We tell him all the time. He never does, just continues as an asshole in ignorance, under the table he thinks is sky, on the turd he thinks is a chair.

This is interesting,

Hopefully we'll be getting a landslide.

But as it stands now, Biden, if Michigan and Pennsy fall his way, still needs 2 more Electron Volts (intentional silliness by Bo) to reach 270.

Which means Biden would still need one of AZ, FLA, OH, WI, NC, GA.
So there's still a pathway for Trump.
he'd again have to run the swing states.
But none of those states have been particularly easy for Dems to crack.

FLA seems the most likely to go Blue.
But as the Isley Bros put it, there's still work to do.

"None of those states have been particularly easy for Dems to crack"

Wisconsin went for the Dems for 7 consecutive elections, from 1988 (Dukakis!) through 2012.

Wisconsin, 7 of 8, 8 of 12.
Ohio, 4 of 8, 5 of 12.
Florida , 3 of 8, 4 of 12.
Georgia, 1 of 8, 3 of 12.
North Carolina, 1 of 8, 2 of 12.
Arizona, 1 of 8, 1 of 12.

Averages according to 270toWin
Wisconsin: +7.8 Biden
Arizona: +5.2 Biden
Florida: +4.8 Biden
North Carolina: +1.7% Biden
Georgia: Tie
Ohio: -2.0 Trump

PA and MI don't show particularly better for Biden than Wisconsin does, at the moment.

IA and TX show better than GA or OH. And AR is as good as OH.

(born 3000 years ago, you couldn't be Christian; born in India you'd likely be Hindu or Jain or Muslim if you had a religious impulse).

You could have been a Hindu.

You'd have missed Jain by a few hundred years.

You'd have been in the wrong millennium for becoming a Muslim, which is newer than Christianity.

Islam is barely 1400 years old.  It's the year 1399 right now in Iran.

 :P
VP race?

Karen Bass is a lunatic Fidel Castro acolyte, who praise Scientology and once belonged to an armed revolutionary group. She's out.

Stacey Abrams is so delusional she thinks she's the Governor of Georgia, and by the way, she's essentially unemployed. In one of her last regular jobs, she wrote bad porn novels -- for real.

Kamala Harris, meanwhile, is so transparently transactional that even Democratic primary voters who have a strong stomach found her repulsive. Pretty much no one who knows Kamala Harris likes her.

The odds have seemed to shift dramatically in another direction, away from Karen Bass and Kamala Harris and Stacey Abrams, and towards someone you have seen before. That would be former National Security Adviser, Susan Rice.

Say what you will about Susan Rice and we're about to, but she is not a buffoon.

Susan Rice is smart. She is hard-eyed. She is experienced.

Susan Rice knows exactly what she wants and she understands the system well enough to get it.

She is a threat.

Agree with Bo and Need on how Biden should stick to facts,  and I think Joe can do that,  but have doubts that facts really mean all that much to anyone who might be swayed by a debate.   The people who still care about facts were never going to vote for Trump or leaning anywhere his direction.  But we need the debates to maintain some vestiges of life before the Post-Truth Era.   And if Biden can conjure even a faint memory of America before unreality TV, web silos built on mythologies,  and the big lie,  then he will have achieved something.   If he can just help people to remember what bipartisanship is,  and how it sometimes worked,  that might help sway a few moderates.

Now I read the 18 posts since I looked in here a little while ago.

Never have debates been less necesssary.  If you're still undecided after 4 years of Trump.... fuck you.

If Biden wins, but the Democrats don't take the Senate, I think he should nominate Garland.  Let's see how the Republicans handle it then.

Blech.  Garland was a moderate designed to get voted in by the GOP senate.
Can do much better.

It's not that Obama wouldn't be good or on the left, it's that there are other folks who are further left and less centrist.  Obama often has moderate instincts.  I always thought the University of Chicago ruined him, when he was forced to debate within a very conservative framework.

As for qualifications, Obama was a constitutional law professor.  A senator.  And President for 8 years.  So he knows the other two branches of gov't extremely well from the inside.  Has considered and dealt with most high level legal issues.  Knows most of the justices and has appointed a few of them.  He's also smart and articulate.  So he's eminently qualified.

Jesus.

Obama was a moderate because he had to be!

Jesus Christ, he’s a black man in America, dig?

Remember the blowback whenever he spoke a black man’s truth?

“The police acted stupidly...”

“If I had a son he’d look like Trayvon...”

Don’t you know you’re own country?

You need music with that comment.

Biden: "What's to debate?  Barack and I handed you an economy that was fully recovered from what the Republican party did to it in 2008. You wrecked it. We had a system in place to help Americans get adequate health care. You not only wrecked that, but your idiotic response to Covid-19 is killing tens of thousands of Americans and you keep denying it's even a problem. You screwed the pooch on foreign policy, your immigration plan is a failure, even the Canadians are upset with us, and they never get upset. In every facet of government you've failed, and worse, you've been caught lining your pockets and your family's pockets with tax money from the middle class and working poor. You cut the wealthiest Americans' taxes while fleecing the rest. You wished a woman facing multiple charges on sex trafficking and sexual assault well, while sending border patrol agents to Oregon to push women exercising their first amendment rights off the street with test gas and rubber bullets fired into them. And you have no plan for the future except to make the rich richer and to try to use your position to establish more Trump golf courses around the world. There's nothing to debate. Youre a fake and a phoney, you're a train wreck, a total failure, an embarrassment to the world, and you need to go. Vote for me, America, and send this mistake off of nature's drawing board packing!"

Yeah.  I see that.  But the overall point stands.  Religions are born every few hundred years.

Hinduism   3500 years ago
Jainism      2800 years ago
Buddhism    2500 years ago
Christianity 2000 years ago
Islam          1400 years ago
Sikhism        600 years ago
Bahai           175 years ago

So Religion can't the key to some promised afterlife.  Unless the afterlife is also evolving.  In which case you want the most recent version.

Beirut blows up.
Hundreds dead.
Many thousands injured.
Buildings 4 miles away destroyed.
Buildings 8 miles away impacted.
Thousands of tons of ammonium nitrate sitting at the port...en route to Africa.

WI used to be reliably Dem, but has Red-shifted the past decade.
OH used to be fairly even but has right-shifted as well.
Obama won there the 2nd time because he had saved the auto industry and all the associated jobs throughout Ohio.
In 2020, those are center-right states and would be tough to win if not for Trump's gross incompetence.
Florida like OH, a fairly even state that tends to break GOP.

NC, GA, AZ are RED states that are just coming into play for Dems.

I don't think it's useful to go back to the 20th C.
I'd look more at the last 20 years, and more specifically the past decade to discern the trends.  And look at the senator and governor races as well.

This should/could be a landslide.
But in a normal year, all of those states are not easy for Dems.
Hopefully the Trump death toll and chaos presidency moves them all Blue.
I'd be putting a lot of effort on Florida, while shoring up Michigan and PA.

Trump saying the US gov't should get a sizable cut of any Microsoft/Tik Tok deal.
Isn't the issue exactly that TikTok is considered too beholden to the Chinese Gov't.  So Trump wants to muscle in and involve the US Gov't in a Microsoft/TikTok deal.
Bizarre.
Won't happen.  One of those dumb Trump ideas.
