It seems the US Republican party would prefer an Icelandic model. The 85-90% white Nordic nature of the population being the real hook.

Whether the problems of the bias in US justice system is process based or people-based seems in question.

At least to me.

A pure process with the best intentions can be tainted by impure players.

Lastly comparing tiny Iceland, a homogenous country of .5 million people of Nordic origins and its societal issues and legal system to a multi-ethnic, multi-racial country of 330 million people, with all sorts of legal jurisdictions, seems at best ridiculous.

Go Vikes!

A Giants Failure

Jason Garrett is an easy scapegoat for the Giants shortcomings but the team has bigger problems

It doesn't pull many punches.

Of interest is the Gettleman critique.

More people have now died in the US under Biden than under Trump

Have said all along - and echoed today by the WSJ

The truth last year and this year is that the virus is impossible for any politician to control, much less eliminate.  Mr Biden used the illusion he could vanquish the virus to win election, and he is now paying a political price because he hasnt

Meanwhile, travel ban instituted from 8 S Africa nations.  Fauci this morning said it was not yet necessary - but wiser heads have prevailed.

Republican Death Cult

Republicans have fought mask requirements and vaccine mandates for months, but as coronavirus infections again rise, they are blaming the president for failing to end the health crisis.

https://www.nytimes.com/2021/11/24/us/politics/republicans-biden-coronavirus.html

As posted WBW we had a chance to squash covid in July 2020 but the stupid right-wing motherfuckers had to politicize masks and social distancing which enabled both the reemergence of the original virus and give birth to the first variants.

Six to eight fucking weeks was all it might have taken to beat this thing, but nope live free and die motherfuckers thought they're right to motorcycle unprotected to Sturgess or attend massive political rallies and spread disease and death was their constitutional right and it trumped other American's rights for sanity and covid-free future.

And they could own the libs.

And then they politicized the vaccines, and now we have another variant to deal with.

Big fucking surprise, we will have run through the Greek alphabet several times renaming the variants before the stupid motherfuckers, stop capitalizing on disease and death and the disruption of our democracy. And they will run the show and continue to strip the assets of a once proud country.

Sadly it may be too late for democracy loving Americans, as Dems and Biden will get hung in the aftermath of the Trump corruption, ineptitude and graft, and Repubs shelve freedom for fascism.

Happy Thanksgiving.

More words doesnt equal more right.

Peace

"Poppycock" and "next case" are hardly compelling rebuttals to my arguments counselor.

I dont have to make a case.  You do.

I made it several years ago and remade it tonight.

and listed several of the cogent points

Your  1-word "rebuttal" was childish and was devoid of any substance addressing how or why I was mistaken.

I told you why IMO the G-Men made a mistake drafting Saquon.

poppycock is the counter of a semi-literate dolt.

That you are incapable of making a case is obvious.

Kid my observations about Saquon and the Giants drafting him @2 were both long standing and have been adopted by most observers of the game.

Lol

Sure agree with the longstanding part

So you still think it wise, the Giants with

-a weak O-line that needed rebuilding,
-a QB about to retire,
-and other personnel issues,

use the 2nd pick in draft, and a draft where several teams were looking for franchise QBs and would likely bid up to get to #2, to draft a highly regarded running back?

Why after several more years of having a poor football team and showing little signs of improving, would you seemingly reaffirm a poor decision to so severely over value a running back?

This isn't fantasy football.

LMAO

Keep dummin, dummie

Kid my observations about Saquon and the Giants drafting him @2 were both long standing and have been adopted by most observers of the game.

My point's been made for years, the G-men got little value by drafting a RB with the 2nd pick, when they had so many other far more pressing needs.

That you don't understand it, is not my concern.

Your confusion that fantasy values and building a real football team to compete in the NFL are the same thing, is pretty fucking funny.

And your response of "poppycock" to my restatements of the argument was the only infantile post in the discussion.

Are you stupid or something?

And that's rhetorical, no need to answer, you fucking dolt.

