Be cool, and join together with your community.
I used to think that it was cool to be a rugged individualist, but now I realize it was all bullshit. I was a lonely slave. Then, it got worse, I was homeless out on the streets for two years. Finally, after coming out of the hospital homeless after a nervous break-down, I came to Orange County and they put me in a group home, I was living in a million dollar house with a studio executive as one of my roommates, and we ate really good food. I was surrounded by amazing people in the group homes who came out of the hospital homeless just like me, I made some of the best friends I ever had in those group homes.
And now I have the City of Anaheim as my group, and City Hall, and my local Council member. (My local Council member attended Harvard.)
And my medical team.
And I am grateful for the people who are keeping the stores and pharmacies open and stocked.
The owner of my apartment complex died of Cancer, and now a heartless corporation owns it, the manager is cool, but it was better to have management who loved everyone, and an owner who loved everyone.
I am a good Christian and I believe that we need to help each other during this crisis.
And the people who want to horde and then hide behind a gun, those people are sick, put your gun down and join together with your community. We can have seafood from the ocean, we can have oranges, we can have toilet paper from Mexico, and California has a lot of wine for everyone, the doctors can all share information and can help each other on the world wide web, we are all in this together. Do like Jesus said and love your neighbors, and we can all help each other to get through this.
You are part of your community, do not try to be a rugged individualist during this crisis. No one will starve, and people do not need to be shooting each other.
Be cool like the Fonz and join together with your community.
Salute,
Tony V.
