Adjournment date is Jan. 3.  So all that's irrelevant at this point.   There are ten days left,  which is all that's needed.  Can't pocket veto unless some of those ten days Congress is not in session.

The Framers rejected any power of absolute veto.   So the court tends to frown on the use of pocket veto to sneak in such a power.   Congress has the right to muster a two-thirds majority and override any veto.

If it is a pocket veto it can’t be overridden.

If Dems want the 2000 dollar checks why would they vote to override?

A group of protesters carrying Antifa and Black Lives Matter gear and armed with rifles denied supporting President-Elect Joe Biden. Instead, the Lansing, Michigan, protesters said they support Karl Marx!
The protesters were facing off against Trump supporters who gathered for a ( horrors!) Christmas celebration.
When asked why they support Joe Biden, one responded “I don’t support Joe Biden, we support Karl Marx.

Best line from the Trump crowd to the protesters.
“ How does it feel that the Proud Boys have more black people than you guys  “?

Not the bill under discussion, Kid.

Red's in a jolly mood

-Trump stiffs the Armed Services by vetoing NDAA
-Trump derails covid relief and prolongs the suffering for the average American
-Trump pardons Russia-related felons who obstructed justice

Christmas came early for Red and his stocking is stuffed,

He doesn’t have to do anything.

That bill dies with old zcongress.

She certainly pled to the right audience - Newsmax and OANN ran her pleas where Trump was bound to see them.

I think retrying her seems to have been overkill, but don't claim familiarity with the case. And reading Newsmax is guaranteed to not leave me feeling as if I have the whole story.

Pretty damned funny what you attack vs. what you take at face value, Kid.

I don't disagree that Trump would seem to have nothing to gain, either politically or fiscally, from some of his current actions.

But as noted, rationality is not the driving force. That said...

https://www.cnn.com/2020/12/23/politics/trump-ndaa-veto/index.html He vetoed the defense measure that both House and Senate will pass, trivially overriding his veto.

And do Loeffler and Perdue vote to override the veto or do they follow the Trumpster into the Dumpster?
If it is a pocket veto it can’t be overridden.

That’s just one of the reasons pro-forma sessions continue in both houses of Congress.

Hey Luee, I was just reading about the Mar-a-lago crowds control of the VA:

Quote
A former VA official previously told CNN that it was almost as if the Mar-a-Lago group were given influence over the agency as "spoils" after Trump's election victory, adding that the dynamic was "unprecedented."

Former Marvel CEO Perlmutter is a Trump buddy from Mar-a-lago, and kicked in half a million to a Trump PAC in 2016.  His reward, he pretty much got to control the VA, along with his doctor he brought on board and the doctor's squash partner lawyer.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mar-a-Lago_Crowd

Reportedly they selected the VA head, his assistant, and then squeezed them out when they didn't want to privatize most VA health care.

Quote
Last year, an investigation by ProPublica found that Perlmutter, Moskowitz and Sherman pushed for expanded use of private-sector health options at the VA, proposing to invite "private health care executives to tell the VA which services they should outsource to private providers like themselves."

Sounds tricky to prove, but potentially explosive.

And as ever when it comes to Trump, what did he know and when did he know it?
