No reports of a gun anywhere to be seen. And you are taking the police version of the story verbatim.

It was a heartbreaking video and story with the children in the car.  Unfortunately Bambu isn't wrong.  Cops for the last 20 years have been trained to react with swift and deadly force to anyone reaching into their car.  I know that race matters in policing but I don't think race mattered in this case.  Google Kyle Dinkheller   

Since that incident cops are trained to react this way.  It's a sad thing.  I think the training needs to be about not letting the suspect get to the vehicle.  If they get to the vehicle it's over.  They're assumed to be reaching for a gun.

She shows great restraint but in this case the threat was obvious.  He was holding a knife not a gun so as long as she kept her distance from him he was not a deadly threat.  The moment he looked to close the distance between them she had to shoot.  There was never a chance that he was going to get the jump on her.
