB Nick Chubb (pro bowler) instead of Hernandez? Do they go with Darius Leonard and fix the gaping hole at LB (2018 defensive first team all pro) Or do they draft two young guards (Nelson was a pro bowler this year) and if they do that you don't need to make the trade with the Browns of Olivier Vernon for Kevin Zeitler and if you don't make that deal maybe you never expand it to include Beckham. Etc Etc.... too many variables.

CJ Henderson falling to 16 is a surprise as well. He could be as good as Okudah.

The Giants own the fourth overall selection, but they have just two picks among the top 95 picks. Adding picks by trading back -- while remaining in the top half of the draft -- appears to be a desire.
"It's something I will very seriously entertain," Gettleman said Friday on a conference call with reporters.
But there's also this:

-
Wirfs > Wills but can't ignore the Saban connection.
-
I like the Alabama player best.
Obviously it won't be the Louisville giant now (drug flag problem)
But my pick is still Tua - with consideration of a during or post draft deal.
"We're taking him unless one of you guys want him"
If we ended up at 12 (OAK dealing up) I would also look at WR - then take the lineman with the next pick.

Wills is most NFL -ready. -David Deihl
Ranking by Diehl
1. Wills
2. Thomas
3. Wirfs
4. Bechton
Tier II
5. Josh Jones
6. Austin Jackson
Very impressed with Wills, as a RT he protected TUA's blind side but Andrew Thomas is the best left tackle, Wirfs the best run blocker BUT don't draft him if you're not a run-first offense and don't expect him or Wills to move to the LT. -Shaun O'Hara

5. Josh Jones
6. Ezra Cleveland

Thanks for the Diehl perspective
-----
I have heard Willis could change sides - not that he definitely would with NYG - and that Wirfs could play either as well
There is more movement at the pro level among tackles than you think.

O'Hara did say that either of the RTs could play LT but they had ALL-PRO potential at RT. HE credited Diehl for being able to move around on the OL and said it's not as simple switch. He used a colorful analogy of going to the bathroom and using your other hand to wipe. He said "It gets the job done but things can get messy"
It was also pointed out, i forget by whom, that when Judge was with the Patriots they drafted a lot of guys out of Georgia.
-
If we ended up at 12 (OAK dealing up) I would also look at WR - then take the lineman with the next pick.
It's all but certain the first pick (even if there's a trade down) will be an OT.
You want a WR? Cool. Me too. But this draft is loaded with WRs and there may be some good ones there on Day 3.
One name to watch: Antonio Gandy-Golden. 6'4". 223lbs red-zone threat. Giants haven't had a tall receiver since Burress.
-
Jax trade up to 4 for a QB, Giants trade down and grab their tackle at 9. Plus other picks.
-
You want a WR? Cool. Me too. But this draft is loaded with WRs and there may be some good ones there on Day 3.
Yeah, true
But if you pass on an All Pro...........
-
OT was the pick, and it was the guy the former G-Men OLs were highest on.
What happens to Solder, does he move to RT now?
-
When I look at who Dave Gettleman has drafted in the past at the offensive tackle position, Thomas looks like that guy. Big, thick, long-armed and really physical. He is a really fun player to watch when he’s pissed off. He moves guys in to another zip code as a run blocker, he really gets after guys in space, and he finishes.
The issues here are two-fold. His effort isn’t consistent and that is the number one red flag. In the intense moments, big games…etc Thomas gets after it. But too many times throughout the past two seasons I saw a guy that simply tried to get by on talent. The second issue, he looks like a train wreck in pass protection at times. He struggles to reach his point against speed and he shows his numbers to the ground too often. While his power and reach can partially make up for it, he simply needs to get better there or he will get eaten alive by the top end pass rushers. I’ll end with this: Thomas at his absolute best is better than Wirfs and Wills. But do you want to gamble on his work ethic and lack of athletic ability?
-
I dont worry about the ethic - he knows this is the PROS now and that wont be tolerated - and if he can play RT I am also fine with that if he whiffs on the left - though if he does and isnt best in his division on the right - was he a good pick at 4? Thats what I was saying with taking the skill player or frek D guy
. Open those holes for the big dog and you'll be fine, son.
-
EDGE: Gross-Matos
S: Grant Delpit
WR: Tee Higgins
WR: Chase Claypool
WR: Denzel Mims
At least two of these guys will be there.

