"We should all be following developments in hydroxychloroquine use with interest and measured hope. Why wouldn't we be? Well, here's why: Donald Trump is for it," Carlson said. "Several days ago, the president expressed confidence in hydroxychloroquine as a treatment for the epidemic. That was it for the media. If Trump is for it, they're against it, even if it might save American lives."

More bullshit.

I just posted about one of the first blind studies' results.

We are following it. We want it to work and work well. We want the vaccine to be a year, not 18 months or more. We want the use of recovered victims' blood to be effective.

Tucker Carlson is mistaking us for himself and his crew who worked explicitly to make Obama fail and wanted it to happen that way.

Kind of the same way you do, Kid, and Ward. You keep assuming that what motivates you would motivate us and it just doesn't.

But wanting it to work, watching the impact, does not make us believe in it, as well.

It would be interesting to see the US gender breakdown, especially by age.  The US is one of the few countries where male and female smoking rates are close to equal.  Though I assume that is true at younger age groups and there's a fairly significant gender gap for older Americans.  So the gender and age breakdowns could help determine how much smoking is a factor in serious complications and death from covid-19.  It stands to reason that smoke-damaged lungs fare worse with pneumonia.

So why isn't the US providing useful data?
If China were withholding such, people would criticize and have all sorts of sinister explanations.

Useful how?

By allowing better medical care and advice.

By better preparing our medical teams for what they will be needing more of.

By informing public service announcements.

Do you believe in studies done with rhesus monkeys?

SARS virus injected, followed by remdesivir in one group, remdesivir followed by the virus in the second - and a third given just the virus

You can imagine the results.

Employment numbers come in in a bit. We’ll get another glimpse at how the slow and lazy approach to federal management is starting to effect the economy.

That's nice.

Doctors disagree with you.

I don't know what Dr. Oz thinks.

I'd rather have epidemiologist and medical professionals decide that than you.

You can imagine the results.

I don't believe in imaginary studies, no, Kid.

And I can only imagine the results, because you chose not to share any links.

The only such studies I am familiar with that have been completed involved MERS, not COVID-19. They also worked with mice.
https://www.sciencenews.org/article/coronavirus-covid19-repurposed-treatments-drugs has info for you - from a couple weeks ago.

Asshole.

This was not yet peer reviewed:
https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.02.23.20026864v2

Therefore, it should not be used clinically. IOW, if it had been, it would have advised physicians. The topic? Gender differences in patients with COVID-19: Focus on severity and mortality
