Mike Madrid is a co-founder of the Lincoln Project. A longtime Republican political strategist and a former political director for the California State Republican Party, he is currently a partner at the public relations firm GrassrootsLab.

So the Democratic obliteration of the GOP in CA is paying off ...

It’s how we do.

We have to kick Issa in his expensive dentition again this cycle, the low rent slimy handed Torquemada. He skeeved off to another district to fill the crater left by Duncan Hunter’s implosion. We’ll beat him there this time as General disgust with useless republicans flows like morning light across the hills and valleys.

Every single person in the vehicle during that completely unnecessary Presidential “drive-by” just now has to be quarantined for 14 days. They might get sick. They may die. For political theater. Commanded by Trump to put their lives at risk for theater. This is insanity.

About the fourth Elban to quote James Phillips.  It's a good quote.   "This is insanity" is becoming a good summation of the whole administration.

And Fac keeps the high-grade metaphors flowing.   I liked the "low rent Torquemada" post.

And the fact that a Democrat has a better than remote chance now of a Graham upset in SC is another tremor in the ground under the GOP.   I don't know if anyone has a clear crystal ball on where the Senate will be after the election (Alabama might go the other way,  and lose a Dem seat), but I feel it's possible to reasonably hope it turns into the blue man group.  So long as Cirque du Soleil doesn't buy them out.

You're the third one posting that tidbit.

I was second.

Afterward, members of the Secret Service voiced escalating concern at what many of the agency's personnel have determined is total disregard for their well-being amid a deadly and highly contagious pandemic. Agents have tested positive for the virus while traveling for the President's political rallies, which he insisted on maintaining even against federal health guidelines. As employees self-quarantine or isolate in place, others have been forced to work longer hours to fill the void.

It's a situation that has prompted growing and more vocal concern.

"That should never have happened," one current Secret Service agent who works on the presidential and first family detail said after Trump's drive-by, adding that those agents who went along for the ride would now be required to quarantine.
"I mean, I wouldn't want to be around them," the agent said, expressing a view that multiple people at the Secret Service also voiced in the wake of Sunday's appearance. "The frustration with how we're treated when it comes to decisions on this illness goes back before this though. We're not disposable."

ShowTime's THE CIRCUS is always highly recommended viewing, but especially this week's episode centered around the debate

The Circus staff (Heilman, McKinnon, Wagmer, Palmieri) plays it down the middle - one of the only truly unbiased shows we have today.

There have to be plenty of folks out there who are suffering from Trump fatigue.

COVID bout will bring the Trump numbers out in greater force, especially the more the other side publicly hopes for his death.

Actually Trump's infection just underscores how reckless he's been with his own health, his family, the WH and the whole country.

Biden should just run an ad stating:
"If Trump can't protect himself, his family and his own workplace, what chance do you have?
We've had enough of failure, and more than enough of risk and chaos -- stay safe --  vote Biden."

That's exactly right.

Trump's infection is about a perfect microcosm of his gross negligence and mismanagement of a problem of which he was warned into a national crisis.

The other side mainly hopes for his health and sufficient longevity that justice will find him.   A few angry people venting death wishes doesn't define the other side.   Nor did the extremists who wanted Obama to drop dead define the bulk of the GOP.   Bear in mind that clickbait media tends to focus on the most outrageous.

Which is happening essentially nowhere. I mean I assume the existence of assholes but in a statistical sense, nowhere. But Trump voters are great at manufacturing outrage and inventing victimhood so I assume you think this is a thing.

In terms of Trump fatigue, I hope you realize that is his point and his best hope for victory. He views his solid 35- 40% as rock solid voting. Since that is not enough to win he is trying to turn people off voting. It was easier 4 years ago because Clinton was not an inspiring candidate and 35 years of being the most lied about person in public life left her with strong negatives that could be exploited. Joe is too likeable - it is his greatest asset - so Trump is turning to a more general depress people about everything and lie about Biden's health and acuity, like kiid does on a daily basis, and hope that depresses the vote enough.

Press Secretary McEnany has tested positive.

She says she has no symptoms that she is aware of.

Given her general level of awareness, the doctors are not making any assumptions about what that means.

Given her established record of dishonesty she is probably on a ventilator.
