Trump tweets he no longer owns the shutdown. Democrats do.

That's weird.  Trump said he would be "proud" to own the shutdown.  So unlike him to lie.

No need to own it now.  THAT would be the lie.

Supposedly they are about 9u% agreed on the package of bills.  But Dems cannot allow Trump to claim victory. So no dice.

Looking like a "very long shutdown", sadly.

If he didn't get his money last week, the President was proud to shut down the government.

Now he's not going to get his money and he's no longer proud?  What changed his ownership?

Ari Melber:

"Changing gears now to another HUGE topic...General Matt is having resigned...."

Only huge in the sense that you can use it to make Trump look bad.

I do recall...though...all the accolades tossed upon Matt is by Dems on his appointment and through his tenure.

Heh.

Yep.  Oh you were kidding?  Mattis was confirmed by a 99-1 vote dumbass.   The Democrats then and now had no issues with him.  Does making up things make you feel better?

LOL. And the lame defense continues...

"Supposedly..."  Turn away from FOX once in a while, and read the news.  The Senate unanimouslypassed a continuing resolution with no wall funding.  The House would have passed it as well, if Trump supported it.  It is Trump who shut this down.

Schumer warned Trump a CR with wall funding wouldn't pass.  Now, it isn't going to pass.  Nothing has changed from last week when Trump said he would be "proud" to own this.

What did happen is that he was universally panned by his own party for getting played by Chuck, so now predictably he will pretend it never happened, and just as predictably his stout defenders will follow his lead, no matter the realities.

151 members of the House voted AGAINST the waiver to allow Mattis to serve before the mandatory seven year waiting period.  17 senators as well.

The sucker is back, farting through his keyboard.

Trump tanked the economy, refounded ISIS, and lost more republicans.

It’s a Christmas miracle!

Niiiice one kiidcarter8.  Where did you pull that little talking point out from?  I know you didn't come up with that yourself.

So...who signed that waiver once it passed congress?  And what reasons did congresssmen give for voting against the waiver, before voting for Mattis?

Your posture that the wild press and members of forums such as this, the twitterverse, etc were always with Mattis's views on international issues is comically wrong.

Certainly had plenty of stones thrown at him.  But that doesn't matter - he is your hero now.

I don't think the 16 were polled

Gillenbrand was the 1 that stuck to her guns

The 151 in the House were likely just being antiTrump picks, I imagine.

I could point to 20 stories in the press where he was described as the adult in the room, long before his resignation.  What can you point to?

I do not have to prove that anyone, Republican or Democrat, were "always with Mattis's views."  I haven't made that argument.
Whatever criticism he may have come under for providing support for Trump's political stunt at the border, this does not mean that the concerns for his leaving, and the concerns for the reasons he is leaving, are not legitimate.

You seek to delegitimize those concerns only because you support Trump in anything and everything he does, no matter the damage to the country.  An idiot, or not a patriot.

You don't think?

Next time you repost a received talking point, check up on its validity:

Mattis had been scheduled to testify before the House Armed Services Committee this week, but Trump's transition team canceled his appearance.

Democrats said they supported Mattis, but the cancellation set a dangerous precedent for Trump to sidestep Congress.

Normally, lawmakers are able to question legislation in committee hearings before bills are brought up for votes in the full House.

'Before this president is even in office, at the very first opportunity, he is choosing to completely ignore us for no reason,' said Representative Adam Smith, the top Democrat on the armed services panel.

Democrats also said they worried that the waiver does not exempt Mattis from the Uniform Code of Military Justice, to which retired officers are subject for life.

In theory, he could be court-martialed by Trump, as the commander in chief.
