The independently wealthy can afford to be "stupid".
Everyone else cannot afford to be.

Karens of Australia fear name has evolved from light-hearted jab to form of discrimination

Roly Sussex, emeritus professor of applied language studies at the University of Queensland, said Karen had been a common term in the United States for more than a decade.
Nowadays, the term is commonly used to describe women who supposedly complain a lot, those considered to have a sense of entitlement, or commit public acts perceived as racist, such as unjustly calling the police on black people.

Professor Sussex said the use of Karen had evolved to be sexist, ageist and racist.
"Frankly, this is a derogatory and disagreeable term, and anyone called Karen has a right to feel badly done by," he said.

Well earned on his part.

Two years (tomorrow) since Liq reconstituted this site.

But I assure you, the Obama hate was thick and far less earned when we had an Obama Administration forum.

Or as you wrote, once upon a time:

Look at all the aristocracy jockeying for the best seats at the inauguration...the best jobs in the new Obama administration...and invitations to society functions in the new era.

The more things change the more they stay the same.

Plenty of hate, Bambi, and you were and are a part of it.

I quite liked Obama...good husband, nice family man...not some of his policies though.
Liked him most when he found time to visit Australia in his second term, spoke in my federal parliament, with
"God bless Australia".

I'm not sure about Trump and Australia...the State visit for ScoMo was nice, the State dinner was nice...I'd like him to say for sure what he would do if China were to attack Aussie ships of any kind sailing thru the South China Sea.
From the words and gestures coming out of the  Ausmin top level talks in Washington between  US and Australian Foreign Affairs and Defence officials today...things weren't all hunky-dory...there was disagreement.

Disagreement over more joint naval exercises in the South China Sea...apparently Marise and Linda from bambuland said no. Probably not wanting to provoke China further.
Also Trump's $40bn free trade agreement with China was "discussed".

On Dr.  Immanuel,  latest champion of the hydrochloro-cult....why FB may have chosen not to have millions of Americans keep being fed her medical advice on their platform:

Quote
Not so, says Stella Immanuel, a Houston pediatrician and spiritual leader of Fire Power Ministries, a pronouncedly non-orthodox church. Endometriosis and other potentially dangerous gynecological conditions are the residue of sexual intercourse with demons, Immanuel teaches. These demons, known as “spirit husbands” and “spirit wives” (you might prefer their pet names: Incubus and Succubus) once walked the Earth in physical form. After they drowned in Noah’s flood, however, they carried on only in non-corporeal form. They visit humans in sexy dreams, which aren’t dreams after all but spirit spouses making a booty call. The demons are responsible not only for diseases of the female reproductive system but also for male impotence, most financial troubles, marital discord and spiritual malaise.

This is not Immanuel’s only diversion from the medical mainstream. She also maintains that alien DNA is a component of some therapeutic drugs and that government scientists are developing a vaccine to prevent religious faith...

If Trump had his way this woman would have Fauci's job.  Really.

Something to think about, and be thankful that Trump hasn't removed all the guardrails on his bat shit craziness.

https://www.politico.com/news/2020/07/28/republican-senators-gop-coronavirus-package-384522

The GOP is a broken party.  They can't govern.  They fundamentally can not do their jobs.

Well over 200,000 Americans will have died when this is all over.  Countless others with long term/permanent health problems.
Tens of millions of Americans have lost their jobs, and more on the way.
The UI increase, the one key element of the stimulus bill that is keeping this economy afloat is expiring, almost surely sending the economy into a recession if not renewed.

And McConnell's top priority is shielding businesses from COVID liability, and the White House's big add is $2 Billion to renovate the FBI HQ, which has nothing at all to do with COVID relief and everything to do with protecting Trump's DC hotel from competition.

Then the GOP waits until the last minute to put the bill together thinking that would give them some leverage over the Democrats, but couldn't even agree among themselves what should be in it once they finally started.

Burn the party down in November and start over.

That's governing.  It's not always agreement within party.
