Evolution of the huckster Christian death cult who have driven us into this morass. Massive turnout in elections is the proscribed and approved cure.

And (almost) everybody is getting the cash gifted, Kid, same as the small businesses that take out the "forgiveable" loan that they won't have to pay back and won't have to pay income tax on, if they use it appropriately.

Quite a few are losing income

Like I said - a big deal was made about April 1 mortgages being due - how would the average American worker living hand to mouth make that payment?  Unemployment benefits cover only so much.

In addition to the (current) one time $1,200 payment per adult, there is a $600/wk payment for those who are unemployed which will go a long way to covering more than the current benefit. That will run for up to 4 months.

This is also available to people not ordinarily getting social security and they, too, will get the $600 per week.

And besides opening up to whom unemployment is available, they are extending how long one can receive it.

Governor DeSantis is next on my shitlist.

In his inestimable wisdom, he finally ordered stay-at-home.

But he did it *intentionally* in a way that overrides local and county efforts and blocks them.

Further, he explicitly had churches listed as "essential," so that they can keep bringing in folks to get them infected.

DeeJ,  how does one leave a message board?   Is that really a thing?   Or does one simply go silent for a while,  then mysteriously return at a later time?   The Godot references intrigue me... which member is Pozzo?

I suppose nothing can be done.

It takes a Pandemic to endorse Common Sense?

All across the country bans on single use plastic grocery bags are being overturned and/or delayed.
Meanwhile reusable bags are being  BANNED!

Praise the Lord!

You seem unable to distinguish between an emergency situation and a routine one.   In an emergency,  single use bags may indeed be reducing surface contaminated material.   In a routine situation, using less plastic WAS common sense based on (a)  the fact that recyclers are unable to handle bags,  and (b)  the effects of plastic nanoparticles on many species including ours.   Thanks for your contribution mindless ignorant twaddle!
You might want to face reality.
Plastic bags are here to stay.
Reusable bags are destined to join Edsels in the graveyards of failed ideas.

Just curiously turned on the funereal Rachel Maddow

Starts the show off with this gem:  "Every few minutes the death toll rises."

Showing off that genius again, that Rachel.

I might consider it.
Much more intelligent than investing in an industry that is destined to make you sick like reusable bags.

Maria van Kerkhove. technical lead for COVID-19, WHO - CNN Town Hall:

Wear a (medical) mask if you are sick
Wear a mask if caring for someone who is sick
Leave the N95 masks for the health workers

This from a guy who quotes Hannity as if he walks upright on two legs and doesn’t need his food prechewed.

Trump blasts Schumer in letter

"We have given New York many things, including hospitals, medical centers, medical supplies, record numbers of ventilators, and more. You should have had New York much better prepared than you did, as Dr. Fauci and Dr. Birx said yesterday, New York was very late in its fight against the virus," Trump said. "As you are aware, the Federal Government is merely a back-up for state governments. Unfortunately, your state needed far more of a back-up than most others."

He continued, "If you spent less time on your ridiculous impeachment hoax, which went haplessly on forever and ended up going nowhere (except increasing my poll numbers), and instead focused on helping the people of New York, then New York would not have been so completely unprepared for the 'invisible enemy.' No wonder AOC and others are thinking about running against you in the primary. If they did, they would likely win."
