Hallelujah!

I heard there was a secret chord that David played and it pleased the Lord, but you don’t really care for music, do you?

Will you get a "huh?" or a "LOL" to that, when he doesn't understand your post?

Americans revive spirit of first Thanksgiving by carrying disease to new areas

Apt headline in WaPo.

Hoping to help, many around the nation are ramping up trainings for cross-the-aisle conversations, including a group called Braver Angels, which runs "Red-Blue workshops" that teach skills for civil discourse and encourage participants to find common ground.

"It's a relationship building process. It's a humanizing process" says Braver Angels Partnerships Specialist Julie Boler. "When you have the experience yourself of feeling a little opening, a little less frantic rejection, then you've learned at least it is possible for some of that softening to happen."

Enrollment has spiked this fall, says Boler, but she conceded, it may be a self-selecting crowd that's open to dialogue. There are plenty who not only don't aspire to healing and unity, they see it as capitulation.

New York psychiatrist Darwin Buschman, 64, is among those for whom bridging the gap with die-hard Trump supporters, is just a bridge too far.

"This is not an alternate viewpoint. This is racism, hate, lying, demagoguery, sociopathy, what else can I say," he fumed. "[They are] bad people. I will not sit at a table with them. I will not have a conversation with them."

Nor would Elizabeth Murphy, 36, who works in social services in Georgia. She likens reaching out to Trump supporters to taking back an abusive husband....

You're sounding like Jenna Ellis

Here we go.

I drop an old bit on the idea Republicans sell shit by beating white people over the head with a manufactured image of black people played on their TVs.

Well, now we know why you got a B.

Banks,

Throwing insults and then closing with Happy Thanksgiving is rather unbecoming. Not a good look if you’re seeking your usual position atop some mythical moral high ground.

Knicks you confused honest criticism of your conclusion as I thought the conclusion was not supported by what you presented in the abstract, with animus on my part.

There was no animus. I disagreed with you.

But I did mock you with the Jenna comp as I thought it fitting and current.

I can be critical of an opinion and still wish you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving.

So have a Happy Thanksgiving.

And save some room for the pies.

If you disagree with Larry, it's because you don't understand his genius. He's very sensitive about any kind of criticism, particularly that which he feels impinges on his personal view of his own intellect.

That said, I doubt we will ever get the details of his "study".

Not that I have specific evidence as it relates to me as Red has ignored my posts since pre-Trump, but anecedotally I've observed with Red you get a "huh" or LOL" when he does understand your post and understands that he has lost the debate. But rather than admit to a lost debating point he instead mocks.

I don't think Biden needs to extend olive branches all over the place. He's doing fine the way he is just moving ahead as though he has a mandate from the nation to do his thing, which he does. He'll be the first guy since Lyndon Johnson who really understands the backchannels and machinations of Congress, and that is no small thing to consider.

Have a little faith. But of course, the left wing of the party never has faith in anyone but themselves, and never can consider a POV that differs from their own. Best they mature, IMO.

Meanwhile, there are still plenty of assholes on the right, and they will be trying to use their activist judges to bring into reality a dystopian world, where men rule and women follow, and LBGTQ goes back into the broom closet.

From my Bloomberg email, today: Donald Trump has given Joe Biden much-needed access to major U.S. government departments, including top-secret briefings. But he’s still laying landmines for the incoming president, and he has another two months to do so.

Trump’s daily schedule is often pretty bare. His legal challenges to his election loss are dwindling. He is spending time as usual at his golf course.

Even so, a series of administration actions suggest he’s trying to bake policies in before Biden formally takes over in January, making it harder for his successor to undo them.

That’s especially true in foreign policy, where Biden is set to change tack on a number of issues.

In recent weeks the U.S. has sanctioned Russian and Chinese companies for dealing with Iran, plus more Iranian officials, North Korean companies and others.

Trump officials plan further visits to Taiwan — a move sure to irk China. The White House is warning that more as-yet unspecified action against China is possible, after months of tit-for-tat penalties over trade, Xinjiang and Hong Kong.

The biggest question remains Iran, as Biden may re-engage Tehran after Trump withdrew from the 2015 nuclear deal. Trump worked to build an alliance against Iran in the Middle East, something he worries Biden might unpick.

There are reports Israel told its military to prepare for a possible U.S. strike on Iran, though the potential for action is remote (it could struggle to gain support from the Pentagon, would make Saudi Arabia worry about being hit in retaliation, and Europe would be furious).

Yet there is a palpable sense of unease about Trump, and what a man with his tendency for impulsiveness might attempt before he leaves. — Rosalind Mathieson

The thing about an asshole like Trump is that you never make him feel like the asshole he really is.

Incoming Colorado Congresswoman Lauren Boebert, an anti-big government Republican who previously defied local shutdown orders, said she's finding a creative way to bypass Colorado's Thanksgiving gathering restrictions by having a "funeral" for a dead turkey.
In Colorado, Thanksgiving is limited to 10 people, but funerals are limited to 30.So I'm going to have a peaceful funeral for a turkey and have about 30 people at my house, she said.
