Doesn't the St.  Petersburg troll farm still have that handbook of British slang that Americans don't use??  If it's lost,  I hope the lorry is bringing a new one.

Is that a description of your thoughts on the accusation against Biden or of yourself?

"So all of this social distancing did some good. Can I be happy about that?" Maher complained. "Death is terrible, of course, no matter how it comes ... but giving the proper perspective isn't a cover-up of the truth, it is the truth. Sudden dramatic deaths like plane crashes, shark attacks, tornadoes, mass shootings, terrorism, awful as they are, kill far less than seasonal flu. Even hospital-acquired infections may very well kill more people than the coronavirus -- 99,000 of them last year! Fifty-thousand died from nephritis last year and I don't even know what that is!"

Chicago Sky center Stefanie Dolson announced during the WNBA's draft broadcast Friday that she and her entire family tested positive for COVID-19, per ESPN:

"This virus has hit pretty close to home. About a month ago, my whole family and I, we all tested positive for the virus and it hit us pretty hard. My mom, she ended up being admitted into the hospital for about four days. She had severe symptoms, pneumonia. But because of the team of health care workers that was there, she's home safe now and healthy."

Dolson added: "I just want to say thank you to all the health care workers out there. What you're doing is inspirational and amazing—putting your lives at risk for us and helping the community and the country. I just want to say thank you."

I wonder what medications her mom was given.

I don't object to a philosophical discussion in the nation between the Bill Mahers and the save-everyone-possible position.   However,  if you want to argue stuff like "being laid off is deadly, " or whatever, then you need to have some kind of measurable index of harm.   I. e.  facts.   Otherwise,  it's just barstool philosophizing.  Just as the "covid death picks off the already dying" needs factual basis,  too.

Yes,  some vics of CV were going to die soon from some hospital or nursing home infection.   Does that mean the "death's coming" crowd are okay if it also picks off them or a family member that was NOT at death's door and had some good years left?   Just saying,  being philosophical means you have to consider Kant's Categorical Imperative, where you are going to accept personally anything you construe as a universal principle.

It just seems hypocritical that these conservatives who natter on endlessly about the sanctity of life, and its preservation, starting with embryos,  get pretty fatalistic when it's the life of some working class person in a high-contagion job setting.

I think you are both looking for an argument that pretty much isnt there.

Critical of opening too soon yet featured on Fox.

Stop being dishonest when painting Fox broadcasts, its viewers, conservatives and Republicans as all
being in lockstep and at extreme levels existing just in your imagination.

I was speaking about the general debate in the country and not Fox News,  which I don't follow.   Some conservatives are social Darwinism fans (look it up - Herbert Spencer was the main advocate) and I'm just pointing out that it's easy to be one when you're born on third base.

I do agree with Maher  on this...

Quote
He then pointed to another Times headline that read, "'It's Terrifying': Millions More Out of Work" that quoted a Hollywood event planner instead of someone like President Trump or Dr. Anthony Fauci.

"What the f--- is 'It's terrifying' doing in a headline?" Maher asked. "How about this: Just tell me millions are out of work without the flashlight under the chin and I'll decide how I feel about it."

This is a general problem I have with journalism that suggests a feeling rather than presents a fact.   I also dislike stories that lead with "What You Need to Know... "  Just tell me what you found out and,  as I read,  I'll decide how much I need to know and act accordingly.

You can't even bother to spell her name right when it's immediately in front of you.

Yes, you found ONE counter-example. That has little impact on the overall cant from their shows.

It's kind of like your defenses of Trump based on (very) select quotes. It is Trump's overall conduct that is problematic, not every single breath he takes.

You, too, have your brief moments of lucidity, but nothing viable as an expectation of you.
