I've generally seen "racism" used to mean prejudice + discriminatory treatment.  In that usage,  power differential is implied -- you can't succeed at discrimination without having power to do so.   If I walk around thinking "Norwegians suck, " I harbor prejudice.  If I successfully forbid Norwegians to enter my herring market,  then I'm a racist.   Racism,  in the current parlance,  is prejudice made manifest in an oppressive way.

That said,  I don't think arguing semantics should obscure matters so that we can't all come together on making a more accepting world.   And I see no problem explaining what BLM means to someone who does not understand the "too. "   But partisans tend to entrench and persist in believing what white racist propagandists have told them BLM means.   It's really painful to watch.

Back when I gave a shit I tried to explain:

Racism = Prejudice  + Power.

Problem is the number of folks like bambu who truly believe white people are being persecuted for being white.

Indeed...

https://www.socialworktoday.com/news/dn_060311.shtml

Whites Believe They Are Victims of Racism More Often Than Blacks

Whites believe that they have replaced blacks as the primary victims of racial discrimination in contemporary America, according to a new study from researchers at Tufts University's School of Arts and Sciences and Harvard Business School. The findings, say the authors, show that America has not achieved the "post-racial" society that some predicted in the wake of Barack Obama's election.

Both whites and blacks agree that anti-black racism has decreased over the last 60 years, according to the study. However, whites believe that anti-white racism has increased and is now a bigger problem than anti-black racism.

After having things go your way 99% of the time I guess 95% feels like oppression.

I expected a lot more from Turkey, I expected Turkey to help to make peace between the Europeans and the Muslims. They were even going to allow Turkey into the European Union. But, no, Turkey is bad now, Erdogan is not a good leader, and Erdogan is certainly not out there trying to make peace between Europe and the Muslims. Turkey needs to elect better leaders who will help to work for a more peaceful planet. We can all work together to make sure that the children have food, and we can work to make a better planet. And right now we need to beat the corona virus and open the world economy back up.

(Of note, the world community saved Turkey when their economy was collapsing, the World Bank and the IMF and the world community all got together and saved Turkey's economy. Turkey needs to show their gratitude by being peacemakers. And if someone else's economy is collapsing, Turkey needs to join the world community to help the nation that needs help, and for instance one nation there that needs help right now is Lebanon, Turkey needs to help Lebanon along with the rest of the world community. We call that "Paying it forward." Someone helps you, and in turn you help others. And Turkey can help to make peace between the Muslim world and France right now.)

A French teacher said something that offended a Muslim, so the Muslim cut the teacher's head off. So, the French people hit the streets to protest.

Now, the Muslim nations are all boycotting French products.

It is all bullshit. The Muslims need to stop the hate.

You cannot cut someone's head off just because they offended you.

Our cultures are so far apart sometimes, and some people are always ready to go to war, over the same old bullshit.

We need to evolve and grow so that we can have peace, we cannot keep fighting over the same old bullshit.

Progress is being made as some Muslim nations are improving relations with Israel, and some good things are happening, we need to continue to work towards a more peaceful planet. And things are better in Israel now, they do not have suicide bombers like in the old days, our world is getting better.

Salute,

This is what happens when countries refuse to listen:

https://www.spectator.co.uk/article/the-french-city-zones-where-police-rarely-escape-unscathed

The French city zones where police rarely escape unscathed

The police wear body armour because the men who control these districts are at war with the Republic.

In December 2015, Donald Trump claimed parts of the French capital were no-go zones for the police. 'Paris is no longer the same city it was,' said the then-Republican presidential hopeful. 'They have sections in Paris that are radicalised... The police refuse to go in there.' His remarks echoed a similar claim made by Fox News earlier in the year. In response the mayor of the city, Anne Hidalgo, was outraged, and even muttered about pursuing legal action for the 'honour of Paris'.

Trump was wrong. There aren't any no-go zones in France for the police. There are, however, a growing number of zones that the police enter knowing their chances of emerging unscathed are slight. In the parlance of politicians and the press, these districts are described as sensible (sensitive) or défavorisé (disadvantaged), and last year the government launched an 'urban reconquest' of sixty of the most troublesome with the deployment of foot patrols by police.

The police wear body armour because the men who control these sensitive zones – to the misery of the majority of law-abiding inhabitants – are at war with the Republic and anyone in uniform is regarded as an enemy.
The guerrilla warfare was in evidence over the summer in Paris when a fire crew was lured to a blaze south of Paris and attacked by a 30-strong mob.

