This is a good analysis of Joe's progressive agenda, for those interested:

https://www.vox.com/2020/5/26/21257648/joe-biden-climate-economy-tax-plans

If he is too middle-of-the-road for you ("uninspired") I don't necessarily disagree, but if your top priority is the removal of Trump, his candidacy is not at cross-purposes with that priority.

How confident are you that when the third quarter economy blooms and rallies start back up that we are not suddenly back in a dead heat?

I'm pretty confident that unfortunately the economy is not going to bloom in the 3rd quarter, regardless of what the stock market does.

Biden mostly a finger-in-the-wind pol.

He's tended to stick to positions about which he would have been better off following the breeze.

A month ago Biden-Trump were tied in at least one poll.

One poil does not a tight contest make.

The argument is not that he's toov uninspired  and middle-of- the road for me; the argument is that he's too middle-of-the-road for for lots of people whose votes are needed.

I was responding to bodiddley, who called Biden uninspired.

I hear your opinion, but disagree.  Picking a more progressive candidate could have cut both ways.

Did Democrats miss the opportunity to take advantage of Trump's electoral vulnerability to elect a more progressive candidate?  Maybe.

First any economic rally, let alone one that puts the economy back on its feet by the fall, is far from certain.  I'd say odds are solidly against it in fact.

As for the race suddenly being "back" in a dead heat?  It never was.  Biden always had a lead in the polling.  You could argue that Trump's Covid-19 non-response and the resulting economic disaster has made a surprisingly small difference in this race.

Everyone forgets Biden is Trumps worst nightmare. So much so he got impeached trying to kneecap him,

He has enlisted Bernie Dead Enders to attack Biden from the left (Tara Reade, “You ain’t black” and he is part of the corrupt Democratic Establishment)

Trump is going for Joe is too old... yep.

Joe is an old white man who most people believe is honest and decent.

Trump will keep his 35% of support. That’s the cult.

Trump is flailing and screaming about mail voting and gonna let the Postal service go bust forgetting the majority of the votes he gets in FLORIDA are by mail.

Difference in polling average largely unchanged in 9 months.

Given everything that has happened since?  Yeah.  That's embarrassing.  But embarrassing for the country in general, not Democrats specifically.

Except attention has been paid to VICE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES affectionately known as Uncle Joe, Wingman to the coolest motherfucker on the planet for 8 years.

It’s not about Biden it’s who we put around him.

For me that last sentence sums up the MO of Presidential politics in our time.   That's what they said about Trump in 2016.   It's how the GOP settled in with a manchild.  Our primary system sucks.   It usually fails to select the most qualified and visionary public servant.   Obama was a rare miracle, not the norm.

If Joe can keep his mask on and his foot out of his mouth he should trounce Trump.

He may not be the progressive that some yearn for but he decent, compassionate and on the right side of most issues.

And he may literally be the last best hope to ressurrect democracy in our country.

This is assuming Trump does not some how steal or further pervert our democratic traditions.

We might not find a cure for corona in 2020, but we have to get the cancer out of the White House this year.

Things were so bad in 2008, enough white voters thought "what do we have to lose" and Obama got a shot to clean up the Bush-43 mess? It was like Sheriff Bart in Blazing Saddles cleaning up Rock Ridge.

Fwiw visionaries usually scare the shit out of most people, unless they've already had the shit scared out of them by whats going on.

And I agree with Knicks, if Biden gets elected he will have his choice of some really smart and dedicated people, experts in all fields, who truly want to make American great again, for all Amercians, after the past four years of dumbing down and destroying our democracy and reanscacking the treasury.

Joe has plummeted from a majority to a plurality in that time.

Why?

Mental forehead slap

The majority of white voters didn’t vote for Obama twice.

The majority never voted for him not once.

The Obama coalition is there, just not where you think it is.

It’s in the burns, where by the way, reside the majority of black people in America.
