Republicans succeeded in their war on thanksgiving despite losing everything else so far this year. Republicans are set to kill Christmas as well.

Biden can nominate anyone Warren and Manchin find acceptable without the consultation and approval of anyone else.

Republican opinions don’t count for shit. They are a failed party that only continues to give crooks and idiots one convenient label to cower under as they lose relevance and slip into a state of pure pity and ridicule.

The whole party has become as sad and easily fucked over as Kiidcarter8 and RedWard.

https://www.cnn.com/2020/11/26/politics/trump-leave-office-electoral-college/index.html

Trump says he'll leave office if the EC votes for Biden.

How amazing... that it should take this long for such a simple declaration.

Not, he insists and persists, that he is conceding, because he isn't. There are still people to pressure and lies to tell, after all!

I've noted here, more than once, that "Police lie."

This is noticed by people other than me.

A New York judge observed in the finding on a case that “the time has come to reject the canard of marijuana emanating from nearly every vehicle subject to a traffic stop. ... So ubiquitous has police testimony about odors from cars become that it should be subject to a heightened level of scrutiny if it is to supply the grounds for a search.” "According to court documents, at least five other judges concluded in cases that officers lied about smelling marijuana to justify searches that turned up unlicensed firearms."

Nor is NYC the only jurisdiction to notice this problem. Last month, legislation banning police from initiating searches based on the smell of marijuana and making traffic stops for an array of minor infractions was heading to Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam’s desk after clearing the General Assembly on Friday.

According to one source 76% of police have admitted to falsifying facts to make probable cause easier.

That's a lot of lying, even before you get to the courtroom.

Next Covid outbreak tied to a house of worship in NY that includes fatalities, Leticia James should charge the five injustices with homicide.

They have lifetime appointments so they can hear cases once they’ve done their time or if someone decides to grant them work release.

I am sure the Tennessee families with dead and ill from COVID-19 are grateful for his prayers, along with his lack of mandate, even after the report identified double the cases in counties without mandates.

It's a pretty weak argument that religious groups were more heavily restricted in numbers than grocery stores and therefore the religious groups were singled out or discriminated against.  As though these are similar situations.  First off, food is essential for survival.
Nice fiction

You might want to use your internet connection to research the details of this case. Just a suggestion.

You'd think it would be hard to be wrong all the time.  But some just have a knack*.

Quote
Sotomayor vigorously disputed the contention that the religious groups were being unfairly discriminated against, arguing that comparisons between religious services and liquor or big-box stores were overly facile because the virus-related health risks posed by what people do in those places are starkly different.

“Unlike religious services … bike repair shops and liquor stores generally do not feature customers gathering inside to sing and speak together for an hour or more at a time,” she wrote. “Justices of this Court play a deadly game in second guessing the expert judgment of health officials about the environments in which a contagious virus, now infecting a million Americans each week, spreads most easily.”

Gee that sounds familiar.

One prong of the right-wing pro-religious argument was that religious groups were being discriminated against compared to secular businesses; the other line was that the restrictions impinged religion and were not narrowly tailored enough to limit that.

The discrimination argument was very weak and poorly reasoned.

* I have a neighbor I call The Woman Who Is Wrong About Everything.
The funny thing is that she's more pleasant than the actual stupid neighbors who don't want any plants or cats in our garden -- preferring cement and laundry drying.
So the Woman Who is Wrong About Everything has recruited me as an informal ally, and when she tells me nonsense often couched as advice to follow, I usually just nod and say that's interesting.

Really I'd prefer if the NY Gov sets down some rules (according to the color code or whatever) and then religious orgs can work with the local health officials to get waivers if they put a viable plan into place.

Simply, some churches are large and can easily distance 25 or even 50 parishioners, while others are smaller and maybe 10 or 20 is the right amount.
And it helps if they demonstrate a plan for ensuring mask wearing and maybe use temp checks upon admittance.   Maybe some behaviors/parts of services should be modified, etc.

Such waivers could provide the narrow tailoring the court wanted.  And it seems a good thing if local health officials and religious groups are coordinating their anti-virus strategies.  Religious services and participation are important to some folks and making some accommodation for that seems reasonable.

So I'd favor localization and cooperation.
