Deception or error?   I haven't seen their reportage on the Columbus shooting,  so don't know what they said or what retractions if any were made.   Any documentation of "deception" mich appreciated.

I cannot find anything except a brief tweet from the NYT  which didn't include details on the girl having a knife.   Twitter is not the paper's main report,  which is an article in the paper,  and did include those details.   So actually reading the NYT would not result in being deceived, and the tweet was simply to say that someone was killed by a police officer.  Pretty thin sauce,  Kid.

Here's a new case that poses real questions about using lethal force on someone when they attempt to leave and are not armed.  And has also raised the usual questions about transparency.

The Pasquotank County Sheriff’s Office is being pressed to release the body-cam footage of the police encounter that killed Andrew Brown Jr., 42, after declining to share much information about the events that resulted in the shooting. Harry Daniels, an attorney for the victim’s family, said Brown — whose death triggered peaceful demonstrations of hundreds over two nights — was unarmed at the time of shooting.

Pasquotank County Sheriff Tommy Wooten said in a video statement that the deputy fired at Brown when he started to drive away in a car as authorities tried to serve him a warrant on felony drug charges. All of the deputies at the scene, who have yet to be named, have been placed on administrative leave “until we know all the facts,” Wooten said...