Xavier McKinney is still there also. If he is still there at 35, what would it take.to get the Giants to move back to 41? Asking for a friend.
Modified because I suck at math.
-
3rd rounder would likely do it.
-
Excellent second round pick for Giants. Safety McKinney from Bama (good call, Steve-o)
I wonder if CLE did try to deal up
Winfield still there.
Now... about that pass rusher....
-
A couple WRs and a RB taken G-Men on the board went for a Safety, a huge need. Of course, lots of needs on this team. x The first safety taken of the draft. Delpit's injuries might've been a concern. Gross-Matos gets taken two picks later. LOOOOONG wait to pick #99.
OC and WR are still big needs. Looks like Giants won't have an EDGE rusher this year either. Maybe the plan is to build the Offense to a Top 10 level and focus on D next offseason.
-

Art Stapleton
@art_stapleton
Gettleman says Giants made up their mind if McKinney was there, they were taking him. If he was gone, they had a deal in place to trade down.
Mel Kiper had him in the first rd. #15
-
awesome
Now Bears got Patriots tight end choice Kmet.
But I am sure they will get a good one
Browns choke coming up
-
Nah...
looks like they did ok.
Though Winfield (to Bucs) could be the best of the 4 safeties just picked
-
Jets take Ashtyn Davis (Safety) with the 68 pick acquired from the Giants in the Leonard Williams trade.
-
yawn...
-
Biadasz would be a good C pick at 99.
-
OL depth. RT of the future.
They must like Spencer/Halapio and even Gates to play C
OR maybe they think a C falls to 110.
-
Say what Holmes?
A CB reach.
Meh.
-
Needed. Returns kicks as well.
Browns get a pretty good tight end.
-
One name to watch: Antonio Gandy-Golden. 6'4". 223lbs red-zone threat. Giants haven't had a tall receiver since Burress.
Drafted to the Skins at pick 142.
Donovan Peoples-Jones still out there for the G-Men to draft.

Wow, Dallas trades up and he goes to the Cowboys at 146.... what do the G-men do at 150?

Lemieux
5 year collegian. So a seasoned, mature young man.
Started all 52 games at left guard.
Second team all Pac12. Second team All American.
Nothing to sneeze at.
Brute run blocker. Needs work as pass blocker
-
Where was the need tho? Hernandez was taken at LG with the 2nd pick of the 2nd rd 2 years ago.
-
Team Needs going into the draft: OT, EDGE, WR, C, SLOT CB
So far we got the OT and the Slot CB. But haven't addressed any other need.

Reading some other reports. Some say G men having a top 5 draft
-
Are you getting a contributing WR or pass rusher this late?
Donovan Peoples-Jones is highly thought of.
-
Cam Brown LB from Penn State.
-
Giants like their skill people
Loaded up on linemen and defensive help
I love it.
Meanwhile - predictably Pats took a kicker.
-
Giants ink ... Ohio State WR Austin Mack UDFA
-
Should let Peppers play 2 ways
-
He had a hard enough time playing 1 way
-
Giants ink ... Ohio State WR Austin Mack UDFA
And Ben Victor WR from Ohio State as well.
-
Derrick Dillon WR LSU
-
OT/OG/OC from URI
-
Jordan Raanan
@JordanRaanan
The Giants are expected to sign Maryland RB Javon Leake as an UDFA, per source. Explosive player. Averaged 7.2 yards per carry last season.

Tied for most KOR TDs in Maryland history

What a waste of a first rd pick. Giants are snakebit on first rd corners.

Didnt Apple's deal with Las Vegas fall through?
Do we want to deal with Mrs Apple again?