I didn't see a lot of Danny Duke in college, so had no real opinion, but the knock on the Giants was he was a big over reach at #6 in the draft. They could have traded down, and likely still have him available, and picked up another 1 or 2.

IMO a couple of years in, and he's JAG pro QB, with a tendency to lose the football.

But the real blown pick was Saquon. They could have cashed the #2 pick for a basket of picks to build a team, to one of the 3-4 teams who were looking for their franchise QB. $QBs went in the first 10 picks. Giants could have played those teams off against one another.

the Giant's drafting Saquon was likened then to a blue-collar middle-class family leasing a Bentley.

#2 pick for a RB, even a really good one was a waste of an asset, for a team with no QB, and so many holes to address.

Poppycock

All of it

LMAO.

I was dead on.

Are the G-men any closer to being a competitive team today that they were when they had choice draft picks to rebuild with?

They fucking wasted the 2nd pick in the draft on a running back when they didn't have an O-line or QB?

It was GM malpractice.

But you didn't understand it.

Known PED users A-Rod and Ortiz on the HOF ballot.

https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/32691595/david-ortiz-alex-rodriguez-13-first-rs-hall-fame-ballot

Jimmy Rollins on the ballot, too, and his stats indicate that he should be a first ballot HOFer.
I realize you are Philadelphia uber alles but his stats are far below Alan Trammell's, and it took a committee to get him in. Rollins's biggest claim to fame is being able to stick Philly as long as he did.

Rollins' similar batters score, according to https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/r/rolliji01.shtml, a reliable source.

Barry Larkin (861.4) *
Alan Trammell (850.4) *
Lou Whitaker (836.1)
Roberto Alomar (829.5) *
Edgar Renteria (819.6)
Ryne Sandberg (814.3) *
Jay Bell (804.3)
Ted Simmons (797.1) *
Joe Morgan (795.3) *
Ray Durham (795.2)

* - Signifies Hall of Famer

But wait, there's more:

Rollins is the Phillies all-time hits leader with 2,455 hits in 17 seasons (more than Trammell in 20 seasons) and an MVP trophy (Trammell never won one).

Rollins led the league in triples four times. Trammell had 55 career triples, Rollins had 115. He had 235 homers, or 50 more than Trammell, in those 3 fewer seasons.

He stole 46 bags as a rookie, and he led the league in plate appearances three times and at-bats four times.

Rollins earned four Gold Gloves (same as Trammell and Barry Larkin) and made three All-Star games.

Rollins has more doubles, triples and home runs than Barry Larkin, Ozzie Smith, and some guy named Trammell. He has more hits than Larkin and Trammell, and is just five hits behind Smith, but with two less seasons of play than Smith.

I realize that you only watch AL ball and maybe don't realize that the NL version is still the real game, and where Rollins played almost his entire career before ending up with the White Sox for 39 games at his career's end. Trammell DH'd numerous times throughout his career, and J-Roll only did that 7 times in his entire career.

And Rollins had a higher Fielding percentage than Trammell. And, while I do think that Trammell should have been in the HOF without the aid of a committee, Rollins's will not face that situation. Maybe he can thank Trammell and Larkin and Ozzie Smith for that, but really he's earned his way to Cooperstown.

Borderline HoF

all the decent SS were in the AL

in fact the Yankees had 2.

"All".

Okay, Tony Kubek.

Take a look at the era in which Rollins was winning his MVP, GGs, and playing in the post-season annually: https://www.fueledbysports.com/ranking-10-best-shortstops-since-2000/

I was talking the relevant era.

Rollins won his GGs only after a 39 YO  former AL SS, who won a gazillion GG and who was the best fielding SS not named Ozzie, got a little too old, but still won GGs in the NL. And that SS was the 4th, 5th, 6th, best SS in the AL (hitting included). And that SS should have been voted in last year solely on the basis of his brilliant defense. Never mind his 2800 hits.

Rollins was a good SS, but IMO borderline.

Omar was better.
