I think Lawrence is the best QB prospect since Peyton. I'm sure both the Jets and Giants would take him in a second. Guys like Darnold, Jones even Mayfield are there every year. Lawrence isn't.

That's my inclination as well. I wonder what draft packages would be sweet enough to dissuade his rights holder to swap out of Trevor, who might be the the next generational can't miss college guy who is seen as a franchise QB like Peyton,or Luck.
As someone else noted,  that is the type of trade you read about on the back page of the NY tabloids for decades.

Yup like the Ram's trade of RG3 draft rights  to the Skins (3 1s) or the Cowboys-Vikes Herschel Walker haul. (too complicated to remember-but about half the Vikes and a trillion picks)
But for the Jesters and the Gnats, with the added NY fishbowl bubble.

And it seems your original "neither" answer was instead, "both".

I dont speak for the Jets

They may see something in Sam they want to ride with.

Is it your thinking either team could geta  second round pick for Jones/Darnold?

kid we're just giving our opinions as fans.

you speak for yourself as you see the environment

And yes at least a 2 for either guy, maybe more depending on the team (the 1st pick in the 2nd round is a lot more valuable (than the 32nd).

Either team could get a compensatory 3 if they just let these guys go to FA.

IMO either NJ team jetisons their current QB for TL.

IMO2 the risk are too great to pass on him, unless you are overwhelmed with a massive offer-overpay.

which leeds to your next question.

Just for kicks, Bank - you have the 12th pick.  What do you offer with it for the 1?

Depends on 1) need and 2) next year's draft class, or FA, and where I figure I am.

And do i have to blow-up 2+ years or can I get someone who meets my needs and build around him with the draft and FA

But using a standard draft matrix as a team drafting 12th, it would take my entire draft (1-7) to come up with about 2000 pts on the 3000 needed to get the 1st pick in the 1st round.

Or

2-1s

2-2s

in consecutive years

would be a fair swap according to the matrix and using a 10% discount for year 2.

YEAR 1

draft points

1-1200
2-  460

YEAR 2

1-1080
2-414

Total 3,154 pts

But it would probably take something along those lines.

And as luck (heh) would have it there is a Trevor  Lawrrence draft story today.

https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/30203144/clemson-tigers-qb-trevor-lawrence-hints-staying-senior-season-rather-opting-nfl-draft

Clemson Tigers quarterback Trevor Lawrence is leaving the door open about his football future despite previously saying he planned on heading to the NFL after this, his junior season.

The 6-foot-6 Lawrence, considered the likely No. 1 pick in next spring's NFL draft, said he hasn't ruled out returning to Clemson for another year instead of going pro.

"My mindset has been that I'm going to move on," Lawrence said Tuesday. "But who knows? There's a lot of things that could happen."

Maybe he believes Trump and doesn't want to play in a ghost town or alongside Jimmy Hoffa's ghost haunting the Meadowlands

Giants wont have that choice so its quite moot.

Saw some zany ass take today re:  Jags and how they never should have beat Indy.

Losers.

I wouldn't rule out the G-Men yet.

There are about 4-6 teams with a decent shot at the Lawence lottery. And the G-Men seem to have more tix than most.

Eyeballing their schedule there are no gimme's. maybe 2-3 close wins, or they could be losses.

Jets played a decent Bills team tough last week, I'm not postitive they go 0-2020. I could see them beating a disniterested and bad Patriots team if they play as poorly as they played last week,

But the Jets are probably the favs going into the 2nd half of the season.

Bank, you didn't fully answer the question above.  Are you IN or OUT if your stated price is approved?

Further - how long does Bill stay with not so great QB play?  Can he adjust?

(FTR - I do feel Newton may still impress if his COVID fog diminishes)

Kid I said depending upon need, other draft options, and FA availability, 2-1s and 2-2s (at the 12 draft position) was "fair"  price for TL.

I think BB adjusts and adapts all the time, its what he does, but i think he understands a good QB is critical to competing for championships, so I imagine he's thinking about how to get his next QB.

Coincidentally that is how the Mel Harder Institute got its reputation for accuracy.

Is Bellechick so stubborn that he won't usher in the Damien Harris era?  Pretty evident that should be the next move.

says the guy who thought Cam Newton was going to turn Edelman into a star!

OPPORTUNITY was on the side of Edelman, as he showed early.  But you were right about his not being healthy enough after so many battles

But time wasn't on his side,  he's old and hurt.

Edelman is a football player. He busts his ass BUT he played hurt and slow last year-it was obvious he was cooked.

He should have begged TB12 to take him to Tampa to retire gracefully.

Jules undergoes knee procedure (sounds like a scoped meniscus) expected to miss a few weeks and is not "season-ending".
