It's.  Not.  Flu.

Quote from: bodiddley

Cases only dropping in SD, NE and a bunch of Northeast states most of which got hit hard and belatedly took strong measures, which are working now.

I’m not sure Nebraska Governor Ricketts has reversed himself on this stupid ass policy:

Any containment success in Huskerland is in spite of,  not thanks to,  Gov.  Knobhead.   A terrible governor.

Apparently 20-somethings in Tuscaloosa Alabama are organizing Covid-19 parties to see who gets infected first.

That's the most ridiculous thing I evah hoid.

They want to die, fine, play Russian roulette with a 12 gauge.

Some young people in Alabama are throwing Covid-19 parties, a disturbing competition where people who have coronavirus attend and the first person to get infected receives a payout, local officials said.

n a briefing to the City Council, Smith expressed concern that in recent weeks there have been parties held throughout the city and surrounding Tuscaloosa County, "where students, or kids, would come in with known positive," according to a video recording of the meeting obtained by ABC affiliate station WBMA in Birmingham.

"We thought that was kind of a rumor at first," Smith told the council members. "We did some research. Not only do the doctors' offices confirm it but the state confirmed they also had the same information."

...
Just hours after Smith's briefing, the City Council unanimously passed an ordinance requiring people to wear face coverings when out in public.

If you are a fellow New Jerseyan, and you fly the flag each day like me, take note.

Three months after he ordered them to be lowered to half-staff indefinitely to honor the state’s coronavirus victims, Gov. Phil Murphy announced they will return to full-staff Friday in time for the July 4th holiday weekend.

This comes as the Garden State, once a coronavirus hotspot, has seen its outbreak slow significantly over the last two months.

Trump 2.0-2024?

https://www.politico.com/news/2020/07/02/tucker-carlson-2024-republicans-348334

Tucker Carlson’s audience is booming — and so is chatter that the popular Fox News host will parlay his TV perch into a run for president in 2024.

Republican strategists, conservative commentators, and former Trump campaign and administration officials are buzzing about Carlson as the next-generation leader of Donald Trump’s movement — with many believing he would be an immediate frontrunner in a Republican primary.

What they couldn't talk Rush into hanging around for four more years?

I may puke.

Lots of good data in here:

The statue questions are particularly interesting to me.

And at least with this poll, Joe is catching up to Don on the economy questions.

This is scary.  He is as racist as Trump is, but less easy to ridicule and has no record to attack him on.
He could definitely ride the nationalist wave to the white house in 2024.

https://www.cnn.com/2020/07/02/health/coronavirus-hospitalizations-rates-rise/index.html

Quote
In the last three weeks, I have seen more admissions and sicker patients than on the previous 10 weeks," says Dr. Joseph Varon, the chief medical officer at United Memorial Medical Center. "It's been an exponential increase on the severity of illness and on the number of cases that we admit."

In other hospitals across America, similar scenes of crisis.

At least 12 states are seeing a rise in daily hospitalizations, the director of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said this week.

The trend is worrying: A sharp increase in patients can once again overwhelm hospitals, putting critical resources including staffing, beds and ventilators in short supply.
