Latest sub-50* temperature in recorded history (1872) in Boston, by 5 days.

It is the furthest along in the year in Boston that the temperature has dropped below 50 degrees since the year Josh mentioned when it last happened this far into October.

Pay it no mind. Manchin needs his money.

It is still good that there are no actual republicans involved in any important discussions pertaining to the future of this country at all. Those guys are proven dipshits and are consistently totally useless human beings, slow ugly children at play one and all.

So he is saying the temperature only just dropped below 50 for the first time since early Spring.   OK,  guess my Dakota brain needed a moment to process that.  Not that odd if you are in the sunbelt, but strange for New England.

I think that to the extent that Red seems to believe himself to be (and we regard him as) something other than a standard-issue hypocrite and political hack is one of this place's enduring mysteries.

Yep.   Am going to settle on a couple simple rules - one,  confine replies to one line, and two,  ignore squirrel gambits, sea lion queries,  and vacuous partisan taunts.  That leaves maybe five percent of posts.  Which are usually pastes from a partisan infotainer devoid of fact.

Not sure I am following you there.

It's approaching winter. The temperature drops.

Our high temp for a day in Boston did not go below 70* in September for the first time on record. The previous record fewest was 3, twice, then a few years with 5.

Our temperatures in October are also higher, with the cold temps coming later in the year than ever we have seen.

When Marines of the US Marines 1st Division ship out to a war zone, the music they ship out to is:
'Waltzing Matilda'.

Every camp they set up is named 'Matilda'.

Their blue patch has the numeral 1 in red, and the white stars of the Southern Cross.

Cool.
And, I suppose the band plays Waltzing Matilda when the legless, the armless, the blind and insane return and get carried down the gangway.  But nobody cheers, they just stand.
and stare, or turn their faces away.

People have learnt a lot since WW1.

1943, after Guadalcanal, the Marines, ...weary, wounded, worn out, no supplies, were evacuated to Brisbane.
Brisbane is built on a flood plain. When the Marines arrived the only place there was for them was swamp and shacks.
Their general said they had to be moved, US Navy said no ships.
Melbourne offered to take them, their general made it happen.
Marines were housed in a newly built hospital and it is said the people of Melb opened their homes to the Marines.
In winter Aussie troops gave them their coats.
The design was adopted by their navy or whatever.
The Marines had a parade thru Melb ...and their band played Waltzjng Matilda. The crowds went wild with appreciation.
And so the 1st Division adopted Waltzing Matilda and the stars of the Southern Cross.

No - that was just when records started being kept. It has never happened before that we know of.

President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden were seen violating Washington, D.C. indoor mask mandate at an upscale Georgetown restaurant on Saturday.

We have a leadership problem, namely Joe Biden has no credibility.
