Larry - you are bringing very little to the table here.

I'll see you in about a week - maybe.

Hey, Larry - if you're lucky, you won't see him, either!

In fact the "malaria drug", as many refer to it as - is available in most hospitals across the nation - and of course now in great supply (lupus sufferers, do not fret)

Teva finally shipped millions of doses two days ago.

You spent weeks denying it was in short supply.

The American Society of Hospital Pharmacists (ASHP) drug shortage list disagreed with you, the whole time. JAMA did, too.

Taking your annual pilgrimage to Stone Mountain? Since the pointy white hood covers your face, you shouldn’t spread too much when you travel. Bon voyage!

I also heard if you swing a dead cat over your head in a graveyard...

kiid wants a fast simple solution so he can say, “See? Only 40K dead. It wasn’t as bad as the naysayers wanted it to be so the could bash Republicans...” for the incompetent, inept and venal response by the Trump Administration.

My nephew with Lupus and my daughter with Mixed Connective Tissue Disease disagree, too.

But let kiid and the rest of the GOP marks fall for the grift and keep pumping a miracle cure so Trump and Co. can dump stock before the quackery is fully exposed.

I denied lupus sufferers would ever be without their medication.

Before the crisis, Tourism created over 160,000 jobs here in Orange County, thanks to Disneyland, all because of Walt Disney's imagination and his American Dream. After this crisis is over, we need to bring back an America where guys like Walt Disney can succeed, and in turn guys like Walt can create jobs for the masses. If guys like Walt Disney are oppressed, or are unable to achieve their dreams, then it prevents them from creating jobs for the masses, and everyone suffers. When guys like Walt Disney succeed then everyone benefits. And also, you cannot have all of the public service jobs such as school teachers and police officers and fire fighters, etc, etc, etc, without the free enterprise private sector paying taxes, we cannot all work for the tax-payers, someone has to pay the taxes. We need for people to be able to succeed in the private sector, and we need for them to be able to succeed big time.

Salute,

Tony V.

And you were wrong about that, too.

You may not choose to count a patient being told "thank you for your sacrifice" as being without their medication, but you weren't on the receiving end of that, were you?

There was a shortage. Some people could not get refills. One company said they did not know when they would be able to fill backorders. Another said it would take weeks. And Teva took more than a week to be able to keep the commitment they made.

There are still parts of the country with that shortage.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2020/04/14/state-department-cables-warned-safety-issues-wuhan-lab-studying-bat-coronaviruses/?fbclid=IwAR0v039cVURltOxbrYZHDLR3LLya5cIPxXlvHEfwd93cULf8HApi7BFhzdE

We knew there was a probem.

And China had requested more help from the US labs -- help with critical operational issues at the Wuhan level 4 lab.   Another reminder that putting borders between scientists may not be good for science.

Quote
“The idea that it was just a totally natural occurrence is circumstantial. The evidence it leaked from the lab is circumstantial. Right now, the ledger on the side of it leaking from the lab is packed with bullet points and there’s almost nothing on the other side,” the official said.

As my colleague David Ignatius noted, the Chinese government’s original story — that the virus emerged from a seafood market in Wuhan — is shaky. Research by Chinese experts published in the Lancet in January showed the first known patient, identified on Dec. 1, had no connection to the market, nor did more than one-third of the cases in the first large cluster. Also, the market didn’t sell bats....

Pangolins were also suggested as a pathway, and I didn't  hear any more on that,  so don't know if that theory was dropped, too.

FEBRUARY 3

China's Foreign Ministry has just accused the US of overreacting to the virus outbreak

A spokeswoman for China's Foreign Ministry castigated the United States for its response to the coronavirus outbreak, accusing Washington of responding inappropriately and feeding mass hysteria.

"Most countries appreciate and support China’s efforts to fight against the novelcoronavirus, and we understand and respect them when they adopt or enhance quarantine measures at border entry. But in the meantime, some countries, the US in particular, have inappropriately overreacted, which certainly runs counter to WHO advice," Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Hua Chunying said.

She continued:

The US government hasn’t provided any substantial assistance to us, but it was the first to evacuate personnel from its consulate in Wuhan, the first to suggest partial withdrawal of its Embassy staff, and the first to impose a travel ban on Chinese travelers. All it has done could only create and spread fear, which is a bad example.

Even American media and experts doubted the government’s decision, saying that the US government’s restrictions on China are precisely what the WHO rejects, that the US is turning from overconfidence to fear and overreaction, and that banning the entry of foreigners who traveled to China in the past 14 days is suspected to be violating civil rights instead of reducing risk of virus spreading

in fact, according to a recent CDC report, the US flu from 2019 to 2020 has caused 19 million infection cases and at least 10,000 deaths. By contrast, by February 2, 17,205 cases of nCoV pneumonia were confirmed, 361 died and 475 cured and discharged, while there are only 11 confirmed cases in the US.

The contrast is thought-provoking. I also noted that the Canadian Minister of Health said Canada won’t follow the US and impose travel restrictions on Chinese or foreign nationals who have been to China. Canada believe the ban of entry has no basis, which is a sharp contrast to the US behaviors
