"I didnt get any sense that (Trump) was distorting anything.  I didnt really see any discrepancies between what he told us - and what we told him - and what he ultimately came out publically and said"

- Doctor Anthony Fauci

Key word: ULTIMATELY.

And... read what Dr. Fauci said to Woodward and see if you are just as comfortable.

But whatever, Kid. You are a duplicitous poster who gives no fucks for anybody not in your circle.

I don't know what kiidcarter8 thinks the Fauci quote means.  Trump admitted on the tape that he was downplaying the virus.  He said it.

And I don't need Fauci to now compare what he said to Woodward to his public statements to find the lie.  Five times deadlier than the flu, but Trump said "99 percent of the cases are harmless."  Young people are getting sick, but he tells us "they are practically immune."  "Those 15 cases are going down to zero..."

Lies.

The Republican Party is Not Worth Saving

I was a Republican for most of my adult life. I came of political age in 1980, and although I grew up in a working-class Democratic stronghold in Massachusetts, I found a home in Ronald Reagan’s GOP. Back then, the Republicans were a confident “party of ideas” (a compliment bestowed on them by one of their foes, Democratic Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan of New York), optimistic boosters of the American dream at home, and fierce opponents of the Soviet Union overseas. While the Democrats were the party of recrimination and retreat, the Republicans were the party of the future.

I understand the attachment to that GOP, even among those who have sworn to defeat Donald Trump, but the time for sentimentality is over. That party is long gone. Today the Republicans are the party of “American carnage” and Russian collusion, of scams, plots, and weapons-grade contempt for the rule of law. The only decent, sensible, and conservative position is to vote against this Republican Party at every level, and bring the sad final days of a once-great political institution to an end. Then build the party back up again—from scratch.

I’m not advocating for voting against the GOP merely to punish Republicans for Trump’s existence in their party. Rather, conservatives must finally accept that at this point Trump and the Republican Party are indistinguishable. Trump and his circle have gutted the old GOP and stuffed its empty husk with the Trump family’s paranoia and corruption.

The US system of government prevents such idiocy. Its branches are co-equal.  Nancy Pelosi, third in line to the Presidency, was privy to the same info as Trump especially through daily briefings, the reports from the CDC, the WHO,news reports, etc.

False.  The President receives intel briefings, daily, that are not available to Congress.  Congress needs to request briefings on certain subjects to receive them, like for example when Pelosi needed to ask for a briefing on the Russian Bounties.

Intelligence doesn't even tell the President everything.  When Trump's people tell them specifically not to include info on Russian Interference in our elections, you think Congress gets the info that the "president" doesn't?  Of course not.

But maybe you and kiidcarter8 are right, and literally everyone in Federal and Local governments had all the info on COVID that Trump had in Jan/Feb and every one of them made the same decision to do nothing.

Yeah, that sounds plausible.

It would be a very simple defense to construct for Trump to say "I didn't want to panic anyone, but I was giving the Governors all the information they needed to act."  There would be records, letters, heck, it would be simple as pie for Trump to trot out a Republican Governor who would be all-too-happy to say that no, Woodward was not more informed on the virus than he was in February.

Early days, maybe Trump will do that.  I won't hold my breath.

Mike Pence slated to attend a fundraiser hosted by QAnon supporters

ice President Mike Pence will attend a fundraiser in Montana next week hosted by a couple who have posted far-right QAnon conspiracy theory memes and retweeted conspiracy posts, according to a new Associated Press report.

Pence and other powerful Republicans including Kimberly Guilfoyle, GOP chairwoman Ronna McDaniel, and RNC finance chairman Todd Ricketts, are slated to head to the fundraiser hosted by Michael and Caryn Borland, a couple who have donated $220,000 to Trump’s re-election.

After reviewing the couple’s social media profiles, AP found that Michael shared several bold QAnon logos on his Facebook page, as well as the conspiracy’s slogan: “Where We Go One We Go All.”

On Twitter, Caryn had retweeted or engaged with QAnon conspiracy tweets, while on June 25 Michael shared a post that called Black Lives Matter protesters “terrorists,” and threatened to shoot protesters himself.

QAnon conspiracies — none of which are based on evidence — involve unfounded claims Trump is on a secret mission to dismantle a network of child abusers, involving satanic pedophiles, cannibals, Hollywood stars, "deep state" agents, and top Democrats.

QAnon’s conspiracy theory is a rebranded version of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion.

So, there you go, kid. Your Veep consorts with neo-Nazis.

Fuck them and fuck you for supporting them.