Do we want to deal with Mrs Apple again?
Don't care bout the mom but Apple is garbage.
-
Just checked roster, team is so bad. Another double digit loss column can be expected. Jones looks ok than you have Barkley and than it is downhil with average or belowl. Super conservative GM, super conservative coach. New ownership please.
-
heh
-
5-11 is reasonable for the talent on the squad. Anything more than that is a credit to the coach.
-
A coach who I like (something I never did for McAdoo or Shurmur). I wonder how long that will last.
-
5-11 is reasonable for the talent on the squad. Anything more than that is a credit to the coach.
heh
-
You are ignoring this user. Show me the post.
Lol! This is fun.
-
Darius Slayton has 10 TDs since week 5 of 2019, the most in the NFL since that time.
-
Pat coaches make terrible head coaches. Its a proven fact. BB does all the thinking.
-
I think Judge had a nice week
Checked out the coach's show on MSG - good stuff
Jones eats that ball on the Dupree red zone rush and Giants might have a had a chance. Air about the overall effort was that there was no quit - and I agree - nice to see.
-
Jets VS Giants
Neither looks play-off bound, but Jets look absolutely clueless and unprepared for 2020. Jones looks more promising than Darnold who has digressed. Tough luck on Barkley but anyone is better than Gore.
-
I take it back neither NY team looks ready to play in the NFL. How does this happen? It is a lot easier being bad than competitive. In choosing HCs both teams went for the low hanging fruit. The same for GMs. It isn't really close anymore.
-
Dan had a poor game.
Next!
-
Both teams are 0-4 and ranked 31 and 32. Giants are 31 but their defense has played well at times.
-
Giants win over a bad Washington team. Jets are still getting trounced.
-
Lucked out with my c-19 house by the Bay.
Bucs with Brady look like the class of the NFL. Ariens can coach. Giants up this Monday night.
-
Jim Harbaugh may be coming back to NFL. Perfect (only) fit for Jets. Giants almost pulled out the enormous upset. Getting better under coach.
-
Giants almost pulled out the enormous upset. Getting better under coach.
Yeah. 1-4 in games decided by 4 pts or less. Not too far away. Young team. Keep it together.
-
Giants have evidently disciplined Golden Tate, who has not made the trip to Washington
Never good when the wife/girlfriend gets involved
God speed, GT.
(pick up Slayton in fantasy, if available)
-
Daniel Jones:
4-0 career vs Washington
1-17 career vs Not Washington
-
FIRST win vs eagles since 2016!
-
Daniel Jones is the Giants highest graded player from yesterday’s game with an 84.2 overall.
That’s Jones’ highest game grade of his career as he continues to shred from clean pockets.
When kept clean, Jones went 18 for 18 with a 93.1 passing grade
-
Yep.
As stated, little need for Lawrence.
Jets? Well......................
-
Oline is progressing, defense finally worked on third down. Judge looks like he can coach.
-
My picks Tua and Isiah Simmons wreaking havoc on the league.
Hope Mr Thomas shows better in time.
(ist round WRs - my other option - not doing too bad either)
-
Wow first time Giants are interesting this late in season since Eli was young.
-
Highest rated deep ball passer in the NFL
-
Wow first time Giants are interesting this late in season since Eli was young.
yeah - and just think - with this group of talent and even with a healthy Barkley it was said "this coach will do very well to go 5-11"
heh
-
it was said "this coach will do very well to go 5-11"
No. Not what was said.
5-11 is reasonable for the talent on the squad. Anything more than that is a credit to the coach.
I still think 5-11 is the record we finish with. But if we end up with 6 or more wins you tip your hat to the coach.
-
Oh no Jets are leading. There goes Lawrence. Cant even tank right.
-
Thank you Adam Gase. First time I actually rooted for the raiduhs over Jets. Great game!
-
Meanwhile your defense continues to look excellent
-
Oline is moving people.
-
HUUUUUUUUUGE WIN.
Colt McCoy - nice job.
Leonard Williams - pay that man!
Joe Judge - Tip o' the cap to you sir. Didn't think this was a W.
-
I still think 5-11 is the record we finish with.
And now?
-
I still think 5-11 is the record we finish with.
And now?
This was one i had as an L. So I'm giving Joe his props.
To answer your question -- now I think 6 wins is the baseline.
More than 6? Hats and socks off to Joe. And i'm not a Gettleman basher.
-
8-8 or bust
And yeah - Mr Judge appears to be a special coach.
-
8-8 or bust
And yeah - Mr Judge appears to be a special coach.
Nice to make your prediction for the season after weak 13 ...
Not gonna take 8 - 8 to win the division.
-
I wasnt predicting 8-8 just now - but I did scoff at 5-11 preseason - and that was with Barkley - easy call I thought to take the over there. Giants even better than I figured. One of the key reasons has been a player I have championed all along - Jabril Peppers.
-

