Not when considered dangerous, http://forums.escapefromelba.com/Themes/core/images/bbc/code.gifno - "we" do not.

But since we (society) have "defined" an unarmed Black man standing and doing nothing as more dangerous than than an armed white man pointing a gun at the police, your distinction is meaningless.

The taser is not life-threatening, that's what the police keep telling us.   So,  many Americans wondered,  why use lethal force on someone with a nonlethal weapon.   Especially a frightened fleeing drunk.  The purpose of having a trial is to get answers to such questions -- and to determine what a reasonable person in law enforcement would do,  that would best protect the public and safely apprehend the suspect.    We had this discussion last summer, but you weren't really listening at the time.

Yes

Which is why I didn't rehash it with Larry

As I recall,  most of us not in the deathly grip of a political cult saw that letting the drunk run to mom's house,  sleep it off,  and be picked up in the morning was a better choice than execution.

And this is exactly what would have happened, correct?

"I'm fleeing, pick me up tomorrow" would become the new battle cry.

heh

Imagine such a world....

“Tomorrow?
How about I just kill you now?”

As was the case last summer,  he didn't really grasp the concept of proportionate response.   Nor did he provide evidence that drunks become a public menace if they're carrying a taser, which is (police assure us) not harmful.   Or evidence that drunks have used stolen tasers on random civilians who happen to be ten feet or less away (the effective range of a taser).

I lived in a town years ago with plenty of white drunks tottering home.   No cops felt it necessary to grab them forcefully and put them in the tank.  Unless they were yelling or crashing through people's clotheslines.

Ballots have been left unattended on counting tables.

Laptop computers sit abandoned, at times — open, unlocked and unmonitored.

Procedures are constantly shifting, with untrained workers using different rules to count ballots.

Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs (D) on Wednesday sent a letter outlining a string of problems that she said observers from her office have witnessed at a Republican-led recount of the 2020 presidential election results in Arizona’s largest county.

In the six-page letter, Hobbs wrote that elections are “governed by a complex framework of laws and procedures designed to ensure accuracy, security, and transparency” but that the procedures governing the ongoing recount in Phoenix “ensure none of those things.”

Quel suprise!

Fueling the speculation have been the unorthodox practices of the contractors, who have been conducting physical examinations of the ballots, including inspecting their weight and thickness and examining folds on ballots under microscopes. At one point, workers were holding ballots up to UV lights.

The purpose of such inspections has not been clear. Bennett at one point said the workers were hunting for watermarks — though county officials have said the Maricopa County ballots don’t bear watermarks.

In her letter, Hobbs wrote that steps such as the paper analysis are “completely unnecessary” and “do little other than further marginalize the professionalism and intent of this ‘audit.’ ”

More microscopes!!!

She [Katie Hobbs ] questioned whether procedures were in place to hire qualified, unbiased people to serve as ballot counters, noting that reporters have spotted former state Rep. Anthony Kern (R) among the ballot counters. Kern was on the November ballot and was photographed attending pro-Trump rallies in Washington on Jan. 6.

If the stench gets any worse,  Arizona may need to install giant fans like drywall contractors use.

ER Doctors, get ready: The Texas Senate on Wednesday voted to allow most Texans to carry handguns without any sort of permit or training, sending the legislation to a conference committee with the House, which already passed a similar measure. Gov. Greg Abbott (R) said last week he will sign the bill. The Senate passed permitless carry on a party-line 18-13 vote, "less than a week after it sailed out of a committee created to specifically to tackle the legislation," The Texas Tribune reports. Every Republican voted for it..

And yet, they'll tell you they're "pro-life".

Uh-huh, sure.

Actually the first policeman called to the scene told Brooks to move his car and take a nap.
Brooks did not.
So a call for a DUI officer(Rolfe) was sent out who determined via a field sobriety test that Brooks was well beyond the legal point of intoxication.

https://www.ajc.com/news/crime--law/rayshard-brooks-final-minutes/qoSjbkqLxNQiuMe97019nJ/

Rolfe has only been reinstated for being fired without due process.
He still must go to court to face charges for shooting Brooks.

Now think of the other machine that kills tens of thousands every year, the automobile.

Do we let people operate them in public without any sort of permit or training?  Of course not.  Because it's bloody obvious that more people would be killed without permits and training.  Because, without some huge political fetish about it, reason kicks in and people can understand that operating a dangerous machine is a privilege that comes with responsibilities and the capacity to follow certain rules.

And, in case anyone invokes the 2nd, what sort of well-ordered militia would not train its members how to use its weapons?

The right to own a gun existed long before any state militias.
The second amendment only prevents the government from interfering with that right.
