The Stanford-based study in Santa Clara that estimated that there were as many as 85 times the official count of cases in the city has come under heavy fire for flawed statistical methodology on a number of levels...

The random sampling is so not random,  this should be ripped to shreds in peer review.

Yup.

But then, on the other coast...
https://www.bostonglobe.com/2020/04/17/business/nearly-third-200-blood-samples-taken-chelsea-show-exposure-coronavirus/

And that percentage is not dissimilar from the Pine Street Inn, where everybody got tested.

This should be compared to the Diamond Princess, which had 3711 passengers and crew, with 712 total cases, about 2/3rds the percentage of the Chelsea.

The whole notion of prices turning negative is just bizarre!

Various roadblocks, of course - including what to do if a player simply refuses to play (what happens contractually)?

Germany begins to re-open

The retailers allowed to resume business include shops with a surface area of up to 8,600 square feet (800 square meters), along with car and bicycle dealers, and bookstores. Social distancing and hygiene rules remain in effect.

Watching Cuomo

He asks, "Are we past the apex?" as he shows a graph showing that NY is in fact past the apex.

He will get to the "it can go up again" part soon, I am sure.

Teehee.

We should definitely follow Germany's model and timetable since our handling has so far precisely mirrored them in every respect.

On Monday, Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., said told Fox News' "America's Newsroom" that he is working on legislation that will "open American courts to all the victims of the virus so they can sue Chinese officials. We can impose sanctions on Chinese who were involved in this coverup."

Wise?  Or should we just let it go?

Trump would be the most logical target for any lawsuits over covid deaths.   Nothing quite as absurd as an inept fascist and his lackeys casting around for places to redirect blame and evade accountability for their piss poor crisis management.