Championed here? Heh. Easy to scoff and pick winners after the fact.
-
On Peppers all the way. Sorry, pal.
Not sure it was you who didn't like him at time of the deal though searching this particular forum does show a snarky negative post re:. JPepp's defense.
-
Daniel Jones is looking so bad.
-
Jury out on THOMAS , who had made some decent strides. Today - crapweasel.
-
Ok Jets are still winning the Lawrence sweepstakes. Enough foolishness.
-
Should have played Mc Coy for at least another week.
-
Should have played Mc Coy for at least another week.
Yep. As championed here.
-
yeah he looked good

Run it baby

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Colt McCoy will start at quarterback for the New York Giants on Sunday night in place of the injured Daniel Jones, sources told ESPN.
https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/30554590/sources-new-york-giants-start-qb-colt-mccoy-injured-daniel-jones
Starting Jones with rust and injuries would be nuts. No more turnovers please.
-
Rams coach goes for TD on 4th and four, easy FG range. There goes Lawrence. Jets win and cannot do anything right.
-
Is D. Jones a franchise QB? Too loose with football?
-
Ah, shit - what happened?
Giants had a lock on this game
-
Joe Pisarcik flashbacks
-
Disgusting and unethical, throwing such an important game. Third stringer clearly was not ready.
-
Philly gets #6 pick instead of #9 had they won
All we can do is hope they choke on it
Giants by winning move behind Dallas - but will get a solid best available at whatever slot they select - to add to an improving and up and coming squad. Probably thinking wide out or linebacker.
-
Creep Eagle coach got fired by owner who wanted no blame for tank job.
-
I do not like Jets choice as coach. Another DC with no HC experience. Downhill spiral continues.
-
Creep Eagle coach got fired by owner who wanted no blame for tank job.
Owner didnt like the answers he got
-
Owner did not want to be called a sore loser creep by fellow owners.
-
Nice trade for Jets, get a haul and erase the memory. Sammy is never going to lead a team to the SB.
-
No first rounder?
Bahhhhhh.............
-
OK Jets finally end the Darnold misery era. Still have nobody to catch the ball and a defensive HC who does not understand that offense now wins.
I am not a big fan of Daniel Jones but trade down WR with speed looks like a good move.
Another long season for big apple fans? Not for Tampa Bay area fans where ageless goat QB reigns supreme.
-
OK Jets finally end the Darnold misery era. Still have nobody to catch the ball and a defensive HC who does not understand that offense now wins.
Day 2
-
OK jets get a new start with Zack. Face reality and get top OL.
Giants once again get mistreated by Eagles who steal the top WR. GM is too old and
incompetent. OL issues not addressed. Is Jones the answer?
Tampa Bay GM showed them how to go from worst to first.
-
Did you want WATSON or RODGERS to be a Giant (Tampa Bay model)?

Tom Brady ain't walking through that door.
-
AR but jints need more than a QB. Still paying for drafting a RB. Tampa got two goats had wrs and OL.
-
You still want fuckin Darnold?

