Thanks for confirming that science has not proven the efficacy of such drugs.  I knew you'd come around.

kiidcarter8 reposts the opinion of a doctor whose reported cure rates have already been debunked by multiple studies, and who thought the best way to get out word for his drug was to collaborate with a bitcoin supporter who appeared on The Ingram Angle while lying about his medical credentials as conclusive proof of "science"...

I mean, what can you say to that, really?

Yank, the guy kiid is hyping is also a climate change denier.

Also, you wanted Obama and you got him!

All snark and snottiness aside, I wanted him to speak up too.

As a scientist, I find that "correlation is not causation" is both simple and yet very counter-intuitive for many.   Same with "anecdote is not evidence."  In college,  a professor will often use the famous example of butter consumption and divorce rates in Maine.   Worth googling,  maybe.

People have immune systems.   They often get better due to the working of that system.  If you give someone a Tic-Tac and tell them it's a drug that will make them better,  this will improve the patient's mood and expectations of a positive outcome.   This state of mind has been observed to stimulate various physical changes in the body,  including boosting the immune system.   In some studies,  it's been shown you don't even have to say anything about the sugar pill.   The placebo effect still works.   It's why witch doctors were actually effective - the patient believed in their powers,  and their immune system mobilized.   Now,  here's the key fact for you:  there is one thing that's stronger in its effect than a placebo,  and that thing is a medicine with actual curative action.   Two acetaminophen tabs,  for example,  knock down a headache better than two sugar pills.
Chemo shrinks tumors better than apricot pits.

How do we know this?   Double-blind clinical trials with randomized administration of the med,  in which neither patient nor doser know if it's real or placebo.   If the group getting the real med does better than the sugar pill group,  it is indicative of a genuine physical effect beyond the psychological one.   Then further study will try to find what exactly that mechanism is,  so it can be further enhanced.   With chemo,  it happens to be the drug stops protein synthesis and the tumor can no longer grow or maintain the existing cancerous cells.   That's why your hair falls out - your follicles are also failing in protein synthesis.

Evidence of what?

------

In this case the study was ended early and word put out due to the fact they were up against time with this virus

And thousands benefited.

Had France rubber-stamped HCQ sooner more French would be alive today.

1950's style chauvinism used to justify corruption. Your "president" of the United States of America:

"I'd rather have [Pompeo] on the phone with some world leader than have him wash dishes because maybe his wife isn't there."

You think Mike should wash dishes?  Is that your point?

Anything.

In this case the study was ended early and word put out due to the fact they were up against time with this virus

Raoult is an ass, like Trump.  But his record speaks for itself.

His record speaks for itself.

One of the things it says for itself is that his paper has not been put in for peer review.

Another is that his own abstract had contradictions in it about what he did to whom, while leaving out standard information that other abstracts have.

I've pointed out the lack of control or double-blind before.

And yet another is that EVERY subsequent piece of research has found different results than his, far less effective and more often deadly.

Some of them ended early, too. Because killing people faster was not the goal.

One of the ways we know that a piece of research is suspect is when it is not replicated by other researchers who try the same approach.

His record speaks for itself.

As one of the 2 or 3 worst Secretaries of State in US history, Mike is grossly overpaid. If he can’t learn to do dishes (a very republican type of disability), he should hire someone to do his dishes instead of corruptly coercing someone we pay to do other more important things to wash his dirty dishes or walk Mike Pence so he doesn’t shit in the house.

Pompeo could also eat his meals off a banana leaf with his fingers like a civilized person.

However, given the enormity of his failures in his current position, it’s easy to understand Pompeo’s desire to do hard time in a penal institution as a sort of penance.

This unfolding raft of scandals will help him achieve that goal.

If he’s willing to be the compliant and submissive bottom he has been for trump, I’m sure his cell mate will teach him to effectively clean all sorts of things. Never stop learning, Mike!

No, if he needs someone to wash dishes he should hire and pay someone to do it. Not steal a government employee's labor. Or walk your own fucking dog.

Reading the rest of my post was not meant to be optional,  it was necessary to understanding my point.   I'm not saying your eyes didn't scan across those words,  but your replies,  today and earlier,  indicate comprehension isn't happening.

Good luck.  Don't eat more butter in Maine,  it may cause divorce.

None of what you posted is news, Barton

Known to all

So again - take the statement I highlighted

Evidence of what?

Surely a case where HCQ "cured" a patient is not evidence that the drug would work on all patients

This has never been stated.

Yet you act as it has.  Or maybe the "what" in your statement is something different.  What is the effectiveness of this drug in one patient NOT evidence of?

YG at least says it is not evidence that it was the drug at all that was the turning point.  Is this what you - also - are saying?

If so...  fine.  But thousands of times, coincidentally?

Funny.

There are some freshman community college kids congregating outside your Starbucks - maybe you can get your rocks off talking down to them.  Here it is neither necessary nor appreciated.

Peace.
