Then they are no different from any other group of legal workers that come in to fill jobs. 

But you argued racism was at the core of the Springfield situation.
The Mayor and other city officials laid the blame on the Federal Government.

No, I said racism (fanned by JD Vance and Trump) is at the core of the DIFFERENT respective reactions to a large influx of workers in ND and in Springfield Ohio.  That the Mayor et al in Springfield would lay blame with the Biden admin immigration policies does not in any way make community reactions (and Team Trump's hate mongering) less racist.  While it's true your article did mention the Mayor et al blaming the federal response

JD Vance, the Republican nominee for vice president, invoked Springfield in July to criticize the Biden administrations border policies. That month, the citys mayor and manager went on the cable news program Fox and Friends calling for assistance to handle an influx that they blamed on the federal government. 

It is also a fact that the Mayor also later defended Haitian immigrants as decent people who helped save Springfields economy.  Clearly feelings be ambivalent there.  Would that some of that towns less friendly (i.e. hate speech, bomb threats, etc) citizens could step back a little from the Trumpist spigot and experience some ambivalence.

A lady, who happened to be Asian, who lived in my street with her family including young children, as she was passing by our house one day (middle class suburb of Sydney you might say)...we were renovating for sale, told mrs bambu that her daughter's new bicycle was missing, was left out overnight recently.
Asked mrs bambu if she'd seen it being ridden around,...'no' was the answer, mrs bambu said she would keep watch for it.

Saw Asian mom a little while after that, she said she was angry that the bicycle she had paid a high price for was missing and she had gone on a bicycle hunt around the area.
Sure enough, when she looked over the fence and into the backyard of a house around in the next block... there was the missing bicycle.
Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother kicked in as she entered the yard and grabbed the bicycle, an exchange of words taking place as she departed with the stolen item.

What makes the whole pet eating thing in Springfield, Ohio, disturbing, is that it is a good place like in a Norman Rockwell picture, it is hometown America like Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and like Indianapolis, Indiana; Springfield, Ohio, should be nice and safe, like Omaha, Nebraska, etc.

And for the refugees, then Mississippi is the cheapest state to live in, with nice weather, etc.

Of note, I never locked up my bicycle when I lived in Battle Mountain, Nevada, I lived in a travel trailer, and I rode a beach cruiser bicycle to work on the night shift as a cook at the Colt Casino, and I never locked up my bicycle and it was always safe, no one stole my bicycle, Battle Mountain, Nevada, is a good safe place with honest people. 

And the USA is rich, no one has to eat pets here, we can have Food Banks, Food Stamps, and Soup Kitchens, etc, to feed the poor.
