The only consistent contribution they're getting from their bench comes from Simons who could very well be a trade piece for Portland. He's averaging 10.5 points on 40 percent from beyond the arc and 50 percent from the field.
Portland is reportedly going to be active in the trade market, according to ESPN's Brian Windhorst, and Simons would definitely be someone opposing teams would want to have in any trade package with Portland. So, who do they target?
Yup.
I've seen some Simons lately and he looks pretty good.
Quick, good-looking 3 release.
I did tune in to the Nets game and immediately Simonise shot an elbow 3 over the rim. But he was something like 3-5 on 3's at that point.
We could always look for a 3-way, in which we give POR a PF (say Morris) they need, and Ellington or Taj and we route Simons and say Smith Jr somewhere for a piece we covet. Would give a team two young G's to work with.
Simons is intriguing. To us, or others.
Was strange POR moved on from both Aminu and Hark.
Replacing them with inconsistent guys journeymen Hood and Bazemore. Lillard & McC aren't much on defense.
So you can't jettison both of your defensive F's, even if you were lamenting their 3's.
Anyway, I think Simons is in play if they can get a starting PF and a role player. The talk has been Love and Galo. But Morris fits the profile they need just as well, with less injury risk, and not the long bloated contract of Love.