It says here NY teams will disappoint again. Easy prediction.
-
I vow to win IronMan fantasy this year, using the Giants QB at least half the games. How's that for confidence?
-
Watching jets jints, these are two terrible teams. Wilson OK.
-
Jets look OK, Wilson not shakey.
-
against brownies wrs and rbs looked ok hard to judge with 2nd stringers, no Jones.
-
yes, Kenny Yeboah!
-
GIANTS v NEW ENGLAND comin up
Nice.
-
Whew.
Nice drive, Jonesy/
Shitty end zone decision.
Work in progress.
-
Sorry - that's D Jones
Forgot there were 2 of them this game
-
Pats' Jones is actually RFG
Actually looking forward to Browns-Falcons as well
-
Not much to see. Another uninspiring draft class. DJ did his usual 1 TD 1 turnover. The OL is as terrible as ever. Skill positions on offense show little. Defense shows some talent and growth. Time for a going away party for Gettleman? .500 improbable.
-
Disagree.
Jones to Shepherd
And a big comeback year for Saquon.
-
Jones has more confidence this year? No turnovers.
-
No defense yes a turnover from dj, another wasted year.
-
These are not big time contenders, the broncos for crissakes. Treated the jints like rag dolls.
-
Saquon looks like a gimp. Which is why you do not draft a RB in round one!
-
Took T Hill, left Saquon and a few other quality RBs
Paid off first week
-
Shepherd and Jones should be on my team before long. Deciding now on whether or not to cut Rodgers
-
0-2 again. Offsides on a FG try you can't coach stupidity like that. Two really bad teams in a tight game.
-
Two FGs against the worst defense in the NFL!
-
Two FGs against the worst defense in the NFL!
It is what games between two bad football teams look like.
-
I was calling for G-men to go for it on 4th and 9 with 2 minutes left.
But I guess you cant do that.
Dimes was good statistically - but not punching it in when you get to the red zone first half is the negative. Not getting in FG range the last drive - consequential
Had a great run on the 2 point conversion.
-
Jones looked improved, avoided turnovers and made some yardage. The rest of the team is highly deficient. WRs are the worst in the league, next to the Jets? OL is being rebuilt. A ragged undisciplined bunch on defense. I am not at all impressed with the coaching. Not too many teams worst than the Falcons on the schedule.
-
Shepherd injury a killer
-
10 years of injury excuses. Maras are just putting out a terrible product. Shepard wont change anything. He has not caught more than 4 tds since 2016.
-
Develop a player then enjoy when they prosper.
Its BEEN the Giants way all along
-
oh no both NY teams win.
-
Happy to say I went 2-0 vs spread in those games and had the Jets to win outright
G-men just lost their leader. Glennon in again
-
Both NY teams with 2nd string QBs. Betting them this week Kid?
-
I picked the Jets to cover. Got both wins right (Eagles, Phins)
1-1 v spread.
Glennon was OK. Wanted Judge to go for it earlier from the 42. Analyst says, "you just want to keep it a one score game". But then Miami scores - goes up 11 and you dont get that 4th and 2 back.
-
Judge in over his head? Team is run like everyone is scared of losing their job. They constantly take the mediocre over taking the talented with a question mark. So sick of 4.7, 4 TDs WRs.
-
Some better luck would help cure this team
Fromm should have been in sooner today
Bravo to the defense.
-
team just gets worse!
-
Love the Joe Judge press conference.
Some tidbits here
https://nypost.com/2022/01/02/joe-judge-makes-desperate-plea-to-save-job-with-postgame-rant/
-
jints HCs just get worse and worse. Please go away with Gettleman. Bozo the clown is available.
-
What? They scored.
-
jints HCs just get worse and worse. Please go away with Gettleman. Bozo the clown is available.
Problem of the HC temporarily solved.
GM not so much.
Owner? Hahahahaha!
-
So.....
HARBAUGH?
-
The Giants need a QB, a HC and a new OC, an OL, a GM, a Pass defense, LBs, and a few more things.
Other than that, they're in good shape.
-
Makings of a good defense
Missed Martinez and Peppers
I am sticking with this QB but if the new GM wants/drafts Pickett who am I to complain?
Figuring the top center and the Notre Dame safety with the 2 picks

