You just described a weath redistribution plan.

No one is born with wealth or hatred. These things are distributed As we go. We need to do a better job at both.
I favor distributing all of our hatred to some place irrelevant. Like Australia.

I am not surprised but I would think that if fires were breaking out all around me, I would log off and maybe try to help somewhere and not hide under a rock or in a hole in the ground.

And great to see a modern day Malthus from a continent with, what 20 million people, explaining "overpopulation"  to the rest of Elba. Cue up the Doobie Brothers's "what a fool believes......"

Bambi's been clear that he's not volunteering to help anybody but himself and his family,  and not much for them.

Because that's what a map would show.

You going to start with "Yo' momma" insults, next?

http://www.salon.com/2019/12/27/pelosi-has-the-right-to-submit-trump-to-an-involuntary-evaluation-yale-psychiatrist-bandy-lee/

Quote
"“As a coworker, she has the right to have him submit to an involuntary evaluation, but she has not,” Lee told Salon. "Anyone can call 911 to report someone who seems dangerous, and family members are the most typical ones to do so. But so can coworkers, and even passersby on the street. The law dictates who can determine right to treatment, or civil commitment, and in all 50 U.S. states this includes a psychiatrist."

I think claiming "co-worker" status is a stretch,  but by the doctor's argument, the doc could make the call, too, and has chosen not to.

And given this president's ability to get people to lie for him, it's unclear that things would go as Lee predicts.

News Item

Pay for the bottom 25% of wage earners rose 4.5% in November from a year earlier, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. Wages for the top 25% of earners rose 2.9%. Similarly, the Atlanta Fed found wages for low-skilled workers have accelerated since early 2018, and last month matched the pace of high-skill workers for the first time since 2010.

I don't find any reason to believe that civil commitment could be forced on a potus.  It's unfortunate (since that would be a humane measure, both for Trump and the rest of the world) but I think we'd best concentrate on getting out the vote in 2020.

Merry Xmas, Chanukkah, or whatever near-solstice celebrating you all may engage in.

"When there weren't no food, we'd eat frogs.
When there weren't no frogs, we'd eat crawdads.
Ain't no crawdads, we'd eat sand ..."

- Old black prisoner in Raising Arizona

Soon enough H.I. gets sent back to prison, gets the same bunkmate, and same stories:

"My mother would boil up crawdads something nice.
One time I decided to make 'em myself.  But I forgot the water.  Those crawdads went off just like popcorn ...."

"Gopher, Everett?"

No thank you Delmar. One third of a gopher would only arouse my appetite without bedding it down.