In Islamic extremists, the far-left now have an ally in their conflict with the police. Several policemen and women have been murdered by Jihadists in recent years, including the Muslim officer who was the first to arrive at the offices of Charlie Hebdo, and the couple who were butchered in their own home in front of their three-year-old son.

A policeman called Camille said there were indeed inner-city housing estates where firefighters and ambulance refuse to go. The police brave them, but only in company strength, and even then they'll usually meet a barrage of something, be it stones or abuse. Speaking in 2016, Camille noted that the hostility had strengthened since the murder of the Charlie Hebdo cartoonists the previous year. ‘This is only the start,’ one youth had shouted at Camille's unit. ‘You’ll see… in a few years, Allah will be in power.’

France needs to welcome in more Roman Catholic immigrants, from Mexico, and from Colombia, and from Venezuela, and from the Philippines, and from El Salvador, etc. And they need more Roman Catholic immigrants in the French Foreign Legion.

Erdogan has rigged the entire system, much in the way Putin has in Russia, so that Turkey has the largest number
of journalists in jail, almost all independent media has been shuttered, a few opposition political parties have been
disbanded and their leaders thrown in jail, etc.  Turks cannot elect better leaders because their democracy is just a
facade, a sham, at this point.

Otherwise the EU was very nervous about having Turkey join due to religion and the large population and immigration, etc.
It looked to me like it was never going to happen and when Erdogan couldn't get a boost that way (economic boost and prestige),
he doubled down on pushing Muslim identity and Turkish nationalism.
Meanwhile Erdogan and his family and cronies are looting the country.  A sad state of affairs.  Too bad the coup failed ...

The French people have moved on from christian mythology.
The churches are mostly museum pieces and architectural marvels, empty except for tourists and the elderly.
I don't think they're looking for more believers to counter the other immigrant believers.

Ah yes, Erdogan's Turkey today, in the Middle East;

'Deeply offended' PM demands Turkey’s Erdogan withdraws Gallipoli 'coffins' comment

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has drawn a sharp rebuke from Scott Morrison for a controversial speech.
]

#####

ScoMo the sharp rebuker...I was rather shocked.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has demanded Turkish president Tayipp Erdogan withdraw his comments threatening to send visitors from Australia and New Zealand back "in coffins".
The Turkish strongman made references to the death of Anzac troops during the WWI Gallipoli campaign as he ramped up rhetoric in the wake of the Christchurch mosque attacks.
Speaking with reporters after the meetng, Mr Morrison said he rejected “excuses” from the Turkish ambassador to Australia offered during the meeting at Parliament House this morning.

#####

ScoMo the rejecter...I was even more surprised.

bambu-ilk tried that, with refugees from Syria...'Christians first, to this Christian nation'.
The sky fell on us, we were attacked far and wide for being 'racist, xenophobic, Islamophobic etc'.
We couldn't see anything wrong with the idea we put forward. We thought it was fair and reasonable. "Muslim nations take Muslim refugees, and Christian nations take Christian refugees."

https://www.cnn.com/2020/10/27/politics/election-2020-senate-race-rankings-one-week/index.html

Dems add 3, lose 1, fall short.

Except that CNN doesn't say "add 3, lose 1," Kid. You made that part up.

They say "add 4, lose 1, with two toss-ups."

https://www.cnn.com/election/2020/race-ratings/senate

If I was quoting the piece it would be italicized.

They only claim 4 wins?  I am surprised.

In Florida, Democrats are leading in the pre-election turnout with 42% of the ballots cast to the Republicans' 36%. A week before the 2016 election, they were tied at 41% each.

Combine that with the currently projected pro-Biden split among independents and it bodes well for Biden.

After the network aired Barack Obama's Florida rally for Joe Biden over the weekend, Trump tweeted, “Now @FoxNews is playing Obama’s no crowd, fake speech for Biden, a man he could barely endorse because he couldn’t believe he won.”

They’ve got to make up the air time with half their people down with Covid, quarantining, or conspiring with trump’s comedian, the post, and the GRU.

Trump just had to sign everything not nailed down over to his lawyers as brush back is blunting the ability of his Barr bogged DOJ to intervene.

He’s fully broke, low on coke, and headed for a breakdown.

FOX also carried Obama's Orlando speech today, cutting into the very popular Outnumbered 12 noon time slot.

Then carried Biden's Georgia speech as well

(Mostly) fair and balanced.
