Last time I watched much Sox baseball, it was "Yaz."  Then, interest briefly rekindled, in the oughts, when there was "Big Papi."

"Pedey" is better than "Pedo."

Pedey is now toast. He underwent more knee surgery, it was called "joint preservation procedure".

He'll never play pro ball again.

I hope he gets to run and play with his kids.

Helluva a player when he was right.

Tonight's game at Fenway was a delight, and in a crisp 2:16, too!

It is far to early to proclaim that "Sale is back!" but at a bare minimum, he was back tonight. Lots of swings and misses. Decent velocity.

MLB and Field of Dreams

Ys @ WSox in Iowa 2020

https://www.mlb.com/news/yankees-white-sox-game-at-field-of-dream-site

Perhaps as part of the massive marketing campaign for the event, MLB and the Hall of Fame can make a simultaneous announcement just before the game, that Shoeless Joe will be inducted into the HoF.

If MLB really wants to, uh, hit a home run on this one, only let Little Leaguers to come to the game. NO adults. No scams on the online ticket agencies, etc. Just kids. And for free.

But let's see what happens.

I knew once a girl from Toronto who liked to do the same thing.

They're many Phront-runners (J-Roll got it right for many of the allegedly Phaithful Phanatics) screaming for Gabe Kapler's head in Philly. But, I think about another manager they had, and his GM failed him, too. He had no pitching. He had some young players to work with, and he had his veteran players get sideline with injuries, just like Kapler has had. He had one real starting pitcher, and the bullpen suffered injuries, and wasn't very reliable. But this 2019 team has actually outplayed those teams, despite the similarities.

Ultimately, the fans blamed him for the losing. And the GM let him go, mostly to save his own hide. Eventually that GM was let go, and things turned around and led to a championship. This time in Philly seems a little like then.

It all reminds me of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ik0cqxJElqA

That manager's name? Terry Francona, of course.

Gary Cohen is as big a homer as any announcer in baseball has ever been.