Hmmmmm
One mock has us taking Malik Willis of Liberty
I recall a couple years back liking Jackson out of Louisville and saying so here. Let's just watch it play out. BIG opportunity for D Jones if Giants do not draft a QB. HUGE year for him.
-
If I were the Giants GM I draft OL with my first three picks, Cross, Linderbaum, Green, if I can get them. And the only other guy I'd even consider putting in there is Stingley.
-
Hamilton is a consideration for me
Have seen him go anywhere from 3rd to 8th
-
Jints need to rebuild their offense completely.
-
No better place to start than the OL.
-
No better place to start than the OL.
Gee, ya think?
You're a regular George Young.
-
Young never drafted an offensive lineman in the first round if memory serves. So your wise crack is non yakquitur.
I wisecrack myself up.
-
William Roberts, Eric Moore and Brian Williams.
-
I stand corrected. One of those was the steroids guy right?
-
This is my latest Fanspeak on the clock mock draft. I'd be very happy if the Giants ended up with this exact draft.
5: R1 P5 OT Charles Cross - Mississippi State
7: R1 P7 C Tyler Linderbaum - Iowa
36: R2 P4 G Kenyon Green - Texas A&M
67: R3 P3 S Lewis Cine - Georgia
81: R3 P17 LB Christian Harris - Alabama
109: R4 P7 EDGE Boye Mafe - Minnesota (could eventually be an amazing steal at 109)
146: R5 P4 TE Charlie Kolar - Iowa State
174: R5 P32 WR Danny Gray - SMU
182: R6 P3 CB Joshua Williams - Fayetteville State (I love this kid. Smooth with great hips and a head turner to boot)
-
I think a qb will be drafted
-
Which one do you see as most likely?
-
Shot in the dark - Ridder or Hartman
https://www.profootballnetwork.com/top-10-quarterbacks-in-the-2022-nfl-draft-kenny-pickett-matt-corral-continue-their-ascension/
When the time comes I will let you know if I would take a QB early as I did with LaMar and with Tua.
QBs can be team changers
-
I like this draft too.
5: R1 P5 OT Evan Neal - Alabama
7: R1 P7 C Tyler Linderbaum - Iowa
36: R2 P4 OT Darian Kinnard - Kentucky
67: R3 P3 S Daxton Hill - Michigan
81: R3 P17 CB Jalyn Armour-Davis - Alabama
109: R4 P7 EDGE Christopher Allen - Alabama
146: R5 P4 EDGE Boye Mafe - Minnesota
174: R5 P32 WR Charleston Rambo - Miami
182: R6 P3 RB James Cook - Georgia

Interesting. Thwy have Limderbaum going in the 20s to the Cards. I was thinking he would be a good choice for us at 13. You can get pretty good value at WR in the second.
-
Totally disappointed, another fat slob with no HC experience. When will the losing end? Looks like somemore 3-5 win seasons in the horizon. A perfectly good Santa Clause talent!
-

I'll reserve my opinion until the draft. If we pick up 2 offensive linemen with the first two picks and another in the second round, then I'll figure we finally got someone competent. A good offensive line makes everyone else look good.
-
. If we pick up 2 offensive linemen with the first two picks and another in the second round, ... .
Overkill.
-
something wrong with the run game, They used to dominate.
-
Which players do you like/dislike, Luee? Lets start there.
-

Overkill.
Not if one of them doesn't pan out. Nothing is a guarantee.
-
OK, not impressed with anyone on offense any all-stars? Any close? Mediocre at best.
-
Mara is micromanaging. Management is fearful of making a mistake.

My latest Fanspeak draft:
5: R1 P5 OT Evan Neal - Alabama
7: R1 P7 C Tyler Linderbaum - Iowa
36: R2 P4 G Kenyon Green - Texas A&M
67: R3 P3 CB Jalyn Armour-Davis - Alabama
81: R3 P17 EDGE Boye Mafe - Minnesota
109: R4 P7 WR George Pickens - Georgia
146: R5 P4 LB Dominique Robinson - Miami (OH)
172: R5 P30 WR Charleston Rambo - Miami
182: R6 P3 CB Joshua Williams - Fayetteville State
-
I'm not taking a tackle if I am the Giants. C (unless someone great should drop) at number 5. DB or Edge at 7. Guard at 36. QB round 4 thru 7.
-

I cannot fathom a draft in which Pickens is.available in the 4th round. I know he basically missed the whole year but he is a high 1st round talent. Even if there are questions that drop him down due to the injury someone takes a shot at him way before that.
-
At least Cap has the corner and the edge in round 3.
Charleston Rambo? That's an actual guy? Sign me up.
-

Graham heads to Vegas.
Giants should hire Flores.
-
Will he take it and run with it gladly or with a chip on his shoulder?
Will it be a circus every week given the lawsuit?
-
Flores isn't getting an NFL job anytime soon I think.

