.....The economy is already teetering,

the economy is “ teetering” ?
So much for your credibility.

According to the Friday report of the Bureau of Labor Statistics:

The economy created 1.4 million jobs in August, the fourth-best month since the government began reporting the data in 1939. (2.5 times better than any one month under the Obama-Biden administration)

The unemployment rate dropped to 8.4%, a 6.3 point drop from April’s 14.7% rate and the first time unemployment has been below 10% since April.the unemployment rate is now basically where it was at the beginning of 2012)

The number of people employed increased by 3.75 million to 147 million, back to where it was in October of 2014.
It was the third largest monthly increase in the number of people employed since 1949 when the government began reporting the data. June and May had the first and second-largest increases.

The 1.8 point decline in the unemployment rate since July included  a 2 point drop for women, 1.6 for Blacks, 2.4 for Hispanics, and 1.3 For Asians

The Census Bureau says applications for new businesses seeking to hire workers have surged this year to their highest point since 2007.

The National Association of Realtors (NAR) reported sales of previously-owned homes surged 24.7% in July from June – the highest rate since 2006 and the strongest monthly gain ever recorded, going back to 1968.

In short these numbers prove the unnecessary lockdown by the states was an economic mistake and  our recovery is looking more like a “ V” every day.

In short these numbers prove the unnecessary lockdown by the states was an economic mistake and  our recovery is looking more like a “ V” every day.

Those numbers of course prove nothing of the sort.
Let's say that without the semi-lockdowns the death toll and infection rate would have been perhaps triple.  That in itself likely would have shut down the economy as people would be too afraid to do many jobs and go out and buy things.  You and most righties don't seem to understand that without gov't organized precautions, the virus would have been much more widespread and people would opt voluntarily to isolate (self-lockdown).  The problem with the lockdowns is that they came too late, involved half measures, were poorly implemented and not stringent enough to remove the virus, and patchwork, state-by-state and even county by county in many states.  The lockdowns were too little , not too much.  Reopenings were too soon and haphazard.

The economy is still fragile.  There are still many people out of work and businesses closed.  Gee, unemployment is back to where it was early in the Bush Depression.  Good news!  All credible economists say it will take years to dig out of this and get the economy back to normal.  Mainly because Trump was unwilling to handle a respiratory virus or wear a mask.  Pathetic.

China: 2 month lockdown; 2 month gradual reopening.  Last 3 months of normalcy (without allowing crowds still).  I haven't worn a mask in 2 months, except if I stop at the hospital where it is mandatory.

Quite the opposite.

They prove that it was not an economic mistake.

But you are devoid of logic or reason, so... what else is new?

If Unions don't fight to ensure that the uber-class knows from whom their millions come from, who will?

They should have been fighting and threatening to strike or whatever the past 3 years ...

I've seen the Dems blow enough winnable presidential elections to be easily worried.

Well maybe the party leaders need to get you on speed dial, given your immense political acumen.

Permanent job loss on the trumpian scale, do to gross avarice, negligence, callousness, and incompetence.

Permanent job loss is a huge feature of the republican economy dwarfing what ever good news right wing lying hacks can drum up by goosing numbers and saddling us with useless mountains of debt.

More virus = less economic activity
Less virus = more economic activity

In short these numbers prove the unnecessary lockdown by the states was an economic mistake and  our recovery is looking more like a “ V” every day.

More like a “K”

The wealthy make out while the least of these get boned.

Long gone is the notion that we’ll have a V-Shaped Recovery—a deep economic decline followed quickly by sharp rebound. Instead, what we’re looking at is a recovery that will be vigorous for some sectors while others remain in freefall.

The K-shaped recovery is also evident in employment numbers. The financial services sector, for example, has already recovered 94% of its pre-pandemic employment. Leisure and entertainment, on the other hand, has only brought back 74% of the workforce. So, while many of us are lucky to mainly be Zoom-fatigued or otherwise harried by life in a pandemic, for millions of others, the economic impact of COVID is existential. The layoffs have come hardest and fastest for those least able to survive prolonged joblessness, creating a cascade of setbacks from which it will be very hard to recover.

As a business community and a nation, we cannot allow millions of workers and broad swaths of our economy to be left behind in the COVID recovery.

Our lawmakers deserve a lot of credit for working quickly and cooperatively, on a bipartisan basis, to provide federal relief to employers and workers in the early days of pandemic. Their historic efforts helped many businesses and families stay afloat and prevented the economic fallout from being even deeper.

Their work is not done. The Chamber has called on Congress to pass additional targeted and temporary measures to help those on the wrong side of the recovery.

I love it when the US Chamber comes out sounding largely rational (for a change).

Duh!
With the service industry  still partially locked down with restaurants and bars operating  at 50 per cent, air travel severely affected, tourism next to nothing all representing tons of jobs that can’t be done from home this is hardly a shock.

Too bad the politicians didn’t consider that before locking down so severely.

Nevertheless the economy has added 10.5 million private jobs in four months, about half as many as were lost  by the government -ordered lock-downs. The recovery after the 2008-2009 recession took three years to make that much progress, and the jobless rate was still 8.1% in August 2012.
As the Wall Street Journal reported yesterday:

Labor force participation for August rose 3 percentage points to 61.7%, up 1.5 points from its April low. This is still 1.7 percentage points below its February peak, but the increase means that hundreds of thousands of Americans are continuing to return to the workforce. By contrast, labor force participation declined in the five years after the 2009 recession.

Of course Obama and Biden were leading the country then. As for Biden on the 2020 Campaign Trail he says he would not hesitate to lock down again if “ Science” called for it.
Yep, that’s what he says.

Red is still hoping to get a border wall contract for his company. He thinks there is enough money left in that scam that he will be able to afford a significant other like one of trumps kids. When you are that ugly, getting someone to fake it for you can get expensive.
