They were arresting him for ALLEGEDLY passing a counterfeit twenty.

Eric Gardner was murdered  six years ago for selling loose cigarettes. His murderer was fired after more than five years.

I cannot remotely fathom a justice system in which this brute is not immediately behind bars.   If he's not, then it's not a justice system in any real sense of the word.

It hasn't been a justice system in any real sense of the word for a long time, Barton, if it ever was.

It has been racist throughout its entire existence, with only the combination of ubiquitous videorecording capable cell phones and the internet exposing the rough edges of the police end. But the jail, court, prison, and probation portions of it remain mostly out of site, while at least as racist as the front line police officers. We continue locking people up for petty theft, while giving fines to banks and seldom arresting bankers/financiers for thefts a thousand or million times the size.

How many corrupt government officials, US Senators, or Reps go to prison and for how long compared to hoi polloi in percentages and $$?!

That's our ideal, but when was it last our exe1cution? Even if there was a time (which I doubt) in which our rich vs. poor or powerful vs. weak were equitably treated by our "justice" system within the world of whites, it was only[/] there.

I know, I know. None of that is news to you, but then how can you even think a phrase like, " If he's not, then it's not a justice system in any real sense of the word?"

If he is then there is a vestige of justice, but nothing systemic about it.

All you have to do is comply. Just be polite and you'll have no problem with police.

Their credentials were visible. They were on air - if the state police had doubts, they could have turned on the broadcast to see themselves. They offered to move to wherever the police wanted them to move.

The police deny this... but it was all being recorded from the start.

This is the man elected to be President of the United States of America declaring that there will be extrajudicial killings of US citizens if they continue to protest.

Put that on the record.  And put on the record that I have yet to hear an objection to that from anyone in the "president's" party.

Russia has just doubled their previously reported COVID-19 deaths for the month of April.

The only surprise is that they did it, not that their numbers were low.

And it's likely that the numbers are still low.

But, Kid, I'm sure that it's just Putin inflating the death toll to make President Trump look bad.

Minneapolis City Council Vice President Andrea Jenkins said Floyd and Chauvin knew each other for many years because they worked security at the same night club. Both men worked at El Nuevo Rodeo on Lake Street before their fatal encounter.

Remember back on May 12 when I told you about Dr. Deborah Birx's sharply worded e-mail about an administration screwup with the distribution of remdesivir, the antiviral drug that had shown promise in helping patients who were quite ill with COVID-19 recover faster. Well, now we know the behind-the-scenes details.

The Washington Post reports today that the first 607,000 vials of the valuable medication, donated by drugmaker Gilead Sciences, were sent to the wrong hospitals, to hospitals with no ICUs (and therefore no seriously ill patients), and to facilities that didn't have the refrigeration necessary to store it. So they had to send it back.

"The fact that we'd be so incompetent in our distribution of this that we'd … inefficiently distribute the one therapy we have is stunning," said Dr. Ashish Jha, director of the Harvard Global Health Institute. "How can we make that mistake? What are you working on that's more important than this?"