Latest draft with trades:
5: R1 P5 CB Derek Stingley - LSU
30: R1 P30 WR Chris Olave - Ohio State

172: R5 P30 G Chasen Hines - LSU

Anyone who watched the Senior Bowl now knows why I've drafted Boye Mafe in every one of my Fanspeak drafts. Im sure he'll be moving up most of the big boards after yesterday's showing.
-
Dealing the #7 Cap? Wow.
-
Trades, if you don't fall too far, has always been the way to go IMO.
-
5. New York Giants: OT Evan Neal, Alabama
Scouting report blurb: "Neal has rare athleticism for his size, possessing quick feet and lower body flexibility to get out of his stance and work to the second level."
The Giants' offensive line is in desperate need of help. Potentially losing several starters also doesn't help. If Neal is there at five, this pick has to be a no-brainer.
Agree?
-
Luv Kafka as OC learned from the qb friendly best, Andy Reid. HC after santa claus flames out?

Personally I love Daboll. His in-line TE and spread formations are well suited for today's game. I love how he line his TE up in the box. He also forces a lot of backend deep coverage with his stuff. Sure, it's a checkdown offense a lot of the time. But with a good OL and even a halfway adequate QB it can be easily run if you have a great OL. So that is why I adamantly say, DRAFT O-LINE with our first 3 picks. DO IT DO IT DO IT!!!
-
Giants have their two tackles. Grab the C/G
We have one tackle that I know of worth keeping. Unless we've made a trade lately.

Where were the Giants in pass protection last year? Last or second to last? There is not a soul on there that cannot be replaced. Get the best player you can.

Andrew Thomas is the Giants' best player. There's as much chance of Giants replacing him (or needing to) as there was with the Browns replacing their tackle Thomas, similarly their best player, all those years when they were terrible.

How many Pro Bowls has your Thomas been to in his first two years?
-
That question does nothing to refute my statement.
-
That question does nothing to refute my statement.
Well, the comp was off. You have seen more of your Thomas than I have (the one full game I saw.v Carolina was quite possibly the worst game i have seen in years and I am a Browns fan) so I will defer. Which in no way changes the idea that the team should take the best OL available regardless of position. There is always the right side.
-

Yes, he rates very good according to pff, just under the top level.

Hmm
Agree to disagree
Edit - brainlock on the injury to Peart
-
Peart is never going to be a top-notch tackle. Unless of course he fixes his terrible footwork. Plus he's a waist-bender. At this stage of his game he just doesn't cut it IMO.
-
Trevor Penning is a friggin beast however. And as mean and nasty as they come. In fact, he reminds me of me, only on the other side of the rock. I love the guy for our first pick assuming Neal is gone. Defensive ends are going to learn to hate this guy very fast and for multiple reasons.
-

Well, he's out for the year so opinions matter not
-
But drafting heavily and early on the OL does matter.
-
Is that how the Bengals are in the Super Bowl?
-
Is that how the Bengals are in the Super Bowl?
You think Joe Burrows is walking through that door on draft day?
-
Not this year, no.
I would look at Wilson and a couple of others.
And certainly consider drafting Malik Willis in round 2 - or even move up to late round 1 (or having moved down from 7) and take him.
Earlier posts here had me taking LaMarr Jackson (in a traade up) and Tua Tagavioloa. 2 guys who could be Giants franchise QB right now. (I also of course approved the Jones pick when it occurred)

Is that how the Bengals are in the Super Bowl?
Psst, they lost. Besides they HAVE a quarterback. Giants could have had Allen. Then my mindset on the draft may be totally different.
The Giants draft stupidly. They could have had Micah Parsons last year. I like Toney but he wasn't the correct pick. NOT! NOT! NOT!

We will need to see how the extra picks (for moving off Parsons) work out as well

To replace a guy like Parsons they better "work out" to an exceptional degree.
-
Parsons was the 12th pick
How you love him so. And deserved.
Yet not even considering taking a defensive.guy this year with 5 or 7. Nor did you agree with me even a little bit on Isiah Simmons. Don't understand that
Parsons now wants to play offense. Interesting.

