It's possible that earners, especially in lower cost of living states, who are making above, say, 70K, don't need that much help to pay off student loans. There's no reason the proposal can't be fine tuned towards Pell students and those who have fallen prey to scam lenders and/or institutions that make false guarantees and have weak curricula. Should also look at whether they are in a dual wage-earning family unit and splitting overhead costs.
What Ward failed to note the other day was that the NAACP was objecting to Biden's plan, not because it was giving money to the affluent, bur rather because it didn't do enough to help the lowest wage-earners with the higher debt loads. Like them, I think the goal should be a Robin Hood initiative that helps those under predatory debt burdens.
