Meanwhile GOP Senator Max Miller, along with other Republicans, expressed consternation with Gaetz as AG, and Miller called him a "reckless pick."  I think there is a letter missing there.

Miller also told Axios:

Gaetz has a better shot at having dinner with Queen Elizabeth II than being confirmed by the Senate.

Gaetz reigned from the House in advance of the release of an apparently damning House ethics report. Which the Ethics Committee will now bury, because it no longer has jurisdiction over him. So one for two things will happen: the Repo Senate leadership has already signaled a willingness to recess for 10 days to allow for Trump to appoint Gaetz as a recess appointment, where he could serve for two years without Senate approval if the Repo leadership does not hold hearings to confirm him - because Repos never think they will lose power and do not recognize that their shortcuts are precedent for the next Democratic President, and also because to the extent they do recognize it they know that enough Dems respect the Constitution (or at least understand the right's willingness to lean into their own hypocrisy when Dems try the tactic) to prevent them from trying that trick. The other possibility is it is a ploy to aow Gaetz to resign with dignity, blame Dems for unfairly scuttling his appointment and ease into a lucrative slot in the right wing news bubble.

The ethics committee needs to read their findings into the Congressional Record on Friday, which they can do even if Gaetz is gone.  This will help to make the recess chicanery more palpable and maybe make Senate leadership think twice.

Hah Hah Hah Hah Hah Hah Hah Hah Hah Hah Hah Hah.

Yes a bit tongue in cheek, but hey if the House rules allow it, someone can take all afternoon to read the whole report in (footnotes included, of course, plus perhaps a slideshow) and at least prevent the HEC from a clean burial.  I know Thune (he being my senator) and he might try to apply some backroom pressure.  Its not a big secret, here in SD, that he sees himself as a foil to the coming goat rodeo.  He is an old fashioned Repub in the sense of wanting smaller government, but he does not want atrocious government.  He is saying things now to stay off Trumps ketchup radar, but I think chances are good he will find ways to check some of the excesses and idiocy.

In a nation of 330, 000,000 why is smaller government such a great goal?

Once Elon Musk takes a meat axe to the federal government we might rethink that philosophy.

Let us get busy rolling back regulations!

We are doomed. RFK and Matt Gaetz should be deported! One improvement a veteran to head the VA replacing the veteran hating alien lover under Santa Joe.

Will be scratching other areas too after a couple years, no doubt.

And Central Park will be the new city morgue.
