That is right. An opinion columnist. The opinion of the Washington Post is reflected in its editorials.

For the record I think the idea is a bad one too. Unlike you I will not be voting for Trump, though.

Not if you can read.
Which you obviously cannot.

The editorial boards of the Washington Post and the Wall Street Journal agree!

Kamala Harris is an economic dunce in proposing federal government legislation bordering on certain to fail socialistic ideas.

Ms. Harris says she will  target companies that make excessive profits, whatever that means. (It is hard to see how groceries, a notoriously low margin business, would qualify.) Thankfully, this gambit by Ms. Harris has been met with almost instant skepticism, with many critics citing the President Richard M. Nixon failed price controls from the 1970s. Whether the Harris proposal wins over voters remains to be seen, but if sound economic analysis still matters, it will not.

Washington Post Editorial Board

If Ms. Harris really believes in this price-fixing, she lacks the most basic understanding of economics. If she is merely floating it to be able to get  price gouging into a speech, her cynicism is also telling.

Oligarchs for gouging workers feel very threatened right now. It is amazing how quickly they have circled wagons even across platforms that pretend to be in competition with one another.

Burning down the little credibility left to the WaPost and Weak Sauce Journal is a small price for oligarchs to pay for keeping the lane open to rip off the American public.

Agree to the extent that the proposal is clumsy and does not pinpoint actual price gouging (versus rises in commodities prices due to rising expenses of labor, production, transport, etc) as well as it claims to.

I don't think plans fail because they are socialistic (places with public power districts have delivered excellent service and low rates) but because they are half-baked.  Harris is quite able to work with Congress and competent economic advisors to refine her idea once she is in the Oval.

WSJ Editorial board is a GOP mouthpiece and WaPo editorial board is now led by Murdoch disciples.

Because price gouging is nonexistent.

So was Nixon. But when the price controls went in all hell broke loose.

A rare point of agreement by the two Posts.
Well done by the New York version.

Matt Murray has been Editor in Chief of the WaPo since early July 2024. He was Editor in Chief of the WALL STREET JOURNAL from 2018 to 2023.

How so?
Both newspapers have separate news divisions and editorial staffs.
