Agree.  But it was Ike who originated the metaphor of the domino, in a speech, not LBJ.  The idea was passed from Ike to JFK to LBJ, and really got its start with Truman and his doctrine. 

If we continue on this trade war path, we will have to subsidize farmers to leave land fallow, as has been done in the past, or persuade nations like Brazil that it's better to buy soybeans from us than clear rainforest to grow their own.  That would mean pricing that would continue to kill off small farms and drive overproduction.  Really, the best path is to end overproduction, reduce cropland, and just produce food for the domestic market.  This would help conserve good soil and clean water for future generations.  And would give many farmers a stable source of income from their land, regardless of drought/flood cycles.

Congress created the expansion program last year in response to a growing outcry. Thousands of borrowers — nurses, teachers and other public servants — complained that the requirements for the original program were so rigid and poorly communicated that lawmakers needed to step in. But, documents show, even this expansion of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program isn't working.

Ninety-nine percent of loan-forgiveness requests under that new Temporary Expanded Public Service Loan Forgiveness (TEPSLF) were rejected during the program's first year, from May 2018 to May 2019. According to the review out Thursday, conducted by the Government Accountability Office, the U.S. Department of Education processed roughly 54,000 requests and approved just 661. It spent only $27 million of the $700 million Congress set aside for the expansion.

The ICE officers tried to apprehend somebody in the supermarket parking lot.

The person left, lawfully.

At that time ICE agents fired shots at the persons vehicle. ICE then called MNPD to report shots fired. MNPD responded to the scene, took statements from the agents and found two witnesses to the incident. They kept the witnesses away from media and bystanders and transported them off the scene. The vehicle was found a few blocks away with blood in the drivers seat and no one in it. At this time, no confirmed reports of the persons whereabouts or their safety. The witnesses do have legal council.

This was a civil matter. No lives were at risk.

I hope those officers lose their jobs.
