On top of that he has no deep pockets in his organization and is from Ohio, the reddest of states with a statewide GOP political organization that swept all statewide races in 2018.

A lot of nonsense in the above post but this line stands out as particularly clueless.

The fact that Brown easily won a senate seat in a red leaning  state that is critical to the electoral college math decisively supports Whiskeypriest's post.

I particularly liked "the reddest of states."

Such bullshit.

Ohio has always been bluer in the Presidential election than in the state offices. Supposedly, Clinton opted against Brown because she thought he was key to gaining a Democratic Senate majority. I always liked Clinton and thought she would be a very effective President, but her electoral instincts.were not the most sharply honed tool in her kit.

Her electoral instincts should have put her in the White House considering all the hurdles she jumped only to get fucked over on Election Day.

When all the shit shakes out we’ll find how much influence Rudy Giuliani and the old heads at NYC FBI FO had in Comey’s ridiculous pronouncements right before the election. Factor in the Wikileaks docu dump within hours of the Access Hollywood tape, and now we learned FOX killed the story on Trump’s paying off women during the campaign.

Shit. All that and she loses by 77K over three states...
LOL. 99 electoral votes won by Obama she fucked away. But live in your own cocoon.
It is called math. I realize.it is beyond you, but start with this: she did not need to match Obama's 2012 total. 270 is all she needed. 77,000 votes is what separated her from that. Math. It does a mind good.
Ah, no.   Not even close

That Comey, the media, and the Russians (plus the weest bit of misogyny) fucked away, but live in your own denial and bullshit, as ever. She almost won despite all that.

Shit for brains.

Yes, it is exactly that close. No Comey letter, no President Trump. No Russian meddling, no President Trump.

No clue = you.

Quote
It is striking that a judge just sentenced Paul Manafort, a major target of the Mueller investigation, to only 47 months in prison. The Sentencing Guidelines justified a sentence well above fifteen years.
...
Senior U.S. District Judge T.S. Ellis was nominated to the bench in 1987 by President Ronald Reagan, who of course favored very conservative picks. Before then, he had worked since 1970 for Hunton and Williams, a very well known, quite conservative, Richmond firm.

Take a comparison of the Manafort case with another prosecution of a political figure, a black Democratic Congressman from a black district in Louisiana named William J. Jefferson. (I was a peripheral observer of that case. The FBI had raided Jefferson’s Congressional office and carried off his computer hard drive. The Judiciary Committee held a hearing on the violation of Congressional independence by that raid, and I was the principal witness (because I knew the established limits on prosecution tactics as a former House General Counsel and I was now a professor.))

Jefferson’s case was basically bribery. It was nationally famous because agents raiding his house found cash in the freezer.

Manafort may have gotten off easy with four years, but Ellis threw the book at Jefferson.  In 2009 Ellis sentenced Jefferson to 13 years, the longest sentence of any Congressman to that date.

Yes.

I followed your reasoning, but if you were right then Brown would not have been reeelected. If you were right, there would not be so many Democratic Party members elected to House seats nor so much need for gerrymandering to prevent more of them from getting elected.

In other words, your words were understood. They were just wrong, wrong, wrong. As yours so often are.

And you still refust to discuss meaningfully almost anything ever.

And you remain an amoral hypocrite.

Here's another discussion topic - one that should not be a partisan issue:

http://www.endthebacklog.org/backlog/what-rape-kit-backlog

Why can we not get these rape kits tested?

When Wayne County, Michigan, tested 10,000 of theirs, they identified more than 800 serial rapists, with an average of 10-15 per. They identified crime connections with 35 other states.

There are hundreds of thousands of rape kits that have gone untested. Isn't it time we fixed that?!

Former General, head of Homeland Security, and Trump Chief of Staff John Kelly says there is no need for a wall across the entire border with Mexico:

Quote
"we don't need a wall from sea to shining sea."

"There's no way, in my view as a (Department of Homeland Security) secretary -- and I said this in all of my hearings -- we don't need a wall from sea to shining sea, as I said," Kelly said Wednesday night during a rare public appearance since his departure from the administration in January.

"The CBP, Customs and Border Protection people, who are so familiar with the border, they can tell you, you know, if you say, 'I can get you 40 miles,' they'll tell you exactly where they want it. 'I can get you 140 miles,' they can tell you exactly where they want it. If I told them I can get you 2,000 miles, they'd say 'Eh, seems like an awful waste of money,'" he continued.

https://www.nbcnews.com/card/poll-more-democratic-voters-view-themselves-toward-middle-n980236

I would love to see what the RCP poll would have said had they had the conservatives at 0 and the liberals at 100.

That said, yeah, the current GOP membership sees itself as highly conservative - half of them in the most conservative fifth. It's just that there are also many fewer GOP members than there used to be.
