A friend of mine, after 7 yrs of medical school and training, has been fired for one minor mistake. He slept with one of his patients.
And now he can no longer work in his profession. Such a waste of time, effort, training and money! Sadly he is still paying on his school loans.

This just goes to show one minor mishap can ruin your life.
Thoughts for him and his family right now in this time of sadness.

He really is a great guy and a brilliant veterinarian.

It's not a matter of shame. Or judgment.

It is a matter of professional responsibility and oaths.

He knew what the rules were when he took them. He wasn't, himself, 25.

And it is quite unclear, given the power dynamic, that the younger person is capable of informed consent.

We have a ton of careers in which what he did would not be grounds even for punishment. The medical profession is not among them. Nor is the teaching profession. He can go have a fine career in whatever field he chooses where it only matters that he not use his dipstick without consent and not have a power dynamic issue.
