With nearly 97 per cent of votes counted, Adams, the Brooklyn borough president, had a commanding lead with just almost 31.7 per cent of the vote, according to the Board of Elections.

Wiley, a former counsel to de Blasio who has promised to strip $1bn from the police department budget, stood at 22.2 per cent, while Garcia, the former head of the sanitation department, had 19.5 per cent.

Yang, an affable outsider who made his name with a long-shot bid for the Democratic presidential nomination, had enjoyed frontrunner status for months. But first-round results showed him stuck at just 11.7 per cent, confirming a drop off in his campaign as election day neared.

So they had an election in New York for Mayor.
It turned out to be about crime.

More to come.

We don't know what it was about yet, Ward. We don't know who won, but we know the Law and Order candidate got less than a third of the vote, which hardly makes it "about crime."

SCOTUS finally flexed its  conservative muscle today in a strong endorsement of property rights.
The 6-3 decision nixed a California regulation  that requires farmers to allow union organizers onto their property three hours a day for 120 days each year.

The 6 Conservatives, led by CJ John Roberts, agreed with the property owners  that the regulation was equivalent to a time-limited government easement and thus constituted what’s known as a “per se” physical taking of property.
The Constitution’s takings clause provides that private property shall not “be taken for public use, without just compensation.”

Red's trolling, but he's telegraphing the Rs talking point about resurgent crime in D-run cities.

Dems/Biden have to address a real problem born out of Trump's mishandling of covid and blowing up the economy.

And not pretend its not a problem.

People are hurting and now are hurting each other

So Joe has to play it straight, and maybe play tough, support smart law enforcement, get guns off the street

its might be an uncomfortable balancing act to message but he has to deal with it head on

Even if he hurts some feelings because the Repubs are going to take Willie Horton out of retirement.

They don't give a fuck who they hurt.

Scary black people, boo!

GOP runs the same play time and again. It’s like the Packer Sweep, USC’s Student Body Right.

They’ll run that play until voters stop biting on it.

Here's what's going on in the world today.

. 3,000+ people under 21 have been kidnapped by strangers in the USA since 2010.
. Every 15 seconds in the US a home is invaded by strangers, 30% of the invaders are armed.

Absolute security protects absolutely.

People under 21 should be trained in gun use and carry a gun 24/7.
People with an income of $7,500 or less are most likely to be home during the invasions. Yes, poor people get it in the neck again.
Govt and cops can't stop the invasions. People should carry guns and make their homes secure.

Damn!

I live in Ward 7 of the Southeast quadrant of the Distict of Columbia and I’m not as scared as you!

The 3000 kids kidnapped are someone's children.
Grieving parents and siblings.

If the bad people invade your home today/tonite, are you ready?
While I've been making this post 8 homes in America have
been invaded.

I virtually dropped into the Cathedral service for  the late Senator John Warner and amid all the accolades one thought that stuck in my head was, ‘Brother did Liz Taylor...’

Republicans defund the police, peddle guns, and steal votes, so the Sacklers, trumps, Rick Scott, and Matt Gaetz can have all the money they want to fund their peculiar hobbies. It’s no surprise that crime always goes up as a result of a republican administration. That’s why we’ll never have a republican administration again in the United States. The party exists to pervert the law and destroy order.

Peace, prosperity, and progress all depend on Democratic control and are impossible in this country without it.

Nobody likes republicans, but more importantly nobody trusts them. That’s why they’ll lose.

Child tax refund checks start next month thanks to no republicans ever. Not a single elected republican gives a fuck about the American family.

This is so enraging.

Not that our history is better - we have committed so many atrocities that we can't even keep track of them all.

Why would you comment on this article by citing the US?

Why wouldn't I?!

Is there some reason that I should point out others' egregious conduct and ignore our own?!

Kid’s guilty conscience shines like a beacon illuminating one alabastard atrocity after another.

Or whomever scummy Ron DeSantis chooses to complete the emblematic republican congressman’s term once he’s cuffed and stuffed as justice demands.

Correction:
It's every 30 seconds...a home invasion every 30 seconds.
"Home invasion" includes burglaries.