It is not the GM its the ownership. Team has been in a sharp downward spiral since Mara started playing an active role. This is the worst team ever looks like the 2-3 win slot. I just don't know where to start in the draft. Another OL drafted high? How about going heavy defense? So bad, so sad!
-
So many needed positions means you cant really screw up too bad. Take 4-5 guys that can play now. Offense. Defense. Line. Specialist. Whatever.
Only think pretty sure is Giants dont take a QB
-
Did not know until now that Evan Engram was picked up by Jags. A pro-bowl talent on offense.
-
Rumored that Jones may not be resigned. Cannot even get excited about the draft. Jets either. Tampa Bay ok.
-
Giants passed on the re-up. So would need to franchise tag him to keep him.
-
Looks good, got some big ones. No RBs or TEs in the first round. But these are the Giants.
-
Great first round. Very well played.
-
So who is less terrible this year. Giants or Jets?
-
Annual game for city champ. Neither team has an offensive all-star. Battle of question mark QBs. Jints HC looks like another fat slob. Never a good sign. Jets have another injury prone QB. Coming off a dismal 4-13 season, not much from the HC here.
-
Happy to see experts picking a nice bounce back for Saquon.
Now if they would just clue in on Jonesy.
-
Last RB to comeback from 2 years of injuries?
-
Cmon, man - Barkley played 13 games last year including the last 8. Rushed for 100+ in week 17.
A good year? Nope. But Giants are improved.

OK wrong on this one. Something to root for.
-
Not sure I would franchise tag him for 32 mil but Danny Dimes sure showing poise and leadership in early going.
-
Hey, we don't suck.
So far.
Likin the defense.
Offense is a little better Jones is still not the guy. Neal is making a lot of rookie mistakes and getting taken to school a lot. He needs to stop leaning and try and get his knees to perform their function. AKA play with balance. Right now, on a lot of plays I've seen, his center of gravity is all wrong. He leans too much and loses balance when defenders get off him. Watching him, and I loathe saying it because I want him to succeed, he may not be quick enough to play tackle at the pro level. But if he can correct and adjust who knows. Otherwise he eventually gets moved to guard.
-
I still do not know. No talent around him turned even Eli into a bum. Mara has not drafted well.
-
Not sure Drake London with one of the two picks want a good idea.
-
Heh. London last night would have been nice.
Too damn many drops.
Thumbs up, Saquon. And an OK game for Jones.
2-1 - a must win week 4 to keep enthusiasm (on national level) going for Dabol.
-
Dimes it up!
Not turning the ball over. Scramblin like Fran...
-
Big, big, game over the pond.
-
Enticing -7.5. But I fear this is a Rodgers stage game.
Green Bay by 10. Dimes detractors return in force.
-
Amazing win with no WRs. Brit cheeseheads distraught. Good coaching wins out.
-
"Jones still not the guy"
Heh.

Not so much.
-
Both NY teams in a winning mode after all those losers. Amazing. Giants developing an OL now get some WRs and Jones will be better than OK.
-
Hail D Jones!
Hail S Barkley!
Hail NY Giants!!!!!
(The former GM will take all apologies as they come)
-
Big upset by jets of all people take the ten plus and you win.Now if they could only beat Pats for a change.

Jones still ain't the guy. No apolgies here. Giants overacheiving talent wise because of great coaching and scheming.
-
Giants just do not have wideouts. Arguably worst group in the NFL. Still team is much improved.
-
I wanted Drake London. But we took the tackle.
-
Some pass catchers, please. More drops than a 50 year old sink.
-
Giants better sign Danny dimes before someone steals him?
-
OK lets see how they perform in the pressure of play-offs. So exciting after a 6 year wait!
-
Enjoy the game Luee
-
Have to love the signing, do they have enough left to sign some catching threats?
-
Ok Giants finally draft a WR with downtown ability. Gotta give danny something. About the 5th round is where you draft a RB.
What is it with the Jets and HOF greenbay QBs on the downside? deja vu all over again.
-
Trey Lance is a bust, cost the 49ers plenty. Darnoid the Jets bust beat him for the back-up role. He must be terrible. Did not cost much to test. Can you remember any high bust who came back to be a good starter for another team?

Ryan Tannehill.
-
Caleb Williams will look good in a Giants uniform.
-
Who is worse Zack or his coach? Giants should be better OL problems; using a rookie center?
-
From a NY fan glad Jets won at least they have a chance in play-offs. Wheels falling off for giants. Poor Danny Dimes at least he cashed in for last year.
-
Ok lets have a look at TDV while he is still in one plece. 9 sacks and he still performed. A small something to look forward to this year. Dont win too much a lot of good ones at the top of the draft.