Trump tapes are “a punch in the stomach,” says woman who lost father to Covid-19
From CNN's Adrienne Vogt

Kristin Urquiza, whose father died from the coronavirus, says President Trump’s remarks to journalist Bob Woodward on the virus are “simply inexcusable.”

“It is a punch in the stomach for me and every single person who has either contracted the virus or has died from the virus. It is clear that the President lied to the American public. It's undeniable,” Urquiza said on CNN’s “New Day.”
Trump told Woodward that he knew Covid-19 was deadly but “wanted to always play it down” to avoid creating “a panic.”

“My father didn't panic. Instead, he died,” Urquiza said. “That is what happened to tens of thousands of people across the United States, because of his decision, and because of that, I think he needs to resign.”

Urquiza said her dad would’ve been shocked to hear Trump’s comments.

“On his death bed, he told me that he felt betrayed by the President, and this is just the nail in his coffin,” she said.

There are "technical limitations" to getting more Covid-19 tests, Giroir says

Quote
Adm. Brett Giroir, assistant secretary for health at the US Department of Health and Human Services, told CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta on Thursday that “there are technical limitations” to getting more testing in the United States.

“It takes time, as the research community knows,” Giroir said during a Research! America forum. “Why haven't we cured all of cancer yet? Well, it takes time.”
Giroir said “there's been no limitations on money, research, motivation.”

“We are not in a situation now where we have a highly accurate home test. We're getting close. We really are getting close,” he said.

“Don't expect it in the next month or two. Yes, a miracle could happen. There could be an ‘aha moment’ … it's just that we don't have it today,” Giroir said.

“There’s no barriers. It’s just the technology and the development,” he explained.

He said, every day, “I look at the data, I call companies, I know what every manufacturer is doing. I think we have great situational awareness. And when there is an opportunity to invest, we've done it.”

“There’s been no barrier to do that,” he added.

It is INSULTING to the dead themselves to say such a thing

You weren't killed by this horrible virus at all.  Your suffering is not in any way courageous - as one in number with your fellow US citizens hat got dealt a bad hand. You will not be remembered so.

Just like the distortion of Blake as a brave man, you COVID-19 afflicted who lost life are distorted as simple victims, not patriots whatsoever.

And you don't give a fuck about whether something is an insult to people you don't know unless it advances an argument in your game.

TRUMP caused those deaths, Kid.

He caused them by NOT WARNING AMERICA. He caused them by LYING. He caused them by HIDING THE TRUTH, intentionally.

He caused them by NOT WEARING A FUCKING MASK.

COVID deaths in Canada yesterday: 2
COVID deaths in the US yesterday: 1,044

You don't see a lack of leadership and a total non-response by the Federal Government run by one Donald Trump to be the primary driver of the above difference, you are a fucking Trump Cultist.

The US Treasury Dept. has punished a Giuliani ally for being a spy and agent for Russia in their efforts to impact the 2020 presidential election.

Republicans in the US Senate, however, are only too happy to continue inquiries based primarily on information given to them by this now known agent for Russia, because they are trying to reelect Donald Trump because they like Tax Cuts.

Either Trump was telling US Governors the same thing he was telling Woodward in February in which case they are all equally culpable for taking little to no actions, or Trump was keeping them in the dark about what the Federal Government knew about the COVID threat in addition to lying to the American public about it.

Yes.  Governors knew the flu was airborn and could be much deadlier than the common flu.  Trump didn't have information that only he could obtain.
No. He didn’t.
The US system of government prevents such idiocy. Its branches are co-equal.  Nancy Pelosi, third in line to the Presidency, was privy to the same info as Trump especially through daily briefings, the reports from the CDC, the WHO,news reports, etc.
Yet Pelosi, through her presence in Chinatown in late February, was playing down a serious threat.  So was Dr. Fauci. The 50 states all have health departments and all can make decisions without approval from Washington.  And by the first weekend of March many restrictions were underway that led to lockdowns.

1) Learn to use this message board. Your sloppiness misrepresents people worse than anything I have ever done here.

2) You accuse ME of being naive? When the president directs the intelligence agencies to stop delivering briefings on certain topics because it makes him look bad or it disagrees with his personal opinion, then no, nobody gets the info available to him. When he tells them to no longer give briefings to Congressional Intelligence Committees on election security, then no, they don't get the info.

But you, too, are a dishonest poster without a shred of compassion for those outside your circle, as you have so admirably demonstrated repeatedly.
I think you are losing it.  You don’t even know how our system of government works.
Trump publicly downplayed the serious of the virus to forestall panic. So did Pelosi, who knew just as much as Trump did.
So did Fauci who knew more that both Trump and Pelosi knew
Obama did the same thing over the Swine flu.
