.LOL Jackson had the most electoral votes but not a majority. Henry Clay( himself a slave owner) threw his votes to Quincey Adams in exchange for the cabinet position of Secretary of State( the Adams’ presidency was a disaster and Jackson spent four years of campaigning against it.) In 1828, despite bitter and slanderous attacks against his wife, Rachael, Jackson  won easily( and lost his wife to  death)and was re-elected again in 1832.

The removals, conducted under both Presidents Andrew Jackson and Martin Van Buren, followed the Indian Removal Act of 1830, which provided the president with powers to exchange land with Native tribes and provide infrastructure improvements on the existing lands.
