I never understand why the Dems can't make the GOP's pro-wealthy and pro-corporation/anti-worker agenda clear and capitalize on it.

It's the same old GOP playbook, the Dems never effectively counter.

A candidate who runs on higher taxes can expect to lose in the US. A matter of fact. Republicans have been pushing the immoral lower taxes plank from since the trickle down was conceived by Milton Friedman. Even after the disastrous Bush economies went down in flames.

Higher corporate taxes used to fund education and jobs training and child care, or single payer health care for all.  That can be a winning argument.  And how many are against raising the top earner tax rate a few %, which only affects the rich? 

But need to do the groundwork, especially building up anger that some companies make billion dollar profits and pay zero in tax.
The tax burden has shifted the past half century form corps to workers.
My simple proposal is a minimum corporate tax of 15%. 
That companies cannot pay below that on profits.
It seems a basic fairness issue, hits big business, limits tricky accounting, and would bring in much money.
I'd be very interested in estimates of how much that would raise.

Except when there is a Democratic Party president. Then it spells doom for the country.

Mind you, I do also recognize that this is a variation from your usual "he's just beginning" fable, suggesting Trump actually has a plan to get the deficit, let alone the debt, under control. Good that you seem to have realized he has no such plan.

And while the national debt is not, inherently, the end of the world, as it increases and as the rate of inflation picks up, the burden it puts on the government increases exponentially with it - pushing each year's deficit that much higher and the whole debt that much more expensive to pay for.

Florida gubernatorial candidate Rep. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) on Wednesday defended his comments telling Florida voters not to "monkey this up" by voting for his Democratic opponent Andrew Gillum, after receiving sharp blowback from critics who called the remarks racist.

“It has zero to do with race, Sean, it has everything to do with whether we want Florida to continue to go in a good direction building off the success, or do we want to turn to left-wing socialist policies which will absolutely devastate our state,” he said on Fox News’s “Hannity” Wednesday night.

It's just a coincidence that he used the term "monkey" that way when he has never used that term to describe actions by a white person, right?!
