https://www.cnn.com/2018/11/05/us/angry-white-man-john-blake/index.html

It's about projection and fear of 'other' - but as previously noted, the biggest risk at any given moment is angry white men.

Risk re what:  mass murder?

Why are you discussing this?

Unless you mean the Morning Joe types, I don't see much anger out there among those that aren't criminally insane.  And even Joe's group can be reasonable.  Again - not much "risk" there.

Mass murder.

Terrorism inside the United States.

Those were what I had in mind, especially the second, but toss pedophilia and road rage onto the pile, as well.
******

Not much risk there?

How fortunate for you that you are not in the population that receives racist and/or antisemitic and/or misogynistic attacks.

Temple in my town was firebombed.

Student was caught in time threatening to blow up the school.

No area of the nation is immune.

Rove says O'Rourke could have beaten Cruz had he run a different campaign.

Ingraham credits TRUMP for Cruz's win.

Lot of squeakers.   But looks like Kobach defeated in Kansas,  a nice blow against corrupt politics in grainbelt.  Midwest does seem to be getting a blue ripple in some fairly red states - 0kla, KS,  Iowa, Minnesota.

Beto even in a close tough loss in a very Red Texas, looks like a winner.

IMO the Dems retaking the House was the real goal if you gave a shit about our democracy and checks and balances and decency.

seems US is becoming more aligned urban/suburban w/Dems, rural/exurbia w/Repubs.

Well this has been a mostly satisfying evening.

No matter how you slice it the GOP legislative agenda is dead.

My wrap up of tonight is this. Nancy Pelosi for Speaker of the House.

The Democrats have seized control of the US House of Representatives and of course there will be a struggle for leadership with some folks calling for newer, younger leadership. That would be a mistake. Nancy Pelosi is a General Leia.

She is the most powerful woman in US political history and the most successful. Pelosi delivered landmark legislation for economic stimulus, financial overhaul and healthcare. Yeah, the ACA aka ObamaCare aka “Death panels” which conventional wisdom declared to be such a loser most Democrats ran away from it (and President Obama) resulting in most of them getting their asses kicked.

Yet here we are eight years later and what were the smart kids running on? Healthcare. Who knew?

We now have one branch of government back in control of people not under the sway of the crazy, racist bastard occupying the White House. But those who are under the sway of this crazy, racist bastard still run the other branches of government.

Democrats haven’t been the majority in the House for eight years and will now be engaged in some of the most epic political battles we’ve ever seen. Literally trying to save the freaking nation! A sports analogy: It’s the playoffs… do you start a rookie who hasn’t played a minute in the league or do you go with your future hall of famer?

Nancy Pelosi, House Speaker redux.

Heard something like 59% women voted Dem.  (39% men)   Thank you,  women!

Great relief to hear House flipped.   Time to get to work.   And lots of freshmen,  full of enthusiasm and creativity.  I feel a tremor of hope.

More good news:

https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2018/11/6/1810593/-N-Carolina-elections-are-a-huge-win-for-democracy-paving-the-way-to-strike-down-GOP-gerrymandering?utm_campaign=trending

And the governors' races will change how redistricting is handled after the next census in a bunch of states that might have gone the other way, before. Not as big a win as I would have liked.

And Wisconsin is not yet set, IMO, for all that I am cautiously hopeful.

---Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released this statement on President Trump’s failed immigration policies and fearmongering rhetoric:

“The GOP is desperate to change the conversation from their assault on Americans’ health care to the baseless fear of some families 1,000 miles away from the border.  Despite Republicans’ fearmongering, this group of families may not even make it to the U.S. border, and those migrating for economic reasons will not qualify for asylum.---

Finally has grown wise enough to tone down the lost cause open borders agenda? Just stick to health care and improved social programs.

https://blog.americananthro.org/2018/11/05/five-things-you-should-know-about-the-migrant-caravan/

Trump tried to do something...build a wall to stop people just walking into America.
He's been rejected by voters...said voters not wanting walls and orderly legal immigration.

You can lead a horse to water......

If I were him I'd go play golf for the next two years and leave the voters to their own devices.
Why would you bother.

From your fingers to Trump's eyes, Bambi. And may he take Mike Pence with him.

Your complete failure to understand our government continues to make it impossible for you to accurately assess what has happened.

Mr. Trump controlled both the House and the Senate. If the GOP had wanted that wall built, they could have pushed it through, the same way they pushed through other odious measures. It was his party that did not make it happen.

p.s. Go look up the subjunctive, so you can learn to speak your native tongue properly.

Go look up the subjunctive, so you can learn to speak your native tongue properly.

He speaks perfect convict.

House & Governorships looking good. The Senate could have been better and could have been worse.

Depending on how Florida handles the renfranchisement of a million or so of its citizens, and how much a factor Democrats being in total control of voting rolls and voting booths in Harris county (Houston remembers), Texas and Florida should be even more gettable next cycle.

CA keeps its gas tax & Nevada joins the West Coast.

Also the House can hire Mueller to continue his work should something unfortunate happen to his current assignment.

Dems should go Bush 2000 in Georgia and Florida, if only to uncover more of the nature of this and prior cycles’ dirty GOP tricks.
