The delay?  The "meanwhile, people are dying" folks need to fumegate themselves.

Fact: When the original $8 Billion bill was delayed, kiidcarter8 accused Democrats of threatening American lives, despite the fact that it was Democrats holding it up, and that it was the Democrats who made the bill 4x what the White House was asking for.

But kiidcarter8 isn't here to debate with facts.

We are a GREAT nation, doing GREAT things.  Those that die - it will be quite sad - but it will be from the VIRUS - not any lack of anything, not by the absence of staff in China last fall.  Those that almost die - and survive - should be thankful of the millions that helped- through various means (including simple prayer) - in the most trying of times.

Fact:  The outbreak has been worse in the US than any other country, as measured by speed of spread.  Worse than China, worse than Iran, worse than Italy.  All despite having more resources, more warning time, and despite having been made a GREAT country by Trump.

But kiidcarter8 isn't here to debate with facts.

It will be saddest to have to revisit all this in September-November as politicians rehash in order to sway voters.

Fact: Voters in November have the right to debate and evaluate their leaders as measured by their ability to respond to a life-threatening crisis.

We are a GREAT nation, doing GREAT things.

America was a great nation.  It's gone off the rails this century.  Starting with the response to 9/11 and the pointless, horrible illegal destruction of Iraq.  And the further concentration of wealth and war on unions and working class, which the New Dems had a hand in as they too became a corporate party under Clinton.  Then one party became anti-science, conspiracy theorists and openly racist.  And openly sabotaged the President and country for 8 years.  Culminating in Donald Trump actually becoming president.  And insisting that anything he disagrees with is fake news, and the media is the enemy of the people.  Sowing confusion so the scared and faithful could feel safe cocooning in their partisan news bubble.

The US continues to waste its treasure on weapons and wars, and not invest in its people and future.  Hell, Trump actually ran on the platform that America had lost its way and wasn't great anymore.   I think the culture has also really decayed and become decadent -- drugs, tattoos, guns, obesity, cartoonish sexuality.  America has seriously lost its way.

Look at the covid-19 response, just buffoonery and selfishness and unpreparedness and a lack of seriousness from top to bottom, excluding medical workers.   There's a reason China is getting the all-clear and the US will pass China in number of infected soon, and likely deaths thereafter.

There's been a long decline in the US.  Some real self-inflicted wounds, such as Iraq and the Bush Depression.  The lack of adequate health care for all, the failure to have a reasonable social safety net, the war on unionization and the demonization of the poor.  Europe has done a world better on these basic issues, and people live more comfortable lives with less stress and anxiety.  America is exceptional only in the way it combines wealth and cruelty.

Sorry, was it Nancy or Senate Republicans that were holding up the stimulus bill because it was too generous to unemployed low-wage workers?

Deal was agreed to.
The "deal was agreed to" by the White House and Senate Republicans. It was the WH that as has been their policy all along froze Democrats out.

Rug was pulled out - not by Senate Republicans, smart guy -
Yes, because of.bipartisan negotiations from the outset, like Pelosi did with the first bill, the Repos waited.to do the hard part in public. Because that.is there MO.

and thus - a delay.  Now - hopefully solved.  We will see with tomorrow's vote.

I dont care what is in the bill. I dont care that 25 mil goes to Kennedy Center funding.  I dont even care about the delay. Just people of differnt strokes doing theirjob as they feel is appropriate in their world.

The delay?  The "meanwhile, people are dying" folks need to fumegate themselves.  The "shortage" of ventillators, for instance, in NY - is not killing anyone today.  It's the MODEL (of future patients) that has everyone's hair on fire.  It's important of course to have that model - but acquisition of vents just has to be made over time, not tomorrow.

The cash payments to citizens?  Again - be thankful- don't go out of your way to roast the government for not getting the cash sooner.

Could you be more obtuse? Any delay in our response will cost lives. The administration squandered time on wishful thinking and denial.

I think it wont be long before some of our focus goes out to other less fortunate nations.  I don't think we are near done funding for this virus.  The world looks to the generosity and grace of the USA in such trying times.  As we heal, others will surely be hurting.

Useful how?

By allowing better medical care and advice.

By better preparing our medical teams for what they will be needing more of.

By informing public service announcements.

I dont think male/female breakdown does any of that
You could have stopped after your first three words. It does all those things just as knowing how risk factors like diabetes impacts the disease.

Catching up here,  I was tempted to post a FIFY there.  People need to inform themselves,  and not by reading tweets or Bannon's "war room" misinformation dump.

The Atlantic article Factorn posted is a must read,  especially the last part about what goes into creating a vaccine for a completely novel kind of virus.   It's not a standard flu vaccine,  so it will take longer.

Maybe Josh would have some idea of WTF that has to do with my point.

Now we find Administration officials were desperately getting tested while telling Americans it is a hoax.

Please.  You're better than this.

Please.  You're better than this.

Mulvaney privately got tested despite having no symptoms, and no contact with someone who might be infected.

He then appeared in a public forum to declare COVID a hoax drummed up by the media and Democrats to bring down the "president."

Facts.

What is promising when discussing the coming vaccine is that the virus hasn't yet mutated to the point where a new shot will need to be given each year.  Hopefully, that is.

You must be paying too much attention to that stopped clock at CNN. The Bill was negotiated by Chuck Schumer and Steve Mnuchin. It was headed to bipartisan approval last weekend until SCHUMER put on the brakes to appease the AOC nutcases. I’m assuming you are  oh not blaming the democrats for any deaths during that delay.

As for current treatment - remdesivir and hydrochlorone (in conjunction with Zithro, apparently) should be being used (and is being used for some) NOW in patients that have symptoms.  Period.  To allow Americans to get sicker and possibly die while good drugs go unused is pathetic.

We are a GREAT nation, doing GREAT things.  Those that die - it will be quite sad - but it will be from the VIRUS - not any lack of anything

I went back a week to point out your hypocrisy earlier, then you turn around and demonstrate it after only an hour.
