I commend to you the short history at oldtimeislands.org/pledge/pledge.htm which explains what Bellamy was thinking about, in his own words, when he wrote it.

p.s. Francis was the cousin of Edward Bellamy, author:

There's a dispute on who wrote the Pledge of Allegiance. Was it Francis or Frank?

This tale of rival Bellamies made me Ralph.

Seriously I think the mystery is resolved by the phrase "Baptist preacher-turned advertising agent..."

Abortion is now solely up to each state.
Congress cannot codify it

That would be unconstitutional.

The Constitution gives the Federal Government no authority to overrule state abortion laws.

Baptist preacher and advertising agent...

These are not mutually exclusive terms, nor can they be ignored in this case.

The judicial Power of the United States, shall be vested in one supreme Court, and in such inferior Courts as the Congress may from time to time ordain and establish. The Judges, both of the supreme and inferior Courts, shall hold their Offices during good Behaviour, and shall, at stated Times, receive for their Services, a Compensation, which shall not be diminished during their Continuance in Office.

"Good Behavior" is not defined, but we can have Congress define it. And it would seem that perjury would be not considered "good behavior". This would jeopardize a few of those justices' tenure on the Court. Then there is the matter of Justice Thomas and his potential perjury, as well as his connection to Ginny Thomas and the nature of her influence on his decisions, and the fact that he could be investigated for this and impeached.

So, the Constitution has laid out exactly how to restore America to its former glory, and arrest these radical extremists and end their mission to destroy the country.

Thumbs up to that.  However IIRC Senate needs a 2/3 majority to convict.  So at this point we can only dream.

Nice job sleepy joe of combating violence in the streets by defunding and decriminalizing. How about taking guns off the streets? Better yet let a younger and more lucid Kamala do all the heavy lifting.

Breaking the thieving republicans and their murderous death cult is a real problem to concentrate on.

If a republican has something, he stole it.

If a republican says something, he is lying.

If a republican loves something, he will torture and pervert it until it dies.

Your understanding of how America works - and doesn't - is equivalent to Ward's, but in totally different ways.

What would you like any president to do to take "guns off the street?" Especially given this SCOTUS that just gutted New York's laws that kept a lot of guns off the street?

Note that (a) the president defunded no police organizations, (b) was opposed to defunding them, (c) decriminalized nothing.

But also note that Highland Park defunded nobody and Illinois defunded nobody and decriminalized nothing but pot.

Quote
Among the changes the bill will bring are the elimination of monetary bail, a requirement that all police officers wear body cameras by 2025, a ban on all police chokeholds, new guidelines for "decertification" of police officers, and an end to suspended licenses for failure to pay, among several other changes. It also bans police departments from purchasing military equipment like .50 caliber rifles and tanks, increases protection for whistleblowers, and adds to rights for detainees to make phone calls and access their personal contacts before police questioning.

Detainees, prisoners and all those who interact with police officers will have the expectation of prompt medical care while in custody, with special accommodations made for pregnant women. Charges of resisting arrest must cite a justification for the original arrest that was allegedly resisted against under the measure, as well.

So, Luee - which of those changes do you think led to the Highland Park shooting? I do understand that a Fox talking head blames their "soft on crime" approach for his brother's shooting in this event, but even he struggled to support his rationale.

Really, I want to know what you think could realistically have been done, given the GOP bent on gun control, to keep this from having happened.

I'll wait here.

How is it possible that democrats were elected to lead the the executive and legislative branches of the Federal Government and 75 per cent of Americans now say the Country is headed in the WRONG direction?

Discuss.
(LOL!)

We had the discussion. You cannot recall it. You are too fucking dense. It went right over your head.

What's funny is Josh posted the David Ignatius column on how people are losing confidence in government, which cited the same polling that Ward did, and all he had was "LOL." That post saved me some time, confirming there was no need to engage.
LOL!

Same level of discourse.

That is to say, flat-lined.

LOL. A man telling women reproductive freedom is not a "real problem". I hope you people keep it up. If there is anything that can save Dems in this election cycle, that would be it.

Spoken by somebody who has never been a poor woman or one threatened by the man in her life who doesn't want children and blames her for her pregnancy but also would not take "no" as an answer or wear a condom - and who lives in one of the states that wants to control what a woman does.

The Supreme Court has called for an increase in violence against women and more murders of them and it will get them.

And doofuses like you and Luee will blame the president (if he is not a Republican).
