Yes.  And the last sentence is what some famous philosopher has referred to as The Hitler Pets a Dog argument.  Basically, the HPADA posits that, if you have seen a horrible person do something nice, that must mean they deserve respect and possibly a revisionist account of all the horrible things they've done.  It's generally considered a fallacy.
