We have good leadership here in Anaheim, my Council representative attended Harvard.

The number of less than stalwart leaders who have come from the hallowed halls of Hahvahd is legion, Tony.

Don't mistake intelligent for moral.

Then don't mistake Harvard student for either intelligent or moral, though intelligent gives you better odds.

According to conservative media, some top Republicans believed a stipulation in the House bill requiring the government to reimburse private laboratories doing coronavirus testing could effectively overturn the Hyde Amendment by establishing a government funding stream not subject to the restrictions. In response, anti-choice lawmakers insisted on including language in the legislation that would reaffirm the principles of the amendment.

So... it turns out that it was not the Dems pulling a fast one, but the GOP being paranoid.

So, they held up the bill and pointed their fingers at the Dems.

Trump goes on TV to tell the nation and the world he has no idea what is going on in his administration and that he takes no responsibility for it.

Not that anybody should have expected him to take any responsibility for it.

I'm even willing to grant that he likely believes that. His level of self-deception is even higher than Ward's and Kid's.

He absolutely believes everything he says because he has a complex. Anyone who believes anything he says is an asshole.

So Trump just basically lied his ass off, dissed a black woman who asked a fair question, lied some more, got praised by Mike Pence, invented a Google coronavirus app that doesn’t exist, and shook everybody’s hand in the midst of a pandemic.

The new normal.

Oops

Oh that Nancy

"Well, we just don't think they're giving enough. We don't think the Democrats are giving enough," the President said.
"We're negotiating. We thought we had something, but all of a sudden they didn't agree to certain things that they agreed to. We could have something but we don't think they're giving enough. They're not doing what's right for the country.

Kid!

He didn't say anything!

He bitched about her, but without any details.

I already posted what they wanted. That was the big change.

Also:
Quote
Adding to the confusion, Mnuchin had said on Fox Business’s “Lou Dobbs Tonight” Friday night that he has reached an agreement with Pelosi, while GOP lawmakers — and even the No. 2 House Democrat, Rep. Steny Hoyer — had said talks are still ongoing and a deal had not yet been reached.

“We have an agreement that reflects what the president talked about in his speech the other night,” Mnuchin said on Fox Business, minutes after House Republicans said talk of a deal was premature. The Treasury secretary had huddled with Trump just minutes before — a meeting that delayed his appearance on the network for so long that Mnuchin ran out of time to speak before the program ended.

At the same time in the Capitol, Hoyer told reporters that Democrats thought they had a deal but are “at the same situation” with negotiations, and could not commit to holding a vote on the legislation Friday night.

“I can’t say that,” Hoyer said, when asked if there would be a vote. “It’s possible there will be a vote tonight.”

From Politico.

And as I said, a few days.

Continuing his "acting presidential". Trump declares National Day of Prayer Sunday.

"We are a Country that, throughout our history, has looked to God for protection and strength in times like these.  No matter where you may be, I encourage you to turn towards prayer in an act of faith. Together, we will easily PREVAIL!"

"In America we celebrate faith. We cherish religion.  We lift our voices in prayer and we raise our sights to the glory of God."

The Hyde Amendment talk was pure democrat politics to offset Trump’s demand for a payroll tax cut. That’s all it was.

Fox News is told the major objection to the bill from House Republicans has been extraneous matters House Democrats kept trying to include in the coronavirus package.

The revisions to the Democratic bill happened after the GOP flagged “major” concerns about the sick leave legislation on Thursday

As I had previously said

Glad they axed what needed to be axed

In America, some of us cherish religion.

But then again, Kid, this is a man who says he has never felt the need to ask God for forgiveness.

So holy.

Again, no data. No specifics. Vagueness rules. And you keep buying it.

Nope.

The Dems didn't raise the issue of the Hyde Amendment. The GOP decided it was somehow threatened.

It turns out also that the president wanted tax cuts. He got tax credits for the companies that help out their employees, but not the tax cut that nobody but him wants.

The tax cut had bipartisan support. That’s why Nancy had to find a way to kill it.
