Expert warns of 'more sophisticated' terrorists

A terror expert has warned Australia could face more dangerous plots in the wake of three men being charged being charged with allegedly planning an ISIS-inspired terror attack.
Brothers Ertunc and Samed Eriklioglu and another man, Hanifi Halis, were arrested in Melbourne yesterday.

It is alleged the men had recently made moves to access a high-powered rifle, and had been communicating on an encrypted messaging app similar to WhatsApp.

RMIT University terror expert Joe Siracusa said so far, Australia had been "very lucky" that the attacks carried out had been low-level and low-technology.

He said Melbourne and Sydney would probably tie for the title of Australia's terrorism "hotbed" due to the large multicultural communities in both cities.

Well there you go.
Another reason bambu-ilk should be allowed to carry guns.
Guns are great...for protection against Islamic terrorists.   Americans can carry guns and fight back.

I see you can’t dispute the numbers.

I'm not trying to dispute the numbers.  The intention of my post was simply stated.  And your instinct to hide your sourcing (or pass off the analysis as your own) is odd.

On the point, yes, school choice is a major issue for minorities when far too many public schools remain effectively segregated.  I personally support Charter Schools (though not vouchers) for this reason, and don't agree with the instinctual response of some progressives to oppose them.

I suspect its because they know (and are 100% correct in this) that Republicans' interest in "school choice" has next to nothing to do with a desire to better the education of minority children.
Really? What is the “ interest” then?

Republicans want to monetize “public”education...
Really? How do they do that?

They want to defund public education.  REDSTATEWARD gets it.  His feigned ignorance as transparent as his refusal to post a WSJ link.

Republicans want to cut taxes for the wealthy.
Really?  Public schools rely on property taxes to fund public education. So do Charter schools.
Quote
To do that they need to cut services.  When those services are for the poor, they get to escape the political consequences.  When those services are the education of middle class children, they have to be more circumspect in how they do it. You

People are catching on.

A better question for for Ron Gillum or Bill  Nelson.
The black women voters gave both of them the answer.

Uh huh.  With funding levels (including teacher pay) determined by state/local governments.

Black women voters voted for Nelson 91-9.  But I know, the WSJ threw you a bone and you won't let go, however tiny it proves to be.

This. Fucking. Guy.

Mr. Chief Justice Roberts do you ever stop and reconsider Citizens United and Shelby? That’s how we got here.

Usual projection from Trump.

He knows he and the GOP have done everything in their power to ensure the SCOTUS is not independent, assumes Obama must have done the same with the 9th.

So where are those posters here who once crowed about the effectiveness of Trump's foreign policy?

Our "President" is seen as either a laughingstock (get out those rakes!) or dangerously nationalist by our allies.
Even his own party had to rebuke him after he preened next to Putin.
North Korea?  LOL.
And now our "President" has told the world that our stand on human rights violations (let alone the murder of a sheltered US resident) can be bought, either through arms deals, cheap oil, or better yet direct payments to the executive.

Great?  We have never been lower.

Does it strike any of the Trump apologists in here strange #45 isn’t mad at the guys who killed Kashoggi but is pissed with the guys who killed Osma bin Laden?

It's all about the next move.

Would be great if you could just stuff the Prince, maybe even take down his plane and off him Jed Bartlet style.

To what end?

No. With funding levels set by law per taxing authority, namely school districts.

Scott signed the Florida Law for minority scholarships to private schools.
You may want to remember that when you call him Senator.

I find it amazing that Trump came up with the required rate of return of an assassination and the NPV of selling out US integrity and decency.

a phantom $450 billion in promised spending and a drop in oil prices.

capitalism-YAY!

But I came across the executive summary of Trump's briefing on the Saudi orchestrated assassination.

Let me tell you about Ahab the Arab
The sheik of the burning sand
He had emeralds and rubies just drippin' off 'a him
And a ring on every finger of his hand

A big ol' Trump sat upon his head
He had assassins by his side
And, every evenin', about midnight
All his enemies cried, and died.

the complete briefing can be found here

Sure you don't expect Trump-Washington to destroy the US economy because a journalist in America who was taking verbal potshots at Saudi Arabia in the print media was foolish enough to then set foot in a Saudi embassy in a Muslim country.
In Saudi Arabia they chop your head off for dissent and seemingly doing not much.

https://www.presstv.com/Detail/2018/04/22/559340/Beheading-Saudi-Arabia-ESOHR-execution

Saudi Arabia raises number of beheadings by 70%

In its report, ESOHR denounced the Saudi regime’s execution of people for alleged offenses that are not even against the international law and said the convicts have simply attended peaceful demonstrations, exercised freedom of speech or practiced their religious rites.

"Destroy the U.S. economy"?

Hmmm, maybe 'partly destroy the US economy' would be better.

Muslim leaders BOYCOTT meeting with Scott Morrison over his comments on Bourke Street terror attack - just after the PM asked them to help track down extremists

The Australian National Imams Council and Australian Federation of Islamic Councils have issued a joint statement declaring they would refuse to meet with the PM, who floated the idea of discussing ways to stop extremist violence.

The statement, co-signed by the Grand Mufti Dr Ibrahim Abu Mohamed and ANIC president Sheikh Shady Alsuleiman, slammed his demand last week for Muslim leaders to be aware of extremists in their mosques.
