Thanks for the advice Tony.
Some very good tips and info there.
I've saved it all for planning and future use if necessary.
The van life folk, some retirees, ...are very resourceful.
Solar, generators, portable power sources that can be recharged from any powerpoint in a club, mall etc.
Strings of mini lights USB that plug into a phone size portable power source, butane cannister powered camp stoves, etc...all new to me.
One guy hired a U Haul truck and lived in the back of it for 2 days, parked in the street at night. Cooked, slept, strung the lights around.
Showering, night parking, and heat would be my biggest problems. Also day shade parking without having to pay for camp grounds and caravan parks.

To me, the then-President's refusal to call off the rioters, the insurrectionists, is prima facie evidence of his complicity in the attack on the Capitol Building and on Congress and Pence.

If, as the asinine attorneys for Trump claimed, Trump was peacemaking all along, then he would have been on that. Instead, he refused.

It's not a criminal trial,  so the words of Trump don't have to meet some technical standard of incitement.   It's sufficient to show he was acting irresponsibly and failing to perform the duties of his office in preventing a riot.  That,  in itself,  merits a ban from holding the office again.   The Beutler testimony doesn't seem all that important -- it's either already clear that Trump supported the rioters or it isn't. 

When Trump has used physically violent rhetoric in the past,  it is often literal,  and not metaphorical.  Don't worry if you bang the guy's head when you put him in the patrol car.   Rough up that protestor, or reporter.   Have your guns ready,  you may need them.  When the looting starts,  the shooting starts. Liberate Michigan.   Etc. 

I find the "Pence eulogy" tweet an intriguing side issue.

Looks like we are in for a long haul.  One opinion heard is that this falls well for the Republicans in being able to show the continued folly of the entire matter to the public.

But what witnesses do you think would serve Trump here? Anybody from the militiamen?

Important that Doug Schoen is not in attendance today, I'd think.

As for Trump-side witnesses - I do not know.

McCarthy seems the key guy here - though quite possibly not for the better for Trump.  But there are likely others.  And could of course be a few more surprise witnesses for the prosecution.

 Was hoping it would be over today.   Exercises in futility not that fun to watch.   And saying it's a messaging system for the Democratic Party is not persuasive.   No one who disagrees with the messaging is going to be persuaded by anything.  The only witness that would help ascertain Trump's intent would be some west winger who was there as he watched the riot on tv.

Trump's mens rea.is established by a) the past five years, the past three months,  and b) his reported glee while watching the riot on tv.   A witness could firm that up,  maybe,  but what difference would it make?   What percent of independent and moderate GOP voters are paying attention?   What moderate GOP senators are going to try and assert moral leadership over their torch and pitchfork- bearing constituents?

Who ever said keeping a democracy was clean and from time to time you had to fight for it and maybe get a little dirty.

Its likely "over" no matter how many witnesses testify to Trump's daming role in the insurrection and his indifferenece to protecting and defending the Constitution.

You can't find 17-Rep votes to convict Trump or admit to their own cuplability in letting this guy run wild over the Constitution

its seems obvious for some time the Senate-Repubs are also on trial for their cowardice and accountability in enabling Trump.

So let the evidence play out and be heard, if not for Trump's guilt or innocence, but rather to let the American people see democracy in action and judge their senator's judgement.
