In July 2019 Nike announced a special Fourth of July edition of their Air Max 1 Quick Strike sneaker that featured the thirteen-star Betsy Ross flag. The company withdrew the sneaker after their spokesman Colin Kaepernick raised concerns that the symbol represented an era of black enslavement.[109] In response Limbaugh's radio program introduced a t-shirt imprinted "Stand up for Betsy Ross" with sale proceeds to benefit the Tunnel to Towers Foundation. As of December 2019 the sales have earned over $5M USD for the foundation.[110]

So, who do we like in the game tonight?

Is Biden's flash card holder attending?

There was never much doubt that President Trump would make boasts about the economy central to his re-election campaign; that is his style, after all. What is becoming more clear is that the data on the economy are giving him something genuinely worth boasting about.

That was especially evident in the first employment numbers of 2020, released Friday morning. It was about as good a jobs report as an incumbent president could hope for nine months before Election Day — and not just in obvious ways.

The big headline out of the latest numbers was that employers added 225,000 jobs in January, comfortably more than analysts had expected. That alone suggests that economic growth is steady at a minimum, and maybe accelerating as the year begins.

The seemingly bad news in the report — the unemployment rate ticking up to 3.6 percent from 3.5 percent — was actually driven by positive underlying trends. The share of adults either working or looking for work rose to 63.4 percent, its highest level since mid-2013. And the share of adults between ages 25 and 54 who were employed reached 80.6 percent, its highest level since mid-2001.

But you just keep pretending that bigotry is what this country is about, Kid. Don't let morality stand in your way. Rush never did! Neither does Trump.

Farm bankruptcies.

44,000,000 making ~$18k per year.

Truckers out of work all over the country.

I'm glad for employment. It's not all there is in the economy.

McSally lies to her constituents. Maybe to herself, as well. She deserves to lose.

Quote
Thank you for contacting me regarding the impeachment of President Donald Trump.

Our Founding Fathers were clear that impeachment and conviction of a president is an extreme action of last resort, to be used for only the gravest offenses. By requiring a two-thirds vote in the Senate, the framers warned against impeachment as a political weapon by an oppositional party. Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi used to agree.

I voted against convicting President Trump of the two articles of impeachment. I opposed removing the president from office and the 2020 ballot as this outcome would have been deeply disruptive to the functioning of our government, further divided our nation, and would prevent the American people from deciding who their president should be at the ballot box. The American people collectively are better fit to judge Donald Trump's presidency as a whole than the partisan politicians in Washington who brought forth this impeachment.

This presidential impeachment is historic for dangerous reasons. It is the first partisan House impeachment with bipartisan opposition. It is the first to deny procedural fairness protections to the president during the House inquiry. It was done in a mere 48 days with no serious attempt to fully resolve all separation of powers issues. This is a reckless precedent in its entirety, especially the House's attempt to force the Senate to do the work it should have completed before articles were ever sent over. This rushed, incomplete, and unfair process should never be repeated by either party in the future.

The President is not perfect, and the way he evidently attempted to address his legitimate concerns about corruption involving the Bidens was inappropriate. Even if all the House Democrats allege is accurate, even if John Bolton supports their allegations in his book, even if other negative information comes out in the future, this does not rise to anywhere near the level of throwing the president out of office or off the ballot for the first time in American history. Beyond that, House Democrats failure to exhaust all available avenues to obtain witnesses and records, by definition, invalidated their frivolous charge of obstruction of Congress. This entire matter, ultimately, should have been handled via the normal oversight processes available to Congress with subpoena disputes resolved in the courts. You can't argue, as Nancy Pelosi did, that the president is an urgent danger to national security and then wait for over a month before sending an incomplete work product to the Senate. Her actions were transparently political and not at all in line with the grave nature of our impeachment process.

After 13 witnesses, over 28,000 pages of evidence, and nine days of presentations, the Senate did its constitutional duty to try this impeachment. The Democrats simply failed to convince the Senate—or the American people—that the president should be removed from office. It is only fair that the American people decide who their president should be. It’s time for the Senate to resume its focus on issues that matter to real people, like the cost of prescription drugs, access to affordable health care, and taking care of our veterans.

As the 116th Congress addresses the many challenges facing our nation, I hope you will continue to share your thoughts and concerns. To keep up with my work in Congress, you can follow me on Twitter and Facebook, or visit my website at mcsally.senate.gov where you can sign up to receive my e-newsletter. Again, thank you for sharing your concerns. Please continue contacting my office regarding issues that you feel are important to you and Arizona.

Sincerely,

Martha McSally
U.S. Senator

I think Democrats who are savvy will realize that poor-mouthing the economy will not be a viable strategy for 2020, and will focus on other issues,  such as  universal healthcare,  education,  green initiatives,  affordable housing, walkable cities,  honesty and transparency of elected officials,  campaign finance reform,  universal access to voting stations,  preservation of wilderness and heritage sites,  etc.   There are lots of positive ideas to talk about.

Patriotism can mean nurturing the welfare and health and environment of every citizen.   It can mean not trashing every idea that threatens status quo oligarchy,  and not freaking out at the idea of collective endeavors that aren't solely about profit.

Not for good charities, no,  but rather for all the hateful and bigoted spew you've apparently missed the last few decades.   Josh's list of Rush quotes a few pages back is a useful sample.   You declare your outrage regularly for "haters" but seem to completely ignore Limbaugh bile and spleen,  lies,  slander,  and the general way he's lowered discourse.   Makes sense,  I guess,  since you've also done that with Fearless Leader.

Trump, Kid, and Ward tried to paint the belief that Trump should be gone as a partisan thing, then as a "never-Trump" thing, but it has not been either of those. People who follow their conscience are opposed to what Trump has done and is doing.
